They had a number of good truck options to choose from. Even some sweets and snacks from Nothing Bundt Cakes and Pop's Kettle Corn. We opted for the brats and bierocks along with some Oktoberfest beers and it was all great! You do have to purchase tickets for alcohol and pretzels but the lines weren't too bad. They did pre-pour the beers which most events have been doing lately. Hate getting a stale and slightly warm beer, especially for $7. They also did some community outreach with the first responders in the area and were offering tours of the ambulances and showing the rigs and stuff. Last but certainly not least, the live music was great. They did a mix of German with some modern songs.

The Wisconsin Beer Lovers Festival is always a good time…read more For an admission price of $60, you gain entrance, a souvenir tasting glass, and unlimited beer and food samples for the duration of the event (which for regular admission price, runs from 1-5pm, or you can pay a bit more to get in a bit earlier). Tons of amazing Wisconsin breweries and eateries are represented at the festival. Highlights for me on the food front were Bar Louie, who brought some amazing soft pretzels that they then dipped in some pretty rockin' queso and Maple Leaf Farms who were offering some duck meatballs that pretty much rocked my socks. As for beer...oh my gosh--with roughly 50 breweries representing--so much Wisconsin goodness! We had a blast trying the many wonderful offerings. There was definitely a beer to suit every palate. The festival takes place at the Bayshore Town Center (on the outdoor streets, which were blocked to traffic). In addition to beer and food, they have live music the duration of the event. Definitely an event I look forward to enjoying again and again. Get to it!

Luckily there's enough parking in the mall parking garages that we didn't have to look for a spot for long. There were so many breweries I love from Milwaukee & Madison and a ton I had never heard of before too. It was fun to try different versions of my favorites kinds of beer and plenty of new different flavors as well. (Buckets to dump them if you don't like it or want to not get drunk and try more.) A lot of people brought little lanyards or carriers for their tasting class which was smart because there were not a lot of high tops to set down your beer and a lot of the food required more than one hand. That being said there was an amazing variety of food. They had everything from salad, lettuce wrap shrimp tacos, specialty popcorn, cheese, pretzels with beer cheese, potstickers, Mac & cheese, bbq pizza, cold cut sandwiches, fudge, cookies, and more. A lot of places offered coupons or giveaways or things to buy too. The best part is the lines were never too long so you could definitely stop at every vendor if you had a few hours and weren't too full!

Both the bandshell and a large tent are used for music (a Vegas style lounge act or a polka band on our visit), and several vendors dish up food. The stands run by the Lions were very reasonably priced (think $3 for a burger or brat) and the other 2 suppliers had higher "Fest" prices. $7 for mozz sticks?? This ain't Summerfest, yo! Beer prices were on the higher side for a community event ($4 domestics) BUT you could PRE ORDER beer tokens and save some money. Never heard of that before, but props to St Francis for embracing the digital age. Bathrooms are a choice of park pavilion bathrooms or portajohns - both were reasonably clean. Not a fan of the pony/camel rides on offer - not many people were doing it and the animals looked sad. Otherwise, a nice community event - pretty low key compared to some others.

And so marks that time of year when all things Wisconsin are on the up and up. It's time to enjoy the warmer weather and hopefully it's dry out. This 2019 Solstice was a dry one despite the long wind up to summer we've all been waiting for. Eastside Summer Soulstice is a particular great event and this year would prove to be one of the best. Why you say, because there are so many new businesses on this corridor of street corners where all roads East intersect. Hacienda Beer, Crossroads Collective and it's many restaurants inside and so on... Plus, all of some of Wisconsin's finest vendors all on the closed of streets and all in the mix. This event is dog friendly and people watching equipped. The sun was shining and although not hot it was a perfect temp to relax and enjoy all this city has to offer. We sat at Hacienda outside and people watched, listened to the 88.9 stage and ate food with our pooch soaking up the sun. Cheers to Summer Soulstice!

Hilarious costumes on great people! You should come…read more Dudes & Walters & Maudes. Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have yous. It's really just a silly & great time in the park. There are a number of beer vendors & White Russian booths. There are random Milwaukee fried festival foods. There are good time gals & fun lovin' fellas. They sell Big Lebowski merchandise that you can't find anywhere else. There are even more adult & more dude-like branches of this festival that infiltrate evening bowling lanes & perpetuate the tomfoolery through the weekend. It's another excuse to wear funny costumes with a lot of fun people & drink outside & joke around with new friends. If you can't find fun in Summertime Milwaukee, I can't help you. It'd be like going to Amsterdam & completely missing out on the tulips. Tulips.

I was a bit surprised to see how much tickets have gone up to but they offered free admission on Sunday if you donate non-perishable foods to Hunger Task Force. Loved everything about helping their cause so it was a no-brainer. They have a lot of different food vendors and have similar beer/drink offerings at most of the stands. I really liked the Scotch ale from Water Street Brewery but would've liked an Irish beer at this festival. You've got to shop around for some things - the sheperds pie varied at many places (as did hand pies/pasties) and you could end up paying more for less than what you're seeing around you. Still, it was all delicious and we had a great time with the live music and dancing.

There were bounce houses and rock climbing along with booths with activities for kids. My 2 year old was more interested in the existing playground equipment on site but enjoyed the music, mascots, popcorn and frozen yogurt. Worth a look!
