The World Dodgeball Society (WDS), the premier co-ed sports and social organization based on…read morenostalgia and camp of the 80s, is COMING BACK to Palo Alto. The Palo Alto adult co-ed league will be kicking off their season May 12th and playing every Saturday for an eight week season. The league is held at Cubberley Community Center - GYM A at 1pm or 2pm, with teams carrying a roster of no more than 20 people (minimum of five girls). Open gyms ($5 to play) will be held on Saturday April 14th, April 21st & April 28th from 1pm to 3pm - open to all adults (21 years and older) interested in trying it out. No experience is necessary and leagues are played with soft no-sting balls, making it a fun adult sport for all skill levels. New-to-dodgeball players can learn the rules on the first day of the season or at the open gyms. Full teams, small groups and individuals are encouraged to join. The cost for the season is $55 per person, which includes weekly 50-minute games, a sweet league t-shirt and the chance to meet some awesome people. WDS also offers leagues throughout Los Angeles, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi and New York, on varying weeknights, for both beginners and hardcore players, all followed by the opportunity to socialize with fellow players at local sponsoring pubs. Cubberley Community Center - GYM A is located at 4000 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94303. For more information, please visit: http://dodgeball4ever.com/ or email: jayboogie@dodgeball4ever.com

Chelese, the event manager was extremely easy to work with and the staff was very helpful. I expected the food to be good but it was truly outstanding. I absolutely love the University Club of Palo Alto!…read more For me, the highlight is the pool. I love swimming here--there's an excellent lap pool where you can sign up for lanes, a diving board for extra fun, and plenty of open swim time for families. Kids can't get enough of the swim team, and there's even a shaded baby pool that's perfect for infants and toddlers. The tennis courts are top of the line, whether you're playing just for fun or competitively. The tennis pros are fantastic, and the whole tennis community here is great. Pickleball is also really taking off--it's always fun and social. The gym has everything you could want: Peloton bikes, free weights, machines, and a full range of classes. Beyond fitness, people also gather for bridge, mahjong, and other activities, so there's something for everyone. The food is excellent, the full bar is always a plus, and the events calendar is packed. There are great adult activities (salsa dancing, wine tasting, Aloha nights) and plenty for kids too (kids' night out, movie night, and more). Best of all, the community is welcoming and friendly. It's easy to meet people here, and many members end up making lifelong friends. All around, it's a wonderful club--I can't recommend it enough!

I booked the complimentary 1:1 Pilates intro just thinking it would be a nice add on and even told a friend I wasn't planning to continue after. That completely changed after my session with Joan McCarthy. I'm so glad I happened to be paired with her for that complimentary session. She is truly exceptional. I ended up buying a large pack of sessions right after and now see her twice a week. We've even done a few double sessions which have been amazing. I'm already seeing real progress in my strength, flexibility, and overall toning, and the principles she teaches have helped me get so much more out of my Solidcore and other group workouts. What really stands out is her energy and approach. She has such a positive and motivating attitude, and she really pushes me to challenge myself, find my limits, and get the most out of every session. I've also learned so much more about fitness and overall health from working with her. She combines deep Pilates expertise with a dance background, and her hands on adjustments are amazing. She also sends an in depth breakdown after each session of what we worked on and is very responsive, which makes everything feel thoughtful and personalized. I'll be honest I waited to write this because I wanted to lock in my recurring time slots first, which probably says everything. I'm fully obsessed. Thank you Joan!

That said, the Life Fitness treadmills are older and out of date compared to other less expensive Equinox clubs like Santa Monica, South Bay, and Newport Beach. Probably the least "premium" part of this location is the men's locker room and bathrooms. They're consistently humid, cramped, and not as clean as you'd expect from an Equinox. For a premium membership price, the facilities should be held to a higher standard. Good gym for getting a workout in, but the locker room experience drags down what could otherwise be a great club.

My daughter has always loved Camp Imagineerz and they have fun themes like "Escape from Candy…read moreKingdom" or "The Great Adventure Park Competition". At the end of the camp, parents are invited to see what the kids constructed during the week and they put on a show for you. What I was most impressed with was that they instill in the kids this "I-Can" mindset, which teaches the kids what to do when they face adversity, issues and driving that positive mindset that they can overcome it. The most fun part is at the end of camp where, the kids get to "dunk" the counsellors with water which always ends with squeals of delight ... This is a truly fun and creative camp that I'm sure any child will enjoy!!

The curriculum is focused on creativity, problem solving and social emotional skills, and they weave these skills together by planning and prepping for weekly skits they put out at the end of each week. My son absolutely loved this camp, and we will definitely return.
