This can only be a testament to the amazing, loving, nurturing, motivating staff. EVERY SINGLE member of the staff TRULY loves their job and their school. From the crossing guard staff saying good bye as we walk home to the warm smiles given out by everyone we see. The principal Mr. Iriqui has a huge presence on campus and I've heard him greet and say good bye to each child by name. It's one of those places that you go to and you can really tell the staff enjoys what they do. Our youngest had a tough start to TK and the staff really embraced her and made her feel at ease. Now she's sad that it's the weekend and no school for 2 days. The school has so many activities for the children as well as the parents. There are seminars on various topics regarding parenting and education and are really informative. There's always an activity for the kids incorporating something from the STEAM curriculum. Safety and a healthy learning environment is top priority for everyone. I was blessed to help out with picture day last week and got to meet all the kids and teachers from every grade level. This is truly a special place. The kids were all so well behaved. Their teachers were amazing at keeping large groups of kids calm without being nasty. The children with special needs, omgosh the love that poured out of every single teacher was unbelievable. All the teachers know these kids and truly love them and the children definitely know it! The principal, Mrs. Rabasco is fairly new to the school. This is only her 2nd year. She is amazing. From day 1 she knew my child, she knows all the other children by name as well. She has kids standing in lines to give her hugs. She is also completely immersed in the neighborhood even though she doesnt live here. She attends the Spring Valley community meetings and does everything she can to help the neighborhood that La Presa is in , which in exchange helps the families and kids here as well. This place is truly an amazing school and everyone should give it a shot before judging a school without even meeting the staff and taking a tour. Santa Sophia Academy has been an important part of our family for a very long time. I attended SSA…read morefrom Kindergarten through 8th grade, and years later my son did the same. Having experienced the school both as a student and as a parent, I can say that the education we received there went far beyond academics. One of SSA's greatest strengths is its Catholic formation. It is integrated into the way students are taught to treat others, take responsibility, serve their community, and develop into good people. Those lessons stayed with me long after I left SSA, and I have seen the same values in my son. We also experienced teachers who genuinely cared about their students and were willing to put in an incredible amount of time and effort to help them succeed. Mrs. Genna is probably the best example I can give. There was a period when my son was unable to attend school, and every day she emailed us his assignments, explained what he needed to do, answered questions, and provided guidance on her own personal time so that he would not fall behind. She did much more than I would have reasonably expected from any teacher. What makes that even more meaningful is that her support did not end when my son left her classroom. She continued encouraging him for years afterward. I have no doubt that Mrs. Genna, along with many of the teachers he had at SSA, played a significant role in developing the confidence, discipline, independence, and academic foundation that helped him succeed in high school and attend Cornell University. That is also why some of the negative comments I have read about the school, and particularly about Mrs. Genna, simply do not match our experience. We never saw her show favoritism or disregard students who struggled. We saw a teacher who invested an extraordinary amount of herself to her students. Teachers absolutely have a responsibility to teach, communicate, and support their students, but a child's education cannot rest on the school alone. Parents also need to stay involved, reinforce expectations at home, and take an active role in helping their child succeed. I have also read suggestions that families may be treated differently because of ethnicity. As a Filipino family that has been part of the SSA community across two generations, that has never been our experience. SSA has always had families from many different backgrounds, and race was simply never an issue for us. I cannot speak for another family's personal experience, but I would be very hesitant to draw broader conclusions about the school or its staff based on race. No school is perfect, and I am sure every family will have its own perspective. But after attending SSA myself and then trusting the school with my own child for nine years, I can say that Santa Sophia provided both of us with an excellent foundation. It helped us become stronger students, more confident people, and better prepared for what came next both inside and outside the classroom. I will always be grateful to Santa Sophia Academy and especially to teachers like Mrs. Genna who cared for my son. That kind of commitment is difficult to measure, but years later you can absolutely see the impact.

The only thing the principal Kristin Klant cared about and focused was on getting more money but not sure for what? They NEVER took care if the bullying my daughter had to deal with from the moment she started there at 6 grade. No one did anything about it but always made her think it was her fault. I had to make sure to involved the priest to make sure my child could finish the last 3 weeks of school being safe as there had been death threats the principal never took of care of and of course the police was not contacted. There was a very obsessed young girl whom apparently had been suspended from other schools but of course that was not issue for the principal. The only decent teacher there is Mrs Zuniga, math teacher but unfortunately she also failed to handle the bullying issues better. The diocese was informed. Messages were sent to teachers constantly and that was something they did not really like even though they say they are open to communication. A lot more negative comments are to be made for this school.

My only issue here is the parking and the pick up. While the staff works hard to move the line, it's just suitable for the amount of students who attend this campus. At times it can take 30 or more minutes to pick up your child after the bell rings. No fault of the staff, but can be pretty troublesome when your child or yourself have any plans or appointments after school.

The teacher she has is named Ms. Cooper who is youthful and very intelligent, she always seems to be educating the children with many activities that involves team work as well as independent learning. My daughter has never had anything bad to say about her teacher or faculty being rude or disrespectful. Although, this school has a reputation of bullying ; I can assure the staff are on it. My daughter did experience a boy throwing dirt on her head the first months of School and did obtain Lice from other students that brought the outbreak to class. I will not let that effect the good job this school is doing to providing the tools our kids need for success. I remember when i was in elementary i attended a school that was known for being one of the best Elementary Schools for academics and our school had bullying like any other school has today. The Lice outbreak will unfortunately happen to all schools eventually, so i will not deem this School from a 5 star review.
