My husband loves sweets and when we threw a party in my hometown this past weekend, the cake I had ordered just wasn't enough - so we headed to Joanna's to order a selection of treats. When we walked in, we were a little taken aback, as we're used to a "bakery" having huge display cases full of sweets and breads - not so here. BUT - don't be dismayed! We were quickly swept into a private room with a gentleman (I think the owner?) who sat down and asked us about what we wanted. Within 5 minutes, we had ordered (and sampled!) a delicious assortment of Italian cookies and pastries to pick up the next morning. My personal favorites were the pignollis, the lemon gennettes and the cream puffs filled with tiramusu filling. My husband's favorites were, well, all of them. I also just realized that you can order their cookies through mail-order, which is fantastic because I live in Boston. Joanna's gets two thumbs up in my book!

The service was great, the customers were super friendly, and the pricing was unreal. Coming from Hawaii, where everything is insanely expensive, seeing a full breakfast for $7.99 felt unheard of! My in-laws were also able to order from the 55+ menu, which was even more affordable. I ordered the Fabulous 5 -- two meats, two pancakes, and an egg -- and it was plenty of food, so I ended up sharing with my daughter, who absolutely loved the pancakes. On our way out, we checked out the bakery display, which had so many tempting options, but we just didn't have the belly space left! My partner and I came today for takeout. We first discovered Mr. Sticky's after a friend brought some sweet delights of sticky buns. Cinnamon rolls flipped once they came out of the oven. Brown sugar mixture on the bottom of the pan melts into a smooth and silky cap that coats and cascades down the finished batch of rolls. Baked from scratch daily, they only make five versions of buns/rolls: the regular Mr. Sticky, plain cinnamon roll, walnut sticky bun, peanut butter cinnamon roll, and cream cheese cinnamon roll. Beside the star of the show, they also serve homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches served on their homemade rolls. We decided and called this morning an order for a dozen each of the regular Mr. Sticky buns and walnut sticky buns. Greeted by the staff upon entering, our order was ready for pickup in two large cartons. They were still hot arriving at our final destination. After biting through chewy, sticky rolls, you taste a blast of mouth-watering cinnamon and crusty bits of brown sugar. These are very big and can easily be shared and/or eaten over a few days. The pricing was reasonable at $52. It's worthy of a close to 4-hour drive, which we can recommend.
