I worked for Mr Sutton in the 1980s and knew him to be nothing but upstanding and honest. He was very careful about seeing to it clients were treated fairly. And for the one who complained about the hourly rate: I went from working for his firm to working in Dallas, and I can tell you $250/hour is a good deal! Most attorneys charge a minimum of $500/hour for cookie-cutter cases and much more if they must do any calculations or negotiations. I hired Paul Sutton a little over a year ago and paid him $2,000 for an uncontested divorce. I later realized, he wrote up our child support computation completely wrong; it is written for one child instead of three, and the income is about $20,000 less than what was shown in the tax documents we gave him... I noticed this a while back but have been putting off correcting it. I finally contacted him yesterday and he was quick to point out that I somehow still owe him $100 (apparently my uncontested divorce went over that $2,000 retainer) and said that I need to accept responsibility for the miscalculation since I signed the final paperwork. I do agree that it is partly my fault as well since I apparently didn't look over things very well but during an obviously stressful and emotional time, I was trusting that someone I paid a large sum of money to was doing things correctly for me. So now he says that if I want him to correct the mistake, I need to pay him a $750 which is only a retainer and he will be charging $250/hour for his work on the correction. This mistake has caused child support to be SEVERAL hundred dollars less a month than it should be for the past year. Hired Paul to represent us in guardianship case and thought he would be a good attorney from what we heard and in the beginning he seemed to be good but as the case went on he started slipping giving us wrong court time (have letter to prove it) and almost cost us our grandson but thanks to Sheriff's department contacting emergency judge to stop daughter from taking him. then he didn't show up for the court hearing on that until the hearing was already over. then when the last time we went to court with him he got upset because my wife ask if he wanted us to contact DHS for our daughter to have supervised visitation or if he wanted our daughter to like he told us to do in the past and his remarks were let me say this were you will understand I can do it for $350.00hr. or you can and my wife said we can but you told use before to have here to do it to show she is responsible and that made him made and he said let me tell you this I'm going to resign as you lawyer and you will have to find another attorney. and before that day we had just got a statement from him saying we still had over $900.00 in credit and now he is saying we owe more money . after spending thousands of dollars with him he adjusted last statement in his favor. at one time he might have been a good lawyer but i believe if you choose him now you are wasting your money. read more

My genuine and honest review of attorney Paul Sutton is to avoid this man and his services at all costs. He is very deceptive and misleading, (I'm attempting to remain professional by not coming right out and stating the fact he is a liar). We all know most attorneys stretch truths, but when you bold face lie to your client or opposing party, it becomes an ethical matter- and a malice disregard for your professional code of conduct. Filing a complaint against attorneys for misconduct can take up to a year- so until then I will file every possible review in the hopes that other will find this helpful in their purchasing decisions.
