Occasionally it needs a cut and because it is a rare event I cringe at the idea of having to pay hundreds to getting a mere few centimeters snipped off. Thankfully this annual chop my sister had visited a local salon using a Scoopon. On the way out they gave her a $50 gift voucher for next time she visited. Sister promptly gave it to me saying she wouldn't go back. Sister's experience was somewhat different to mine. Sister said the staff and ambiance was cold and uninviting. The colour and cut she got was good she just didn't feel that 'treat' feeling she gets usually from other hairdressers (said sister by the way gets her hair done every 6 weeks). I on the other hand quite enjoyed my experience. I walked off the street to hopefully book an appointment for that day and though they were busy Serena (head hair designer) worked around the schedule to fit me in with little more than a 10 minute wait. Not only that but she let me use the voucher and gave it back to me when I left. She also cut my hair which I was very happy with - I walked in looking like I'd not cut my hair in a year and walked out looking like it had never look rejected. The staff seemed friendly enough to me. There wasn't much chatter like most salons but I like laying back with my eyes closed whist the hair magicians do their wash, cut and blow magic. If you want to let go of the day, without feeling the need to natter Via Spiga is a good hairdressers to visit. The salon uses Jeval Hair Colour, Brocato Hair Car and Nak Hair Care. The good thing about these choices are the paraben free, sulphate free and plant based ingredients. Compared to a lot of salons that use chemical heavy dyes and shampoo at Via Spiga you know you get a hair bath that doesn't just leave your hair feeling soft and beautiful but also natural. The ship it self is quite small, but the ambience is really nice and relaxing. Everything is brand new in terms of chairs and equipment. This is the perfect cosy little nail salon for a girl to treat herself! Customer service was excellent and the ladies made an effort to not speak too much in their own language which I personally found really nice compared to all the other nail salons I've been too.. ;)

It looks like he cut out a chunk of my top not layers and doesn't understand the basics of blending. Stevie the owner refused to give me a refund and was perfectly ok with my walking out of the salon with this haircut that no one would ever wear. He actually got defensive over this poor excuse for a professional style, intimidating me and flat out lying that this cut is balanced and even. The proof is in the disaster of a cut. if you're ok with spending $150 to walk out looking like this, then this is the salon for you. If not, run the other way.

It was a sickening experience. All in all, a total waste of money and an incredibly disappointing experience. If you want genuine people who aren't just in it to clean your wallet and who you can trust with your hair, this isn't the place, despite the inflated price and self-appointed reputation.

Moda Hair salon is seriously over-priced. They offer a range of options including extensions, straightening, highlights and your standard cut/colour/blow dry. Each one will leave a deep dent in your wallet, and a twinge of regret in your mind. Moda's pricing scheme also baffles me. I understand the child/ adult price range you encounter in most places (e.g. adult haircut= $20, child haircut= $10). But Moda's child/ teenager/ adult price differences seem a little weird. This pricing scheme means a cut, colour and blow-dry with cost $85 for teenagers, and $98 for adults. As well as the steep prices, service is slow, and employees often seem totally uninterested in what they're doing. Moda Hair does not offer the superior services their prices suggest. They should either lower their prices, or increase the quality of their services.

Now I use Alex a young hairdresser who makes me look younger with the best youthful hair cut I have ever had in my life. I look like I have an excellent set of hair now even I admire it so much and very happy with my look. This is more expensive at $35, but well worth it for the satisfaction and change of my head appeal. I recommend Alex to any male requiring a fantastic haircut.
