Our child was experiencing difficulty in many school subjects as early as elementary school. These academic struggles created a great deal of stress and anxiety for our child as well as her teachers. She found schoolwork frustrating and did not feel successful. Our child has been with That Tutoring Place since elementary school and is now a successful junior in high school. That Tutoring Place has helped our child in all subjects in countless ways. They have helped her prioritize and organize, develop good study habits, break down difficult assignments in more manageable and understandable ways, assist her with test preparation and provide direction and encouragement. As a result, our daughter has been able to achieve her academic goals and most importantly, feel successful. I know of no other tutoring services that provide this level of service in all subjects with such dedicated staff for a most reasonable price. I highly recommend That Tutoring Place. Your child will benefit enormously from their services."

We had a fantastic experience with Lisa. My oldest was applying to middle schools in Washington…read morethat were very competitive to get into and required our daughter to do the SSAT test. She was underprepared and we only had a few months to get ready. Lisa met with my daughter 10 times over a few months and dramatically improved her scores and confidence. She did this with incredible kindness and empathy for the stress of the process my daughter was going through. I would highly recommend Lisa to any parent whose child is preparing for the SSAT (or SAT for that matter).

My family has had the good fortune to work with Mazor Test Prep on tutoring for the ISEE entrance…read moreexam when my children were in 5th grade and applying to private schools, on the AP exams as they made their journey through high school, and on the SATs as they prepared for college. The proof is in their success-my kids scored in the high 80 and 90 percentiles on their ISEEs, were accepted to their private schools of choice, and earned 5s on AP Physics and Calculus exams. My son is a senior, and with Lisa's guidance, achieved a 1530 on the SAT, missing only one math question-no superscore, just one test. Thus far, he has not been turned down by any of the top-tier engineering programs to which he has applied. My younger child is now working diligently with Lisa to maximize his SAT scores as he prepares for college applications in the fall. What makes this all the more impressive is the fact that both my children have dyslexia and dysgraphia-school has not come easy for them. Whether working directly with Lisa or one of her expert team members, you can expect compassion, professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to meet your child at his or level, emotionally and academically. Lisa and her team are exacting and demanding, but with an understanding that kids' anxiety levels and workloads fluctuate through the school year and need to be taken into consideration and adapted to. Working with Lisa, I felt supported as a parent, and more importantly, I knew that while my children were working hard, they too felt supported. My kids have tried preparing for standardized tests using workbooks and online/in-person group classes, but both report the one-on-one experience they have had with Lisa and her team to be the game-changer. Not only are Lisa and her team effective, they are kind! I have enjoyed all my interactions with them, and the kids do not balk when it is time to get down to work. They also feel motivated to get their work done between sessions, so they are prepared for their next meeting-with no helicoptering from me. This is how test prep should be.

Every tutor was really outstanding at breaking down complex issues in a clear way and taking the emotional issues out of the equation. Even more impressive given that all our sessions were remote. Great, caring tutors. Fantastic results!…read more My daughter ("M") loved the math tutor she had from 8th through 11th grade, but, come 12th grade, M decided to take "Honors Physics with Calculus" and "Honors Statistics" at the same time. She also wanted to bring up her math SAT score. Concerned that keeping up with M's classes would require too much work, her tutor recommended she switch to FusionMath (based here in Seattle). If you visit their website, you will see bios of all their current tutors. However, when I emailed the company to explain the situation, I said it would be great to get some recommendations from within the list. Mark Batho, the owner, emailed me back within 24 hours introducing himself and inviting me to speak on the phone, which we did shortly thereafter. He started out as a tutor himself, and it was clear from the start he was a very smart man and a highly committed educator. Although he said he had multiple tutors that could handle the job, he did recommend two, both of which were PhD candidates at UW in physics. M started with one shortly thereafter. They hit it off fabulously and M got A's in both of her honors math classes. Moreover, she raised her Math SAT score from 670 up to 730. M's tutor was personable, highly capable, and able to schedule evening and weekend hours, so M could do theatre in the afternoon after school. The owner, Mark Batho, is a delightful man and really seemed to care about how well M did. In total, I very strongly recommend FusionMath. (Fwiw, Mr. Batho also owns Uplift Writing - a writing tutoring company!)

Our son engaged with Mimmi for college prep test coaching and assistance with his college essays. Her approach and process were fantastic for our son. He met regularly with her and a small group to prep for the tests, and one on one with her when he worked on his essays. We are very pleased with the results. He did very well on both the ACT and SAT. She was confident he would do better on the ACT, and he did. His test scores provided him lots of options for college. Her assistance with his essays was fantastic. She really helped him figure out what to write about that showed colleges who he was and what he was looking for from college. THE RESULTS: He was accepted into all but a few of his reach schools. He also got into a very competitive, reach program at UW, and we believe Mimmi's coaching played a huge role in that success. Our son was also fortunate to have been offered scholarship opportunities at all colleges except for in state UW. He will be attending the UW. We felt that Mimmi's services were very fairly priced. We received tremendous value and assistance with the college application process, which can be a bit intimidating for first timers. She really cared about our son and helping him do as well he could. She also gave us great advice and challenged our thoughts at times, and we believe Mimmi played a very powerful role in our son's journey to find a college that was right for him. We highly recommend Mimmi Beck and her services if your student is working on his or her college testing and application process.
