Thank God I took my daughter out of this school last year. First 2 years there, no issues. Enter kindergarten... long story short, staff called CPS on my family because my daughter was using inappropriate language. The CPS SW found no problems in my home, felt the school might have some cultural bias and felt my daughter would benefit from a transfer. My daughter now has an incredible mistrust of teachers/authority figures. She started wetting herself shortly thereafter. Oh and only one family went to my daughter's birthday party, not that it matters but the only African American family in the school. I'm Filipina. Very sad day. I dont know what is going on at that school but it's not good. My daughter changed after being there. It was sad to see. My daughter is THRIVING in another nearby parochial school. read more

My twins have been attending Trinity for three years. We love it there! The small class sizes, experienced and dedicated staff, and extra curricular opportunities are wonderful! My girls love their teachers and love their school! Trinity has a warm, welcoming feel. The parents are very involved and the teachers and principals are great about communicating with us. I disagree with the 1-star review left by another Yelper. Trinity has students of many races and welcomes everyone equally. If the teacher felt he was not ready for preschool, I'm sure there was a good reason. Perhaps her child was not fully potty-trained when he started preschool. They do have a policy that children must be potty-trained to attend. While it's perfectly developmentally normal to not be potty trained by age 3, it is the policy at Trinity that children must be potty-trained to attend. read more

My kids have experienced every grade at Trinity, from 3-year-old preschool to eighth grade, and we have loved every year! The teachers are wonderful - well prepared to teach and extremely loving. The entire environment on campus is one of love for the children and a desire for their development into healthy, God-honoring adults. Weekly chapel programs bring unity to the school, the older children work with the younger grades to mentor and help them with projects, and the intimate environment of just about 200 students means that the kids see the same faces daily and are loved on by the teachers and other staff members who have been loving on them since they were little. What pushed me over the edge to enroll my daughter after having her at a public charter school was hearing each class stand and recite their Bible verses in chapel. I wanted her to have the experience of hiding God's Word in her heart, and Trinity is the atmosphere where that can happen. I've had a few kids go through their preschool and have loved everything about it! We switched from another Christian school in La Mesa and it was a night and day difference. Love the parent teacher relationships I've developed, the amazing values they instill, the sweet memory making events they put on, the performances, and the high standard they have for behavior. They also have really good academic standards taught in a fun/play based way. And the kids in the elementary and junior high are such fantastic, kind kids! Love Trinity so much! We have had all three of our boys at Trinity for their most formative years for a reason. This place exudes the spirit of Christ and the joy of learning that we wanted to be built into the foundation of their education. The teachers are excellent and credentialed, they care for the children in a genuine way, and they seek to bring out the best in their students. The facilities are safe and create a space conducive to community and learning. The parents are engaged and invited into the learning process! Children feel known and seen because of small class sizes. We have been pleased with the Saxon Math curriculum as it lays the necessary foundation for advanced mathematics. We have been at Trinity Christian since Pre-3. The teachers, staff and administration are FABULOUS! My daughter has received an excellent education, has been in a small class environment, has had plenty of individual attention and direction, has been provided a culturally diverse atmosphere, and has been exposed to lots of educational field trips. My favorite is the day the entire school goes throughout San Diego and serves its community. They go to clean beaches, pack food for homeless kitchens, serve shut ins, visit retirement communities, pack food for soldiers with notes, etc. The Principals, teachers and staff are just absolutely exceptional in every way! My son attended preschool here in the spring of 2016. Our experience was one of prejudice and insecurity. I think the staff are nice people that didnt understand their preconceived notions about an African American boy. I saw my son being singled out and punished for the same behaviors his peers demonstrated. I still feel so uncomfortable about our experience at this school, that after watching a documentary about the prison to pipe line educational system, I felt convicted to write this review. Hopefully, the site has gained some cultural awareness since my son attended. Hopefully, there has been some training for the teachers and administration to identify, reflect, and change the racial biases the we dealt with during our time there. The school climate was not something I wanted my son to continue with or any other child of color to experience. I feel like I owe it to my community to speak out about this issue, because I truly dont feel the Christian values the schools thinks it exemplifies were applied to my family and I. I believe it was because of our race. I regret not raising this concern while my son attended this school. read more

We have been so blessed to be a part of this school for the last 8 years. My boys have learned so much and just thrived under the loving guidance of the amazing teachers and principals. The small class sizes foster increased one on one attention for the kids and I feel that has been very beneficial for my kids. Because both my husband and I work full time, it has been of the utmost importance that they had a safe and fun place to be after school hours. The extended care program at TCS has been great as well. I feel like TCS is part of our extended family! I was involved with Trinity Christian School as the parent of two students from 1982 through 1992. I became a part-time staff member until moving out of the area in 1998. I finished my degree (because of examples and encouragement from TCS teacher/mentors) and returned to TCS to teach 2nd grade from 2004-2010. I'm now a tutor there several days per week. In every capacity I have been impressed by the students and parents, as well as the Godly staff, teachers, and administration. Get to know them and your life will be the better for it! read more

I have two boys (ages 10 and 6) that attend TCS and have done so since they were each 2 1/2 years-old. The teachers and staff at TCS are wonderful! The 3-year-old preschool teacher in particular is loving, competent, all-around wonderful. All of the kids LOVE her. My children still go by the preschool class to give her hugs now and again. Both of my kids will stay at TCS through 8th grade because I cannot imagine them attending school anywhere else and receiving the love and attention they receive at TCS. read more

Both my boys have attended TCS since preschool. My older son just graduated 8th grade & my younger son just entered middle school. No school is perfect but we have obviously had a great experience at this school. The teachers go above & beyond to make sure the students are learning, having fun & preparing them for the next grade. They encourage personal responsibility, leadership & serving the community. The small class size means the kids get a lot of one on one attention. My older son struggled transitioning from preschool to kindergarten & the teacher (who is now co principle) would take walks w/him & pray for him.. giving him a chance to cool down & feel like someone understood & cared. Both of my daughters attended Trinity pre-school, in the 3 year old class and the 4's. I have no regrets and have been very impressed with their knowledge and professionalism. (who knew there was "curriculum for a 3 year old! wow!) ALL of the teachers there are competent and loving. My youngest started a few months early and the teachers did a careful assessment of her and agreed she would be fine in the class, which she was & i was so thankful. Given that my children are "of color" (hispanic) i was initially concerned about their blending into the class and the playground. tsh! we've only experienced love and grace from not just the classroom workers, but the entire staff. the mix of children and the love of the teachers washed my fears away. Kudos mrs. scally, mrs salas, mrs. tapia and mrs murphy! if you are Christian and want a solid Christian environment for your children, consider Trinity for sure. (the only reason i put 4 stars is because i would prefer a k-12 school and they are k-8). cheers. read more

We have been attending Trinity Christian School for 5 years now, since my oldest was in the 3yr old class. He is now in 2nd grade and my youngest is now in Kindergarten, but started when she was 2 1/2. We have been so blessed by all of the teachers there since the beginning, especially with the preschool teachers. They really helped us with our son and all of the changes with starting a school. I am praying that my kids will be able to attend Trinity until 8th grade. We have met some wonderful parents through Trinity and the teachers that we have had have just been amazing. For parents who are looking for a true Christian environment and who believe all children should be treated fairly and respectfully, please do your due diligence when it comes to this school. My son was enrolled in the three year-old preschool class. During his ten days in the class, he was ostracized, belittled, and made to feel inferior to the other children. The teacher insisted that my child had a developmental delay, in spite of the fact that his pediatrician found no cause for concern and said he was developmentally on track with other three-year-old children. I, his mother, am also a licensed clinical Social Worker/ child therapist experienced in recognizing developmental delays, and I did not have any concerns about my son's development. I felt baffled by the teacher's assessment of my son. However, my three year-old son is now saying "mama, I'm brown and I'm different". Since he never talked about skin color prior to being at this school and because he is enrolled in a new preschool where he is doing well and his current teacher has not expressed any concerns about his development, I am now concerned that the assessment of my son, by the teacher at Trinity Christian School, may have been motivated by her unwillingness to work with students of color. I was led to believe that all children are welcomed at Trinity Christian School, but the treatment my son received from the teacher sends a very clear and different message. read more
