We enjoyed this tour very much. Interesting to see how this family lived. Guides were very…read moreknowledgeable and friendly. Price was only $2 per person. (Free samples of spruce beer in the kitchen)

A short journey…read more back in time The Cossit House was built in 1787 and is the oldest house in Sydney. It was built by Ranna Cossit, the first Anglican minister in the area and his wife Thankful. They sure had cool names back then. It' looks pretty much the way it did back in the 18th century and is preserved in excellent condition. For 2 bucks you get to wander around and check out all the dark rooms filled with period furniture and artifacts. Even some authentic chamber pots to examine although they won't let you actually use them. The house has low ceilings and itty, bitty rooms. Care must be taken to negotiate the narrow stairs and I ended up bonking by head several times on the low over hangs. Just part of the experience. The people working there are dressed up in period costumes and know just about everything there is to know about the place. They eagerly answered all my stupid questions and obviously love what they are doing. It's tour is very informal, you can just walk around and take your time, really getting a feel for the house. There is a small gift shop but when I was there they didn't have any trinkets or crummy t-shirts but some nice local crafty things. A cool place to visit if you enjoy learning about the history and culture of Sydney and Cape Breton. A short journey back in time

What a great experience! We went one of the last days of the season, knowing we likely wouldn't see…read morepuffins because they had migrated early. We didn't see any, but that was ok because it was still a great experience. The boat has some cover and it was comfortable. Donelda narrated and told us about what we could expect and some history of the area on our way to the islands. The journey itself was beautiful. A major highlight for us was getting to see bald eagles up close (right next to the boat) as she feeds them on the way. The tour could've been about bald eagles and I would've been happy! We saw lots of different types of birds, bald eagles of different ages, and seals! Lots and lots of seals. We also got to see the puffin breeding grounds and learned about them. That just made us want to come back and do it again in the future. Originally we didn't have enough people to take off (need 10, we had 9). Not everyone had shown up. However, someone asked if we could pay for the extra ticket and we happily split it with them. I suggest bringing cash, the credit machine was down. I was able to pay via PayPal but cash would've been easier I think.

Best boat trip ever! We saw puffins, seals, bald eagles, cormorants, mini penguins and lots of…read moreother bird species. Worth the money completely. There was also great veiws of mountains and cliff's. Best part of our trip to Canada from NC. We would do it again! Thanks for the great boat tour!

Came up here during Christmas. There's a reason why the entire place is empty. Its cold, windy,…read moreand snowy. But you can experience raw natural beauty with zero crowds. Come prepared though. Awd and snow tires are a must. Satellite communication devices or starlink is also recommended as we had very large swaths of the drive without cell service. And if your car breaks down or you get stuck in a snow drift you are screwed. I think there was a part of the drive where I went easily 90 minutes without passing by anyone. I also wouldn't really recommend coming up here with an electric vehicle during the winter. But we enjoyed our time here. Just stayed at our Airbandb, cooked, played board games and reconnected with nature and our family.

It is a worthwhile drive for sure. It helps to have time to take in all the historical…read moredestinations, get a seafood meal along the way, go hiking and have good weather for viewing -- or else it's just another marine drive with maybe one or two spectacular views compared to other world class marine drives such as along the Oregon, Northern California and a big Sur coastlines where the wow moments are at every turn. While I wasn't as impressed with the destination drive route and park in general (as much the tourism ad copy raised expectations) there was a sense of uniqueness and individuality to the features that present themselves to the avid traveller.
