The hotel although situated next to some newish units and the marina to the west feels rather isolated in its position. At the maritime quarter and overlooking the beach, this should be an ideal position, but today, in the height of summer the temperature nudged 15 c and the sky was overcast and threatening to explode it felt old and sad.
It was within this scenario that we entered our largish (and comfortable) room. It immediately smelt musty and damp. I put it down to the hotel's proximity to the sea and the damp weather.

It was so full of water that it squelched with every step. The smell had seeped into every pore if this room. Had the staff honestly never noticed this? Had they never tried to vacuum the carpet and got bogged in the carpet? I've got no idea. I am mystified how this is allowed to happen.
On the other hand, the staff were very accommodating, and immediately tried to resolve the situation by offering us a free meal. I do appreciate this, and do acknowledge their attitude which I found exemplary. The room was so bad though, I do think a refund might have been in order read more
