After concluding that the stench that seemed to follow me around was not my raging gonorrhoea, I did some serious digging (only the metaphorical type). The boys over at Northern Beaches Gardencare took a literal dig around my blooms, and found my dear lover rats (rest in peace angels, you will be missed. I hope you're in a cleaner place now), Anastasia and Christian i can only hope your nibbling on a nicer woman's veggie garden. Ryan at Northern Beaches Gardencare really put the care in Gardencare. This lovely man gave me, not only a shoulder to cry on, but a shoulder to nibble on. He pulled out his massive shears, starting with a slight trimming of the garden pine. Taking extra caution to not over-hydrate my sopping gardeniers, he still gave them a healthy dousing of fluid. He rounded out the trip with a full fertilisation to my tender flower, and not nine months later in the spring there were blooms. In simpler terms, I was his ho (Literal and metaphorical). You may have noticed the hesitance in my 5 stars, this was becuase despite the fantastic bush trimming this was not a Northern Beaches Gardencare at all but my neighbour Jeff who was unregoginsiable without glasses (Thanks alot specsavers).

We came here on an early Saturday afternoon for brunch. [ Atmosphere ] There's plenty of tables for large or small parties, and the cafe is both indoor/outdoor. And a nice little playground for the kids in the corner. Oh and there's a beautiful view of the pond (with koi fish) from mostly everywhere you sit in the cafe. There are wooden beams with green ivy hanging from it, and just a variety of trees and plants everywhere. I felt like I was in a movie sitting there, it really felt whimsical. [ Menu ] - Bacon, poached egg, caesar salad. It was a good salad, but nothing too spectacular. Presentation was nice though. - Mango smoothie. This was really tasty, not to sweet, and just a real refreshing drink to have while sitting back and enjoying the natural scenery. - Pesto pasta. This was great, you can't really go wrong with a pesto pasta. - Cappuccino. Just your average [ Service ] This is why I didn't give them 5 stars, mainly because the service was pretty bad. At the time we came we understood they were understaffed, but the staff that were there at the time didn't really have a great attitude about serving us. It's times like that when you can see if someone will choose to put on a smile and serve or just be mad at the world, and boy our server was mad at the world. We felt really rushed when she was taking our order, and she didn't bother smiling at all. Even when she gave us our order, we were afraid to ask for more napkins or utensils because she seemed so disgruntled. I felt bad for her, but at the same time, it's really all about being flexible. Overall I loved this place only because of the beautiful scenery. I wish I could take my mum here, she would've loved it. I think next time we'll just order a cup of coffee/tea and just enjoy the atmosphere.

We had a terrible experience with the Tile Cleaners…read more The planning, quote and booking all went find, but the trouble began when Adam arrived at 11am instead of the appointed time of 9am. When we booked the job with Hunter I was told (and the quote stated) it would take about three hours, so expected to be able to get back to work in the afternoon. Not so! Adam spent much of the five hours in his van out the front, 'waiting for the drill bit to cool' and 'waiting for the grout to dry'. The job was to re-grout a double shower and re-silicone the bathroom bench. He finished after 3:30pm. Next, Adam wanted me to direct deposit the payment into his account, declaring that the bank account details on the invoice were 'in error'. A call to the Tile Cleaners office clarified that the account number on the invoice was not in error and that I should pay according to the invoice. A few days after the job was done, we noticed that the re-grouting on the base of the shower was rubbing off in places and a section around the drain was missing altogether. It wouldn't be a major issue, except that the colour match between the old grout and the new is significant, and it stands out very clearly. We also noticed that the silicone in the base of the shower (not sure why it's there at all given the shower was meant to be fully re-grouted) was coming away from the wall. Finally, the grouting immediately above the bench was stained and had not been drilled out and replaced before the silicone applied. Unhappy with the quality of the workmanship, we contacted the office by email and were advised by Peiter the technician would be sent to re-do the work. We set about making an appointment for the repairs, and settled on a Saturday morning, several weeks out, so I would not have to take time off work. A call from Peter in the office on the Wednesday prior sought to reschedule the appointment to the Friday, but as I was unavailable the office reluctantly agreed to leave it as scheduled. The following day, I received and email declaring that the appointment could not be kept, and offering a $100 voucher for my next job. Curious, as this was to be a repair under warranty. We scheduled again, for a Saturday morning several weeks out. This time, Adam was a no show! No phone call, no text, just no show. I emailed Peiter in the office to let them know that Adam didn't appear, and that we did not want to re-schedule. Have not heard a thing since! Appalling service. So with that in mind, and budget, when we decided to build our new home we were given the choice of two companies by the builder to select our tiles and stone for the bathrooms etc. Lisa at Sareen Stone has not only been extremely patient but a weath of information and has steared us in the right direction with our selections and we could not have been happier. Lisa gave us samples of our selections which made it so much easier to co-ordinate the rest of the rooms...so good. ps: Hillsdale is just near the airport and very easy to find.

We have used Brook Concrete with Col, Troy and Mick on 4 other occasions two were just plain…read moreconcrete and 2 were stamped and coloured, all were well priced with perfect results. This time we had to replace a driveway so decided to make some changes to better fit our changed lifestyle - the old concrete had been here when we bought in 1979. Troy came and measured and we discussed the changes. I wanted a plain coloured slab but strong enough to survive large utes with their extra weight. He provided good advice which I accepted and the quote was in our letterbox the next day and I accepted it. They kept me well informed as I had commitments, as did they. They removed the old driveway in a morning with their BobCat and when they left the place was neat and tidy with the changed layout already dialled in via the screened base. I had to do some stormwater changes under the slab so they gave me a free day to do that. They then came the following day to complete the form work and the pour happened over 2 days because of the complications with the upper portion of the slab. The two pour days were cold, very windy days which made the finishing a lot harder then normal with leaves blowing over the fresh concrete while they were colouring it prior to final finish screed. The final sealing happened ~1 week later to allow the slab to cure before it was sealed to keep out stains and dirt. It was a great job, well executed and painless for us.

6th review and update So where has the time gone? wow I've…read morelost a couple of months. A lot has happened since my last review. The frames went up quickly and then the windows/doors and the brickwork was not far behind, the roof frames and tiles were put up and wow then the site was like a beehive, timber flooring laid, electricians doing wiring, plumbers, air-conditioning , central vac and then the gyprock , kitchen cupboards, fix out (architraves, cupboards skirting boards doors etc) vanities fitted in the bathrooms' and the cupboards in the laundry, then the cornices fitted, next came the tilers to do the stone floors on the verandas, foyer, bathrooms and can I say they did a lovely job..yey..now the plumbers have been laying all the services from the street down our very long driveway to the house. I'm sure I've forgotten something! oh yes in between all the going on selections regarding lighting have taken more time than you could imagine. As the Basix requirements stipulate Led lighting is a must and to comply much research has been done regarding down lighting oh and that can really do your head in so what have we decided to use you say? well remembering the led down lights come in kit form- (no changing of bulbs when they die you must replace the whole unit, but bare in mind you get from 30,000-70,000 hours from each light and they are under warranty from 3-7yrs ) - each varying in price from roughly for quality not cheap units the range in price from say $44-$89 you can get less expensive but you do tend to get what you pay for..you have been warned..it came down to brands called Bright Green and Sunny both from our research perform well..There is a website called ledbenchmarks which review led lighting well worth a visit for those interested. So that decision must be made in the next two weeks...The painters are due to start within a few days which takes just over a week and a half then the lights fitted and then the little things like towel rails, carpet laid , shutters fitted etc plus I am sure numerous other things before the last fitted- the kitchen appliances, which will roughly be six weeks give or take. For our part we have to organise the start of the refurbishing of the pool area, landscaping and eventually the concreting of the driveway..so much to do, so little time! ps:Getting quotes for everything takes up a lot of your time , but it is worth it...

These guys were competent in that they could work on-site unsupervised during the entire job, and the work was excellent. Not only were all 200 piles dead-plumb vertical, they finished inside the scheduled period of works. They were professional in the manner that they dealt with all personnel on-site including the architect, certifier, engineers and other contractors. Finally, they were responsive to the unforeseen challenges that arose during the project, co-developing solutions with the engineer. We have used them several times since, and they have never failed to impress. I have no hesitation in recommending LC Civil for any hand-piling, shoring and underpinning jobs.

They provided an extremely competitive quote with no hidden extra's and the final bill used less than 10% of my contingency. They arrived on time and got stuck right in every day they were on site. Their communication was excellent and when they found an issue or wanted to provide me with information they were on the phone straight away to let me know. When they had finished they left the site clean and tidy. So, if you need piling work done, give these guys a call, i'm sure you wont be disappointed.
