I…read morewant to preface this review by saying I had never been horseback riding before so I was sort of nervous about not knowing what to expect, but everyone we interacted with was super friendly and made me feel at ease. To set it up, I filled out a form on their website and then chatted with Kathy via email. She was very easy to communicate with and answered all my questions thoroughly. She was even accommodating to a last minute schedule change due to weather, which we appreciated! When it finally came to the day of our ride, we drove out to Coupland, which was about 40 mins away from where we were staying in Austin. Once we arrived, we had to drive down a long, rocky, dirt road for around half a mile. I wasn't aware that it would be that far down the dirt road, so I began to worry that we might be in the wrong place. So, I gave Kathy a call, and she assured me we just had to keep driving down the road. So, my advice for future visitors is to be prepared to drive down a rocky road until it ends, and then you're there! Once we did arrive, we met a handful of very friendly folks. They had us sign paperwork and borrow boots and helmets. Then they let us choose our horses and practice in a little corral before heading on the trail. Again, I want to reiterate how I had absolutely zero experience riding a horse and they did a great job of being patient and reassuring with us. Our guide, Bailey, then led us on a lovely ride around the farm, for a little over an hour. Bailey was so friendly and easy to talk with, and had great energy. She stopped to take photos of us several times which was great. Our horses pretty much just followed her horse and we didn't have to do much work at all in directing them. The property was beautiful and remote, and our ride was calm and serene. Just what we were looking for. Overall, our trail ride at Tri-Star was a fantastic experience and made for a really special way to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday. Thank you so much!

I have a sign up to leave my horses mask on due to her eye and Nina keeps taking it off creating eye infections for me to pay for and blaming me and almost lost my horses eye. The disrespect and lack of care and communication is horrible business. There's no accountability and to allow a narcissist like Nina to ruin a farm and hurt animals is insane. I wish this farm all the best - they need to keep the care of animals and communication #1 which has been a struggle for years & no change.

When my registration information was collected I was told that my child got into camp. A week later I was called and told that my child was on a huge wait list and that they didn't get into camp. Of course this meant it was too late. All the other sessions of the camp were full and I'd booked the rest of the summer. I am really disappointed. They are doing nothing about it other than "fixing thing for next year".

I live in Cedar Park so it was close to my house. There is the perfect amount of space and the space was ideal for setting up the food and having places for everyone to talk and eat. I hired a catering company to provide the tea service; they provided almost everything needed for an amazing tea but we were able to use some of the Kitchen House's dishes and supplies to fill in the few items we needed. The space was generous in size; parking was free and there was plenty of parking. The space is light and airy; the bathroom is spotlessly clean. My guests and the catering staff were raving about how great the venue was. The rental process was very easy and the rates very reasonable. I would be very happy to rent this space in the future for other events.

The main advantage of the class vs. training them myself is that KH is a dedicated teaching kitchen. They are equipped and staffed to show kids how to prepare many dishes over the course of a week, whereas I have the time, energy and ingredients to maybe teach them one thing. I'm glad we signed up for this and will be back next Summer for another class or two.

They really care about their students and their program. My sons have had wonderful experiences at the school and have grown as people as well as musicians . Being a part of the SOR performance program has given them a sense of belonging as well as lifted their self-esteem. My eldest son was able to get a lucrative job, though he is still an older teenager due to his knowledge and hard work at SOR in addition to some other great qualities he has. SOR is a place where students up to 18 years old can be themselves and discover music and get a chance to perform in actual venues in this wonderful city that is so much defined by music. Adult students have the chance to learn instruments or singing that they may have always wanted to learn, but never had a chance, for others, it proves to be a great activity be where they can develop skills make friendships. They too get to perform in venues. All of the students have one-on-one lessons with professional musicians. I just can't say enough good things about it, and I know that my children are better for having been a part of the SOR family.

TLDR: The only good thing about this location is the teachers. They are incredible. However, the…read moredirectors at this location are extremely unethical in their practices, and they're following suit of the massive corporate chain above them. The teachers really are incredible. I know many kids have had a great experience because of them! They work hard and care about what they do. They also only make about $15/lesson, while parents are paying more than 5x that per lesson. That's at least $55 that goes... somewhere else.... These incredible teachers are refused benefits including health insurance. They are forced to apply for government assistance and charitable aid to get coverage. Indeed, there is a local nonprofit that provides assistance to musicians whose employers otherwise refuse to: HAAM. This location even unashamedly uses their students to fundraise for HAAM, showing the world what good philanthropists they are, while their own employees have to rely on them to afford health insurance. If your child does go there and shows enough talent or drive, they will be pressured to audition for the "B-Team." This is a great opportunity for kids to play gigs in front of audiences, especially if that's what they're passionate about. Unfortunately, however, this group of students is exploited and overworked. They are used as free marketing and labor at events, and the number of required weekends can be overburdensome and lead to burnout. Just be wary, and know a lot of the group quit this year. If your child is set on a rock-star dream, learning covers, and playing on stage at a venue in a rockband setting, more power to them! It's a lot of fun, and there are other great alternatives. BandAid is a great choice, or even the southwest location of School of Rock (private franchise). If your child is set on learning an instrument or furthering their musical education, please consider other options first. This School of Rock location is a corporate franchise, where money is valued over people, and the two directors take full advantage of their employees and students. Private instructors abound, all for less money and more learning, especially music theory and even just reading music. It will also be cheaper, since you'll pay teachers directly, and not the overhead of an international corporate chain, which is only a mere portfolio of an even more massive company, Youth Enrichment Brands. At the end of the day School of Rock is a business owned by an even bigger business. With a CEO, shareholders, profit margins to hit, and money to make. They will put profit over people at every level, despite their convincingly authentic appearances. The music director even makes some of his serious leadership decisions by rolling a die, as if it's a game to him? Our kids deserve better. -From a parent of a former student and spouse of a former teacher.

The pool has strict rules of no food and drinks other than water, but it keeps the place clean and risk free, which is actually appreciated by me. The pool stays between 68°-70°, which is a temperature not too cold on impact, but still super relaxing to hang in. The pool is massive with plenty of people hanging around in all corners. It's a great spot in summer but definitely not a hidden gem. It's an extremely well-known gem. I'm curious how populous it is during peak times, but that random Wednesday afternoon was perfect. My wife and I sent our 6 year old daughter to camp at Switch Willo Stables last year and so glad we did! This is a very professionally run camp program. There are only adults leading each of the groups of campers with six to eight younger counselors that assist with each child and their chosen horse. The younger counselors are so good with the little ones. Each group has a horse type name with color coded bracelet. Our daughter was with a pony and loved the idea of getting to keep the wristband. The riding lesson is not just a session - it is actual riding instruction. The instructor was so patient and was very cautious about the children doing what they felt comfortable doing. At the show on Friday for the parents we could not believe how much our daughter had learned in only five days. She got an award and a ribbon. Our daughter came home tired every day but was still anxious to regale us with how the colors of the horses differ, what the parts of the saddle are, how to sit on a horse with her heels down, what the farrier taught them, and how much fun everything was, including the 3' above ground pool that they get to swim in (with a professional lifeguard on duty, big A+ in my book). Finally, a summer camp program that actually lives up to the hype! We could not be more pleased that we selected this stable for our daughters to attend camp this summer. The staff is adult and attentive. The younger counselors are knowledgeable and so helpful with the little ones. Everyone had a wonderful time. The little show on the last day was well executed and every camper received a ribbon and an award along with a little speech about each one of them. We will be back again next year and the year after that and the year after that! Plus we are looking into getting the girls into lessons! Thank you for an unbelievable camp experience! read more

This camp was an amazing experience, from learning to take care of the horses/tacking them up, to learning the skills to ride a horse. The trainers were very detailed when they were teaching us to ride a horse, and I learned rapidly from the fun exercises that we did to strengthen our horseback-riding skills. And to top it all off, we displayed things that we learned over the course of the week on Friday in a little horse show, ending the camp with a spectacular bang! I sincerely recommend this camp, with it's welcoming atmosphere and awesome counselors, and most of all, you will create memories that will last a lifetime. read more

Switch Willo is my HAPPY PLACE. The lessons are fabulous-they actually give you some freedom but also have structure and guidance. The horses are well looked after, the grounds are immaculate and the staff and riders are friendly and welcoming. I would live here if I could :) read more

Bonus: every staff member, boarder, and rider I've met has been warm and welcoming. No one is pretentious or snobby and everyone seems to be there for the joy of riding and the pursuit of horsemanship, not ribbons. Maverick Horseback Riding is for people who want the real experience. Our guide Emily was wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable. She is a total pro. But you also have to give it up for the owner Joan Marie. She is friendly but very blunt. She is not there to play nice or baby you. She is there to teach you how to properly handle a horse. If you are shy or easily offended, you might want to look elsewhere. You need to be able to take direct feedback and use it to improve your riding game immediately. They start you off with the fundamentals like brushing, saddling, and mounting. You are expected to actually do the work. They even give you cowboy boots to wear which makes you feel right at home. I rode Sheila and we spent about thirty minutes on a short trail just reviewing the basics while Joan Marie gave proper instruction on what to do and what not to do. After that initial lesson, both ladies took us out on the trails for about an hour of riding. I think if we had gone to some other ranch that just let us be lazy rookies, we would not have had nearly as much fun. We left feeling like we actually accomplished something. Huge thanks to Emily and Joan Marie for a great day.

Quiet, safe, great personalized care from people who really, truly love horses. They have both English and Western boarders. A nice arena with sand footing and lights, a perimeter-of-the-property riding trail that is fenced and safe for younger riders to use to build confidence, and an obstacle course in the making to allow you to work your horse from the ground or the saddle. Have a small round pen, too. In the spring, the grass is amazing. The barn has a large breezeway for tacking up, etc... Lockers, too. Clint, Heather, Lexi, and Michael took such great care of my horse that I left him with them for over 6 months while I got my new place ready for him to occupy in another city. They have been more than I could ask for when it came to loving and caring for Rusty in my absence, even taking him to the vet for me when necessary!! My horse required special care for a medical problem and they came to my rescue. No group of people could be better! We are happy in our new place, but we miss our barn family more than I can say. It's also one of the most affordable hunter/jumper facilities in Austin for boarding and lessons, and relatively convenient to town (especially with the new tollway to Manor). I'm an experienced rider who took lessons here for many years. I only boarded a young prospect for a short period of time, and so relied on other owners and Stacie to provide me with horses to jump in lessons and take to shows. There was always an interesting and challenging horse available to me, and even a couple that I connected with and will remember forever. As for facilities, there are two outdoor arenas. One is grass footing, and the other is a large sand arena where the lessons are usually conducted. The barns are airy and clean, and there are plenty of acre sized paddocks for turnout. There were multiple issues that I shared with the owner, Amy, such as the lack of detail and communication, unorganized scheduling, and an overall poor experience as an adult rider at this barn. When they pushed me to pay for a new month of lessons before I had even finished my previous months lessons I went ahead and paid ($480). After multiple issues scheduling with my trainer, including me arriving at the barn at 7am on a Sunday for no one to be there because they were out on a race and messed up scheduling, I decided that this barn wasn't the right fit for me. I asked for a refund of the $480 I paid only a couple day prior (which I had not used yet for any lessons) and their response was that they had already spent the money on horse feed and could not return me the money even though I hadn't taken any lessons for that month yet. Rather than fighting back and forth, I decided to just let them keep the money as it seems they were not in the position to return it and must've really needed it. However, I walked away feeling taken advantage of especially after all the money I had already invested at this barn. I even volunteered a day and came in bright and early to help with morning barn chores. Sad that it happened this way but I would suggest that if you are an adult rider or even a parent who wants to ensure your kids are getting lessons worth your money, that you explore your options first before riding here.

Watching them welcome newcomers, especially the young ones, is such a pleasure! If you and yours end up committed to barrel and pole racing, I can't imagine a better place to hook up with. My daughter has flourished here and Amy and Adri have helped her realize her true potential. They know everything going on locally and invite us and our daughter to so many races. It's been great and we look forward to many more years with them.
