That is why I suggest hiring one...which is exactly what I've done. Hutching Pianos is positioned at the top of Edgecliff Road and you've probably driven past it a hundred times without noting it exists. It's a tiny room which showcases a variety of upright and baby grand pianos. It's a great place to try and test what you like and the person behind the counter knows everything about pianos - so ask away. I hired an upright - wish I could afford a babygrand (one day) - its cost me $40 a month and is a wonderful way for me to get my music fix without the commitment. A few things to note is you must pay for piano delivery there and back - which can be costly - so make sure you include it in your budget. Of course i think its better value to buy a piano instead of rent - but if thats not an option for you - may I suggest you look into getting yourself a monthly piano plan.
