But this park is also plagued with chronic drug and alcohol addicted folks who trash public areas, including human waste. This park has insufficient parking- which is split into two separate locations. One is on the west side and the other on the north east side. The NE parking lot is where you dealers and users can typically be found. Families and children are more typically found in the west parking lot. It's common to see fish and moose along in this park on this section of Chester Creek Trail. There's a cute little playground here as well on the west side. There are some very pretty bridges in this section of the trail also. This is also one of the few locations where the creek is low enough for people to safely wade during the summer. The salmon viewing pier was condemned a few years ago and it doesn't seem like the city had any plans to fix it since it was a hangout for using. There are many varieties of plants, flowers, berries and birds found here, which make it a lovely greenspace for people and animals alike.

There is also a large dog park and there are various trails. There are spots to grill and picnic, and a shallow area of the creek in which people both small and large can play. My two drawbacks - this is a pretty popular spot for people with kids, so don't expect it to be quiet unless you hit it on off-hours; and when packed, parking can be a bit much. *Don't forget to bring your inflatable raft so you can float down the creek to Peanut Farm when you leave* *Bring cash for the ice cream truck*

Lots for the big kids to do as well as the littles. They have a saucer swing here, in addition to a few traditional ones. A roller slide sits towards the back of the park. A few porta-potties are within the tree line. This park/playground is super convenient to bring the kiddos for a break, when attending downtown park strip events.

A setup that would seem mundane in the lower 48, but isn't very common in the ANC. It's big enough that you could throw a blanket down, have a picnic, and not feel surrounded. The park is beautiful to look at but I just cannot bear the dog poop smell. I love dogs, however pet owners in the area don't pick up after their pets. I do love this park during snowy winters. The kids enjoy sledding on the hill side of the park. It is just a beautiful scenery when the park is covered with snow. In short, I only go to this park in the winter and I avoid it in the summer.

It's almost an entire city block, but there's not much there. It's got some aging toddler playground stuff, but nothing for older kids. There's a picnic pavilion with 4 tables (perpetual birthday parties here) but no grills or anything. There's tons of large trees, so the mosquitos are off the chain. The park is carved into little zones by all the trees that create private little nooks, so sight lines can be a problem for paranoid parents. It's a very attractive park, but frankly, not very functional. It's also worth noting it is NOT attached to the trail system.

The park features a statue/monument of Captain Cook, looking across the Inlet as he might have done during his explorations. There are also a few wooden paths you can walk around the monument, if you want to get some exercise while visiting the park. Within the paths are a couple of wooden benches where you can sit and look out at the view or take a break. Aside from seeing the statue, taking in the view, and walking around the wooden boardwalk, there isn't much else to see or do in Resolution Park. But it's still worth a photo op and a little stop to admire the scenery!

It's a sloping piece of lawn that starts in downtown and empties out into the Shipcreek area. It's a great place to relax and picnic after a day walking around downtown, especially if the weather is nice. In the winter, you could probably sled down this...not sure if you'd get in trouble or not though. Don't tell 'em I sent ya!
