I was so blown away by all the different candies and treats they had! The selection is incredible. The most impressive of all is the shop owner, Paula. Not only is she kind and friendly, but she took the time to get to know us, share information about the neighbourhood, and tell us more about her store. The chocolate selection is unparalleled. We were walked through each type of chocolate, where it's produced, and a little backstory about each bar available. I was blown away with Paula's knowledge and you can really tell she is passionate about the products she carries. We grabbed a mix. One of the bean to bar chocolate bars, a lion chocolate bar, and a mixed back of candy. They scoop for you and I wanted to try a mix so I left it up to the pros and I'm so glad I did. If you want imported pop tarts they're 14.99 for a box of six. That's a lot more than the 2.99 you could pay south of the border, but you're likely not going there for a while. The Japanese chocolates are priced in a way that makes them almost indistinguishable from larger bulk-import grocery stores, so there's no reason not to grab them here. However, there is a wall of candy that is a mix of import and local, and they're all at import prices. So, if you don't know what you're after, you might over pay. That said, in this day an age, is anyone really feeling the loss from a four dollar candy bar? Basically... if you just want candy: this is the place for you, if you know what you're after: this is the place for you, if you just want something but you haven't done your homework: this place could let you down when you see the same thing at another store. But, you still get candy, and you saw the price up front. Nothing here feels prohibitive or exploitive. Second, the guys who run this place - polite to everyone - smart storekeepers. A smile and a polite word keep people coming back. Now to the important stuff: A huge range of chocolates from the United Kingdom ... OMG ... toffees, choccies, the works. Some really good biscuits and good, old British "crisps" (Walkers). This place is my not-so-secret indulgence ... mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Ahhh ... yes! Their products are very, very fresh. They pay attention to expiry dates. I spent over $50 on a few items. The owner gave me an itemized receipt. As I was leaving the store, I saw that I was charged for the jumbo version of two items I purchased. I went back to the owner and respectfully showed him the receipt and the items. He was incredibly defensive, scanned the item and showed me the item was marked at the price it should be, but still showed as 'jumbo.' I asked him to scan the jumbo item so I could see I was not being charged for a jumbo and it truly was a system error. He scanned it and nothing was showing up. I'm not entirely sure on this point - but I feel like he was trying to enter a higher price for the jumbo as I stood there so he could justify the incorrect price. I asked for either a refund or to be given the jumbo item since that's what I was being charged for. I don't care if there's an error in your system. Fix it - it's not my problem. The real problem was how this was dealt. The owner wouldn't let me get two words in. He spoke over me for a solid 5 minutes. I kept asking if I could be given the courtesy of explaining what was wrong since he clearly wasn't understanding. I said 'I've been shopping here for ten years. Can you please just let me explain what the problem is without talking over me?" And he said "I don't care. This store's been open for 25 years. It doesn't need you." I was floored. Just a verbal barrage of condescension and abuse. It's a shame. Ten years of patronage out the drain. It's funny that he wrote a review on here asking patrons to give the store another chance. After that display, I'm making it my mission to spread the word on how you shouldn't. The service was the worst I've ever experience in my life. Half the items I purchased are literally expired. Everything is insanely marked up ($10 for a 180g chocolate bar, $3.29 for a regular sized push pop that's not imported). You can also find most everything elsewhere. There was a huge lineup when my gf and I stopped by over the xmas holidays because the other egg waffle shop nearby on the floor was closed for the day. We got some regular egg waffles in a bag and then an ice cream waffle which was basically ice cream inside the same egg waffle batter acting as a shell (kinda like an ice cream sandwich). I thought the egg waffles were decent. Definitely brought back market village nostalgia but surprisingly I liked the ice cream waffle more. Something about the hot, crispy, thinner waffle surrounding cold ice cream was addicting. It might've been the contrasting of temperatures. Anyways, would definitely return for ice cream waffles again but would try a different flavour of ice cream. Price is also VERY reasonable still. Inflation has definitely hit them but it's only reflected slightly in the price which is normal imo.

Price have slowly gone up steady over the years. Flavoured egg waffles are now $5 for chocolate, matcha or yogurt flavour. The lady gives you a bit of a no non-sense attitude most of the time. You can even pay with card machine but there is tax added on top. The egg waffles are served hot and have a nice crisp. Ice cream can also be wrapped in waffle here but isn't as good. You'll notice this spot by the small lineup. They also sell other Asian snacks & dry goods. We returned recently to find a long line at peak weekend rush but not much has changed although service was pleasant. Ice cream waffle & waffle rolls are $5 too. Skip it or hit it? There are now other egg waffle spots in Pacific Mall but this is the OG spot to get it.

We also got a small box of assorted chocolates (a few milk and a few dark). They were very good. The peanut butter and caramel chocolate were probably our favourite. There was unfortunately only one person working there and she had to duck into the back to make the hot chocolate where she couldn't see other customers coming in. Thus in doing so missed out on a customer who got tired of waiting. We would suggest to management that they move the beverage preparation to the front so any in coming customers can be greeted with a smile.
