There's a campground we like to visit in this general area and after a few trips up this way was happy to have stumbled across this thrift store. Even though I had searched previously for thrift stores for whatever reason it doesn't come up in the search engine. Overall this area is beautiful, but does appear slightly impoverished so I wasn't expecting much as far as name brands, etc. But fortunately I'm not a brand whore and shop for whatever pulls at my heart regardless the name on the label. The store is located in a run down (but probably the largest) shopping plaza in the town of Sunbury. Inside it could have definitely used some tweaking as far as general cleanliness but was organized by dept, items, and loosely by size. Woman's clothing inventory was in abundance and I was happy with the quality and condition I was seeing. In fact I bought a trash bag full of items for myself. The racks were jammed packed and close together. It was difficult to not only social distance but get past someone with a cart. Overall the store was probably at full capacity as far as items it could hold and given the limited amount of thrift stores in this area this location probably gets all the donations for several nearby towns. The staff was pleasant and they even offer their own loyalty card for additional discounts and special days for cardholders. I did have to ask for it after the lady in front of me presented one. Do make sure you ask if not offered (it gave me 50% store wide at another location the next day). So while you may need to shuffle thru and hunt a bit, that's part of the fun. Will definitely go back next time we camp in the area.

This is a little hidden gem of a flea market. It is what I would call a co-op. There are vendors…read moreset up in positions that they rent. There are many rows and positions. There's quite a variety of merchandise. From picked treasures, repurposed furniture, to new lower priced groceries. Some of the prices are all over the map. About half of the vendors are overpriced. The other half are maybe a tad underpriced. One additional tip would be to watch for repros or fakes of items such as swords or the like. But, for the most part, all is on the up and up. Lots of picked old farm items and even some old toys. They even have a small restaurant in the back. I didn't eat there so I can't speak for its quality. I could spend hours in this place. Chances are, if I did, my bank account would be drained and I would come home with a ton of stuff I had no place for. It can definitely be hit or miss depending on what you are looking for. The clerks can be hit or miss, at times, too. Some are friendly, some not so much. But chances are, you will find something you are looking for.

My friend and I shopped our hearts out and give this place our highest seal of approval. That's saying alot because we are the divas of bargain hunting! Although the footprint is small it's packed with great stuff without feeling cramped or congested. All the displays are artfully arranged and the inventory current, clean, in style, and cheap! Look up - the orginal, ornate ceiling is so cool! The entire store has a fun, glamorous feel definitely aimed towards the fashion conscience woman. While they had plenty of clothes in junior sizes they also carried larger sizes like L and XL too. Some of our favorite scores: The $1 rack full of brand name clothes for all sizes from last season, all priced at only a $1 each The .50 cent (yes you read that right, or 3 for $1!!) small travel size roll on bottles of name brand ladies cologne (Elizabeth Arden, etc) The REAL, authenticated leather PRADA purse we saw from a season or two ago in pristine condition for $17! The one of a kind beaded fringe necklace I scored for $8.95, not to mention the other cool, trendy jewelry sprinkled throughout the boutique like art. In addition to clothing, they carry name brand perfumes (larger bottles in addition to the travel roll on size) shoes galore (all like new!), purses, scarfs, and accessories. There's two dressing rooms as well. Street parking is meter free. The concept (we learned from the sales girl) is the owner does buy outs from customers like us, carefully selecting and pricing items accordingly for resale. While I don't know how much you get as a seller I'm told she pays cash on the spot or you can get double the worth in store credit. Your choice. Store is located just outside of Northumberland on Route 11, immediately next to the American Legion. Parking lot can get tight if the store is busy and it's built on a downhill slope, so unattended shopping carts can roll away. What will you find product wise? A decent fresh fruit/vegetable section. Frozen food section with a lot of discontinued products. Tons of canned good including bulk #10 cans. This location off season sells various fountain fireworks. They also have small kids toy selection. Compared to the Berwick store, this one feels like it has less stock in general. Why I knock a few stars off is you need to check expiration dates on EVERYTHING. No exceptions and at this store they are less well marked on items like cereal. Toiletries and other general pharmacy items are not competitively priced. Paper products have about the same quality as generic items at Dollar General (not great.) Overall, I like Surplus Outlet, and it's worth stopping in to see what they have.

The store is spacious for a discount grocer and had a large section of beauty and health products, more so than others. Many were damaged packaging or expired but that's to be expected. What I didn't expect was such a large and impressive freezer and produce section. Had I had more room in our travel trailer camper I would have bought a ton more! Prices were low and the selection was very broad and fully stocked. Ditto for the produce which looked to be in very good condition and not "seconds". Since discount grocers tend to carry discontinued products I did find several items I'll probably never find again, but at least I enjoyed them once! The staff on the floor was also helpful in directing me to the dept I was looking for. The cashier however had the personality of a slug, and when hubby and I tried to engage in conversation with her she made eye contact but no response. Four stars because although they had a cart wipe station the wipes were completely dried out. A sign at the door insisted there would be no entry unless masked. However a big family with a ton of kids (all touching stuff and a muck around the store) ignored the mask rule and were allowed entry. Also when I tried to go back Sunday on our way home to stock up they were closed. No Sunday hours is a huge let down.
