The Lexington pancake had cream, lemon curd and a berry compote tart. Yummy is the best way to describe it but the lavender flavoured cream was a bit overpowering - probably just not used to it. Coffee was alright and helped me continue on our food nerd journey through Hobart! All things were reasonably priced too by our Sydneysider standards of usually paying too much for not as good! Definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Hobart!

We were staying just above the wharf and spent about 20 minutes walking over. They had a great array of crusty, sweet and savory pastries, pies, and breakfast items. Perhaps the most impressive thing was the fact that their list of specials took up an entire chalkboard. Everything from sweet rolls too, wallaby and rabbit, pie, to some delicious eggs Benedict and a big English breakfast. They had something for everybody, and everything was really good! The place is housed in a relatively old building with a lot of character! Not so old that you're worried that you would find petrified things in the wall, but old enough that you definitely know the place has had a chance to fall over and won't. The staff was really nice, took great care of us and found us seats very quickly, despite the place being busy. All in all, this is a must check out spot whenever you are in town!

I've dined in just a couple of times, trying their savoury bubble waffles, which are tasty but need to be served with a chutney or something as they are a little dry on their own. The menu has changed again since I dined in and I'll have to duck back in again soon, though they do still appear to have a focus on pancakes and crepes, with maybe a few more savoury options now. I'm 100% here for their fresh fruit teas, though, and I hope they never change. They only use fresh, seasonal fruit, which meant I was hanging out for stonefruit season to finally try the peach flavour, and it was worth the wait. When it's not peach season, I get by with grape, and mango is also tasty. Usually always with coconut jelly and cheese cream, stamping my loyalty card every time for my tenth drink free!

For breakfast however, it wasn't very good for me as there were very limited lower carb/higher protein items. We ordered an almond croissant and a sausage and shiraz roll along with a flat white coffee. We sat outside as they didn't have the AC running and it was really way too warm inside. They have table service inside and servers that run out the food you had ordered at the counter. They were all super friendly and even asked if everything was satisfactory as they cleared our table. Unfortunately, neither of the baked goods were great. The almond croissant had a nicely laminated dough although it needed a tad of salt. The dough was buttery however lacking flavor most likely due to a lack of salt in the butter they used in the dough. The filling was almost like really dense cake batter with basically no almond flavor - the texture seemed almost right, maybe they forgot the almond paste or almond extract. We are used to a much, much stronger flavored almond croissant with almond paste inside. There were nicely toasted almond slices on the top. The sausage roll was a real disappointment. Although it looked really nice it was very heavy, seemed greasy and had two fundamental flaws. The dough was too thick around the sausage so when they wrapped it and baked it there was way too much dough and it was actually nearly raw all along the bottom edges. The sausage was not crumbled or taken out of the casing so when you bit through the roll (or even cut it as we did) the entire sausage slipped right out of the dough and left a big empty hole! It did have nice caramelized onions and some herbs or spinach (didn't eat enough to know exactly!) between the dough and sausage - they might have contributed to the wet/raw sogginess of the dough if they were not cooked enough and then released water into the dough. They were very gracious when I asked if I could get a refund for the sausage roll as I could not find anything else I wanted to get as a replacement. Our server could not have been any more professional and nice about it. He got approval from his manager and gave us the refund. The flat white was very good. If I needed to eat some lovely desserts I'd give them another try given their professional staff and good service.
