    Soft shell crabs

Fresh seafood at its best. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the fried baby crabs were crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Everything tasted like it had just come out of the ocean. If you're in Sydney and love seafood, this place is definitely worth a visit. Great selection, great quality and a fun market atmosphere.

The Sydney Fish market has recently been rebuilt and has great views. It is a combination of food court and restaurants. I'm glad I had lunch beforehand because I thought it was a bit overpriced and more of a tourist destination. Not a typical fish market as everything is spotless. The fishing boats are below so I'm guessing they process the fish on the ground floor. Lobster was over 100 AUD per kg. Many food options as well as fishmonger's. There were also sushi vendors. plenty of stadium style benches so you could always bring your own lunch and buy other accoutrements from the multiple vendors. It is also one of the terminus for the Glebe shore trail.

The new Sydney fish market... right across from the old building... Wow, what an impressive building. Not only is it gorgeous, but it has so many environmental features that are just amazing. Energy efficiency build in/ I forgot all the details, but any tour should be able to tell you more. Highly recommend the tours here because otherwise you will miss a million details here. We also gained access to the auction room where in the wee hours of the day, the fish are auctioned off via a Dutch auction mostly with only a few exceptions. As others have mentioned, the upstairs floor has great restaurants, food court, smallish shops, fishmongers and more. There are seating options inside and out. I recommend sitting outside and enjoying the view of Black Wattle Bay and the Anzac bridge. Just be careful about the birds, they seem to be always hungry and get quite aggressive trying to steal you lunch. There is also a pier and a park like area beside the building with shade trees and park benches to hang out at.

Quite an incredible place. Seafood heaven is probably the easiest way to explain it. Anything and everything seafood related you will find here. Fresh catches, oysters, sushi, and a lot more. Had to start with a delicious fresh lobster roll followed by some freshly shucked oysters. There were a few different spots with oysters so there's a lot to choose from. A ton of freshly made sushi so had to grab a few pieces. They even have a ton of fresh catches that you can either take to go or have them cook for you right there! The place is very large however seating can be a little limited. Plenty of options for everyone and everyone working there is very nice and can easily help you. A must visit

Sydney Fish Market is the best place to be for all the seafood lovers. Truly the best oysters I have ever had (which is saying a lot coming from a Maryland local herself!). The offerings were all extremely fresh and so fairly priced. Everyone at each booth and restaurant was so kind. The fresh dried mango was a highlight and the pastries were abundant and delicious. It's crowded yet lines move quickly. Honestly, the other people there are on a mission and not friendly but move about calmly and enjoy your time. It's worth doing multiple laps before deciding what to get and enjoy all the things you want!

Fabulous seafood market!!! Every type of seafood you can imagine brought in fresh daily. Bakeries, cheeses, nuts and chocolates, restaurants and so much more. Super clean!! Places to sit and eat scattered around.

We went to the old Sydney Fish Market in Oct, 2025. The new market was working out the kinks and had not opened yet. Positives: Super fresh seafood at reasonable prices. We chose Nicholas Seafood bc it was in the middle of the market, and it has good prices; Great gathering place for Azn families on a Sat. Azns know where to find a good deal; Negatives: Tough seating. Pro tip. There is seating upstairs; Aggressive birds; Chaotic AF; I wish the new facility was open during our stay. Nonetheless, we had good, fresh local seafood at great prices.

If you love seafood, this is the place to be in Sydney! You can walk around and see all the unique seafood that is native to the Australian waters. There's a few seafood that we don't have in the states but were able to try here! The mudcrab was great! I would highly recommend eating your seafood here!

A vacation in Sydney is not complete without a visit to the third-largest seafood market in the world! Pretty much any seafood that you would want can be found here, whether in its raw form or cooked at one of the food stalls. It seemed like a majority of people came to simply grab a bite to eat, so the food hall was extremely busy when we arrived around 2:00P on a Thursday. People were literally packed like sardines inside, so we couldn't even get up close to view any of the menus. We decided to browse the raw seafood vendors across the parking lot before entering the food hall again. The food hall offers seafood that's raw, grilled, and fried, in addition to sushi and more. If you're looking for something sweet, they also have a Machi Machi boba tea stand and a small bakery. I got a grilled seafood plate from Nicholas Seafood and since it was almost closing time, they had some good end-of-day specials! Some of the food stands have a few tables nearby, but a majority of the seating is outside where there are rows of tables with umbrella coverings. Just be on alert for the aggressive and hungry seagulls! They would perch on top of the railings and umbrellas trying to snatch food from any distracted guests. Most people actively tried to protect their meals at all costs, but others were totally surprised as a seagull landed right next to their plate. The parking lot looked pretty congested, but some employees were doing a good job directing the traffic. If you're in the Darling Harbour area, I'd recommend walking here (about 20 minutes), and then rewarding yourself by enjoying the freshest catches of the day.

Grilled salmon, cheesy half a lobster, fried fish

This place cost millions to built. It reminded me of a hugh museum or an airport terminal with parking below. Massive building with stadium seats overlooking the boats and water. Plenty of space to sit outside but you are watched closely by the birds waiting for their turn of the crumbs. Inside are rows and rows of fresh seafood in their tanks. Gigantic lobsters and crabs, hundreds of dollars each. Amazing. Im sure for restaurants and rich people to buy. I give zero stars for their bathroom. Long lines for the ladies! We bought some prepared seafood at Seafood Cafe. Its on the pic with napkins. They have this display case of ready made food. No idea how much things cost. You have to look at their board but you got to figure out what is what. Food was ok. They got people with ipads taking orders. High tech. You can see the cheesy stuffed lobsters, fish and chips, and grilled salmon. That is what we ordered. You pay and wait. Their sauces cost $1 each. You got to have tartar sauce and garlic sauce. We found a table and started stuffing our face. We were starving.

This is a wonderful, iconic place to visit to satisfy your seafood fix! There was a good mix of high end restaurants and more casual, affordable options. So many choices from fish, to lobster, to seafood fried rice, to crab, to sushi, to octopus, to scallops, to mussels, and more. I ended up ordering from 2 of the spots there. The first round I just got the Lobster Mornay, which is a lobster tail covered in irresistible melted cheese with garlic. The lobster was nice and tender, while the cheese was rich and creamy. Then I grabbed a salt and pepper crispy soft shell crab, as well as fried fish. The crab was delightfully well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The fried fish was oh so crunchy and flaky. I definitely plan to return to beautiful Sydney, and would come back here, as there are so many yummy looking offerings!

Super crowded when we went, GPS was a bit confused on which intersection to turn in. Definitely recommend walking around the market once before deciding which booth to buy from, there are multiple booths selling the same thing! The lobster was amazing for its price and it was super fresh. There's outdoor seating area but be careful of the seagulls they're vicious and always eyeing my sashimi and lobster.

    Tung D.

We come here every month to get the grilled Kingcrab Legs in Mentai sauce. Decadent! They also have a lot of selections of sushi / sashimi from fish markets around, how ever the sushi quality is not as high as restaurants' quality. The freshness was great though Just love this place!

Great food and true fish market. If the new market is half as good as the old one, it is worth a stop to have lunch or grab something.

Not many people can afford to pay for parking at Sydney fishmarkets or make a special trip to Pyrmont to buy fresh fish. This place brings the fish to you! When you walk through the plastic flaps and into the giant cool room, it's evident what is for sale. Fresh fish and all different kinds of seafood lines the walls, so close you could touch it. But you don't, because there are people in gumboots, gloves and hairnets waiting to pick out the produce of your choice. There are people in the back gutting fish for the shop, so if you want to buy something whole, they can fillet it for you on the spot. To get an idea of price, the most recent visit I bought salmon cutlets for about $18 per kilo. A bit cheaper than the salmon fillets at $24 per kilo. Beats supermarket prices in the salmon stakes by at least $10 and makes eating fresh fish an affordable habit. If going at Christmas or New Year time, or any other holiday period be prepared to wait in a queue outside. Then be prepared to take out a whole garbage sized bag full of seafood for your holiday celebrations. Faros Bros is always busy and at super busy times there is a ticketing system. Parking is a bit hairy, with only 6 or so spaces in front of the shop, and on street parking a little difficult. There are now more spaces on the other side of the road, but take care when looking for a park as it's in a one way street with cars crossing from one lane to the other depending on which direction they are going.

The unlucky Crustacea are my flavour of the month right now, after I discovered how easy it is to make your own Singapore chilli crab sauce, which I admit I I have been craving after since I went to Jumbo's in Singapore earlier this year. (There is a great SBS food video and recipe that's easy to search for, if it's up your alley too) Googling for seafood outlets that are on my way home from work, I found the yelp reviews straight away. Easy for me to get to when swinging home through Marrickville. It's true you wouldn't know it was a seafood shop from the outside, but the fact you can very rarely get a spot in their tiny car park is testament to the fact a lot of people shop here. Park on the opposite side of the street to avoid the frustration of squeezing in. Think of something from the great deep blue that you can munch on and they probably have it here. Oysters, all of the Oysters!. Scallops on or off shell. Cooked yabbies - make yer own crawfish pie! Thinking I might do that next time I go. Fish of all species, Prawns cooked or raw, Octopus, Squid, and the one thing I came for Mud Crab. They have 2 tubs, one for boys and one for girl mudcrabs. I'm not up on the ethics of Mudcrab choosing, so I went for the biggest one. That sucker was alive and kicking. Trussed up of course, but that's the thing about crab.. fresh is best and you have to dispatch that little beggar on your own. She cost me $19. and she was delicious. There is a ticket system to get served, but for some reason I got bumped up the queue. I dont know if there were any tickets left, but the staff were immediately helpful and attentive. Prices seem pretty good, and everything looked fresh as a daisy. I dont even remember there being that fishy fish shop smell. Faros Brothers is totally worth of my half century review. If you're a local, go and see them the next time youre in need of a seafood fix I dont think you'll be disappointed.
