I order petit fours, cookies, meat sticks, cheeses, desserts, and candies every year for Christmas. My whole family is always so excited to tear into them! This year I added a Thanksgiving order since our kitchen is being remodeled and I couldn't bake the desserts, which is usually my thing to bring. The apple filled sugar cookies were a huge hit! If you're on the fence about the spiced pumpkins, swing that leg over and jump! I got the box of 24 and they were devoured. As usual, the petit fours and holiday cookies were amazing! The kids love to get the meat sticks in their stockings, and my husband loves the cheese spreads. People who don't order frequently like to complain about the prices, but this is Swiss Colony, this is top quality stuff, and they haven't changed flavors or their top-notch quality since I was a little girl. Do not order from this company. I always pay when I order from a company. They discouraged me and sent a bill. Well this was a gift at Christmas and I didn't think about it. The bill did not come. Then I got a bill for an additional 30 dollars for late fees and interest. I called the company and explained I never received the bill and will pay the full price of the original charge. No they wanted it all. I immediately paid the full price and now after a year they have the bill 3x's that. The people are rude. Who would finance candy? Not me. Unbelievable. read more

Ordered large petit fours box each one decorated per letter as advertised, with Happy Mothers Day. Paid ouch $38. Including shipping. Just found out yesterday 6/19 the box was received sans ordered lettering. Her birthday was also 5/14. She thought it was just a generic gift. No idea it was her Mother's Day gift which is why it never came up in conversation. Incompetently and inefficiently run operation. They sent them all to me instead of the shipping addresses I gave on my order, I had to pay even more to ship them out again. Yes I just had a 45 min phone call with there so called customer service department Wow #!! What a groop of stupid fokes. They called me over $8.00 they wanted to ship me an $84.00 order and I had just paid $60.oo on two accounts mine and mom's, the amount due was $25.00 wow.yak always a damm problem with these guys they act like there doing you a favor letting you order there products Wow #!! Swiss Colony billed me for $430 of chocolates that I did not order, nor did I ever receive. Even though I have disputted the matter for years they have placed it on my credit report, which is the only blot on my report. They sent candy to someone who used my name and an address in a totally different town. They won't tell me where they shipped it, but I am supposed to be responsible for their mistakes. I've been a Swiss Colony customer (and cheerleader) since 1967 when introduced to them by my in laws. Every year since I have looked forward to my Stollen, Dobosh and Macadamia Nut Cake. Mt order arrived last week and it was like getting a different product from a different provider. My beloved firm and eminently sliceable "butter stollen" was dry and crubly and broke apart in little pieces! Most distressing is that when I wrote and complained, I recei d no response, no acknowledgement, nothing! I will have many disappointing breakfasts between now and New Years I miss my annual 2 pound stollen that I singularly eat accompanied by some home made egg nog! The main pet peeve I have with Swiss Colony and there counterparts (i.e. Seventh Avenue, Ginny's, Tender Filet, etc) is that once you place an order Online is that the status never changes ("Not Shipped - Credit Department Reviewing"). No one contacts you and you just wait and wait. Very POOR Customer Service and over-priced products for what you get. Your best bet is getting your cheese from your neighborhood deli. The deserts. like their cheesecake is cheaper, bigger and better @ Costco. As for steaks, Omaha Steaks is the best bet for your money. Bigger portions and much cheaper. Have been a member for years(at least 20). Paid my bill in full, as soon as I received it, on line, and received a confirmation number. I paid it ten days before it was due. I just received another bill with the full amount due plus a late fee. I called the credit department and was told the card used was expired. The number she gave me was for a card I have not had for over a year. It was the card I used before with them but it was not the card I gave them this time. I changed banks and therefore changed cards. I do not know why they used that card but when I told her that was not the card I gave them and gave her the number of the card with which I had paid my bill. I once again paid the entire bill. After all of the money I have spent with them and the years I have used them, I thought that they would waive the late fee since it was their mistake. Nope. I immediately closed the account. Ive given them the check numbers, dates that Swiss Colony deposited the checks and the date that Swiss posted them with my Bank. But, no, this was not good enough, I'm still getting phone calls, demanding payments!! These people, that are calling are not even in the United States! I have asked each time to speak with a customer supervisor. They just wanted to be hard nosed. I have had no problems with Swiss Colony's, I was surprised as to the size of the sample pack. I ordered one for myself to see what my friends were getting and I was shocked, It was a snack for a dog, HAHA. It tasted very nicely and I enjoyed the Turkish delights very much, which to me was quite a bit larger in size then the snack pack. I think this next year I will order the candy. I am sorry to here that there were a few who did not have a good experience. The people I talked to on the phone were very pleasant and helpful. We will see how it goes next year. read more

Ordered a tort cake on Dec.18th as a gift (Christmas delivery guaranteed) and never heard back from Swiss Colony until mid-January when they sent a letter of apology saying it was undeliverable and to send another address to resend the tort. It is now 6 weeks later and I think I have been more than patient. Called today and they said they called to let me know the product is not made anymore, I never got the call . . . I was excited about ordering the petit fours and cheesecake variety pack until they arrived. I paid for expedited shipping so we received them within 2 days of them shipping. I am in Southern California (they had this information for shipping purposes) and it is always warmer here. The package came and both the petit fours and the cheesecake were packaged together in a vacuum sealed bag. I opened both boxes and the cheesecake was mush and inedible and the petit fours were melted and destroyed. I could not believe that they shipped those items without any kind of cooling or in a package that would help keep them cool. When I called swiss colony they stated that they don't normally ship to California and that they ship places where it is cooler and that is why they do not ship these items with any kind of cooling. Cheesecake must be kept refrigerated so I asked them how they can ship this particular product without any kind of cooling. Again, they stated that they don't normally ship to locations where it is so warm. Okay, so I asked that they reship the items but to please place them in packaging that will keep the products cool on their trip over as they had told me that they do have that packaging but they use it for other products that must be kept cold. 3 days later (I paid for 2 day shipping) my package arrives exactly the same as the first one except this time they placed the petit fours into the vacuum sealed bag upside down...I guess to guarantee that they did not survive the trip over. No cooling, no nothing. I called again and they offered to reship....no thank you. They finally refunded my money. I will never recommend using swiss colony.... read more

My mother ordered a good amount of food on the credit they offer. She had everything signed up for two day delivery for our vacation. We didn't receive a notice that she didn't qualify for that much credit a week later. Well, she would've been approved if she sent a check of $21 dollars. Terrible customer service. A couple of years ago, I ordered from them on Dec. 3. By the 21st, the order hadn't arrived. I called, only to be handled by a nasty, ornery woman in some New Jersey warehouse who basically said "tough luck." She was unapologetic, lippy, and blamed everything but the kitchen sink, including the weather. It had been a routine December and I thought Wisconsin was used to winter weather. How naive of me. I told her I needed the items for a holiday party and she actually asked me, "well, when is the party?" The order finally came the next day, Saturday, miraculously - but it would have been Christmas Eve or later, if it hadn't arrived then. No apologies. No effort to throw in something extra for the delay. And one of the cheeses had burst open in transit. Don't bother. It's all waxy, tasteless garbage, anyway. I order the same items every year around the end of year holidays ( Thanksgiving, Christmas) this year I had to reenter my checking account information was one digit off in the banks routing number discover the error called the customer service number was charged two dollars to correct the error this happened in February payment posted to account March payment also was posted correctly. April payment was rejected due to bank routing number was incorrect. when I attempted to pay the balance in full after talking to Customer service person who explained to me that my bank did not pay because of the incorrect routing number the lady could not explain why the two prior payments posted with no problem, and if I wanted to pay off the balance due I would have to mail a check which would have made a late payment causing a fee to be charged. Long story short I used a credit card and closed the account their business practice is messy. read more

WORSE COMPANY EVER...... I place an order before christmas, total came to $60 & took their payment plan that was a big mistake. here's why.. I got the product late in dec upon receiving there was no bill, so I sent them $10 for at that time didn't know what the payments were going to be .then in jan I got the bill & stating a late charge. i was like what??? how can I have a late charge I called them & was told it was a mistake & that my payments will be $20 a month. I said ok. so I sent that amount in leaving now a bal of $40 never got a bill for feb but sent in $20 and the same amount in march & april. I get a collection letter from them stating that I still own them $27 I was like no Im all paid off, so I respond to their letter stating this is a mistake. well wks went by never heard back, then i start getting harnessing letters 2 every week from them demanding i paid the $27 & that I have ignored their letters. I had respond to them 3 times & even sent proof of all the money orders, whoever runs the accounting dept or does the accts sure does not know how to count, i state in my letter if I paid you $70 on a $60 bill i overpaid you by $10 dollars so how do I still own $27 dollars.. and of course they never ever respond just keep sending harassing letters.my last letter to them I demanded them to close my account for I will never do buss ever again. don't do buss with this company they are the worse and on top of it all they put the $27 on my credit on which I'm just found out. however this time around a legal letter was sent to them, hopeful they will do the right thing after hearing from a legal team. They have such cheap and amazing deals I spent less then $80 for about $500 retail. I had so many bags! I bought a set of silverware that had a retail price of $199.99 I paid $9.99. The bags of chocolate were .75cents and and some were $1.00 they even had elk beef sticks for .50 cents (every man loves beef stick) Too much to write about you got to come out and try it! read more

Had such an unfortunate incident today over a holiday order. Swiss Colony opened up a credit line without our knowledge or approval, and then sent a very threatening letter regarding our credit rating. Tried several times to call only to have them "not here - it's after hours". Finally got a person on the line today, who was so unhelpful trying to resolve this issue, and not once did anyone at Swiss Colony even apologize for the trouble that we were going through. My husband has had Swiss Colony as a family tradition since he was a young child (he's now in his 40s), but this was such an awful experience I'm quite sure that we won't purchase from them again. Please be aware that when you make an order, "you are agreeing to a line of credit" for your purchase. Such a shame what's happened to this company. read more

I used to work for this company as a customer service / order taker on the phone lines not that long ago. After a few years I quit because I could no longer live with myself being required (in order to keep my job) to purposely mislead customers about how great the foods and products were. Employees are timed for their calls and penalized if calls are too long (minutes.) It can get you fired if you need an extra minute to talk slower or be a little helpful, want to be polite and give good customer service. They want employees to rush, rush, rush; be blunt and try to just blow people off as if they're uneducated and "we" know everything. I hated having to treat adults like children. I felt like a paid con-artist. By mail, they "target" a majority of their catalog mailings to people in poor areas of the country and those with low incomes, and tease them with their Choose and Charge payment offer (that EVERY customer can have.) They encourage workers to get people to order up to the full charge amount allowed (usually $400) even if they only wanted a box of candy. They let you pay off the charge balance at $5.00 a month so the poorer people think this is such a great thing! But... you have to go digging to China or ask a ton of questions to find out that you're paying over 20% interest! (Usually customers don't learn this until they receive their first statement and by then the debt is incurred. It can take these customers YEARS to pay off their balance and they charge fees on fees so look out! The company thrives on this customer abuse (as I saw it) ... employee abuse too if you think about it. You think you're dealing with a good ol' all American cheese company in Wisconsin and yes, most of the foods are made there; but if you're calling in a payment you're likely talking to someone across the globe who speaks poor English. There are many people in Wisconsin who could use a job manning these phones from their home (which the majority of agents do.) There's no need for the company to go outside the country for home- phone employees other than to be money hungry to line the company's pockets. Meats and cheeses are tiny compared to what you see in their photos. Even the tins of other treats are photographed to look so much larger than they really are. Their chocolates and meats are OK but cakes - oh my gosh... they're dried out and often crumbly. They say they make them fresh (and they do), but then they freeze them and sell you the oldest ones from the freezer (months old.) As for their other non-food goods... if it's a name brand product (a name that you recognize) you're OK. If not, don't waste your money. Towels are rough and have threads hanging, enamel pans chip after only 3-4 uses, metal drinking cups are so thin you can dent them by simply holding them and many of their electronics won't last you a year.. 90+% of the non-food items they sell are made in China or India. If you ask the order taker they will go to great lengths to avoid telling you that. Go to Hickory Farms, your grocery store, Dollar Store to get better quality or similar products and save yourself the exorbitant shipping fees! I will give them credit for two things. Their cashews are large, wonderful and fresh, and if you can go into their outlet store in Monroe, Wisconsin you'll get great bargains because you can see and touch what you are buying plus you don't pay for shipping. read more

I have never had to do this before & my credit is better than the past 2 years I ordered. And this was AFTER I received a catalog saying my credit limit has increased. Their partner companies ( Home at Five & masseys) have no problem taking my orders on credit, so I don't know what was wrong with Swiss Colony. I do know that I will never order from them again! Take a look at the dates of the reviews for Swiss Colony. All the good reviews are from several years ago. And, if you look at the "filtered" reviews, they're recent and horrible. In fact, I had basically the same experience as one of these poor folks. Wish that review had been visible and I'd read it before ordering from Swiss Colony. My experience with Swiss Colony this year has been a nighmare. HORRIBLE customer service!! I ordered on line. The confirmation I received had the wrong items, and I called to correct it, and they said it couldn't be corrected, as the item had already shipped! Three days later, I got an email saying that the item had just shipped. I called again, explained the problem, they said they had to transfer me, I then spent 20 minutes on hold and was then hung up on. Very frustrating. NEVER ordering from them again. read more

I don't know what has happened to Swiss Colony's customer service. I have been hung up on three times in the past two days. I call, go through a phone tree, finally get a live person and discuss the situation I want handled only to find out the live person cannot help me (I'v invested a good 5 minutes in this call by now), get transferred to "Customer Service" and promptly get hung up on. I go to the web site and e-mail...over 8 hours ago and I have not even received a confirmation of the e-mail. I have no idea if the situation (orders for one person listed on another person's list) is going to be handled or not - but right now I also have no confidence the situation will be handled. This is really a shame as I have used Swiss Colony FOR YEARS but I cannot tolerate this lack of customer service. Products are fairly good prices are high as is the shipping and handling. Baked good such as cake rolls and petit fours are way too sweet and too dry, Stick to the candy and the cheese. I order candies for my physicians and other people who do me a service. The mini butter toffee is awesome, Fruitcake cookies are good. But stay away from the cakes, you could go into a diabetic coma. AS for their customer service after 20 years of doing business with them it has dwindled down to non existent, everyone is going through PMS. If you have a dispute heaven help you , The Customer is not always correct and you will get a mouthful of sass for your aggravation. YOU have to jump through hoops to settle a dispute.
