I wanted to get my hair done as a little birthday gift to myself, but I was disappointed because many salons were either closed due to the pandemic, or were just completely booked until January. Synergy was the only place that was able to take me in for a hair appointment two days before my birthday! The visit overall was pleasant. I have been looking for a new stylist since mine moved out of state 2 years ago. I have been coloring myself and getting cuts at several places. Last minute cut in October was a nightmare. I was referred to Jen and I felt like a million dollars when I walked out of there. She did a beautiful job with the color AND cut my hair. Could I tell you enough great things about Sabrina? Probably not! She was very easy to get in contact with, I SMS messaged her to get my appt set up . She took me in at 5, when their normal closing hours are @6. I knew she was legit right away when she asked specific questions on what I was going for and what to expect from her work. I went for a Balayage ombré and she did AMAZING! Took her time (4 hours!) and was great conversation the whole way thru. Super sweet and easy to talk to - was able to feel comfortable letting her know what I wanted and she was very clear on what to expect . My hair is freaking GORG!! Since moving back to California, I've been searching for a place that would give me a good cut... somewhere the stylist would listen to what I wanted and take their time. Jen at Synergy did just that. I told her I wanted a drastic cut, going from shoulder length to a pixie and showed her pictures. I told her I was looking for my forever salon. She said she would win me over, and she did. She gave me a nice little scalp/temple massage during my wash, which was amazing. She asked a lot of questions and made sure I was comfortable with what was happening. I'm very happy with my hair cut and am glad I didn't have to wait until I visit Iowa to get it cut again! It's hard as a guy losing his hair to accept that he can still look good in the face of well-coiffed individuals, so I turn to Synergy to get my closely-buzzed head looking its best. I love this place! I have been going to Jen for years and only Jen (so this is a long overdue review). When I lived in LA, I would make the trek down to SD for a haircut. When I lived in OC, I would still make that drive. When I got married- she did my hair along with my bridesmaids. She really understands my fine/thin hair. And I love the fact that after she cuts it, my hair has bounce and style, even if all I do is wash and airdry it. She seriously knows what she is doing! read more

This review is solely based on customer service. I called last week during business hours and no one picked up, so I left a voicemail stating that I wanted to make an appointment. Here it is now nearly a week later and I haven't heard from anyone. I saw that another reviewer had a similar experience and is wondering if they're still in business. Grand Ave is saturated with hair salons (not sure why?) but there are tons of them. having been a long time customer of a very well known hair salon up on Grand Ave, i found Synergy when my hair stylist moved there. and i would follow her anywhere. Gia is the bomb! she's AWESOME! parking is usually easy but might be tougher on busy nights, Synergy is right next door to Tango restuarant and Joe's restaurant. read more

The same thing happened to me that happened to at least two other reviewers (and at least one of those reviews is from like a year ago). I called multiple times during normal business hours, only to have no one ever answer the phone. Finally I left a message with my name and number stating I wished to make an appointment. It's been days and I have not heard back. Is this place out of business or what? Edit: Heard back from the owner that she's just super short staffed right now (as in, it's literally only her at the moment). I think it's a bit lame that it took a bad Yelp review to get that information, but she has at least edited the page to reflect the change, so I guess that's good. In the end I decided to go with a different stylist, who I guess used to work here but now works somewhere else? I'm a bit unclear on that front, but I saw some of the same pictures of hair on here posted on other Salon's pages too. Since the owner claimed to be the only one at the salon I thought it was a bit strange that there's still a full staff photo and pictures of hair by other stylist on the Yelp page. I changed my review from 1 star to 2, hoping to be more neutral since I didn't actually end up going to this Salon. But I do still want it to reflect my overall less than positive experience (I wish I could just leave a comment without having to give a star rating, but Yelp wont let me do that, so there we are). Best of luck to the owner here, she seems to have a lot on her plate, but a lot of things about this Salon just felt too "off" for me. read more

I got the brazilian blowout by Lisa this past weekend and I love it!! Anyone who wants healthy, shiny beautiful hair should definitely try this. It was my first time so I wasnt sure if I was going to like it. My hair is wavy, but I think due to color damage and over ironing with the flat iron and curling iron. I washed my hair the next day and VOILA, I didnt have to do it at all and it was beautifully dried. No blow dryer, no irons and I was able to go about my day. You can still iron it and style it as you like, but it takes away 3/4 of the time you take to normally do it. I have a 10mon old so even more the reason why its perfect for me. Lisa was very easy to talk to and the salon is beautiful, its just in the middle of nowhere which is fine with me =) read more

I've been coming here for a few years thanks to my stylist Ashley Lecroy. I followed her here from her previous salon where I had been going to her since 2008 or 2009. I had a traumatic experience when I was younger and my hair was cut terribly and short so it was such a relief to find a stylist who listens to everything I ask and does exactly what I want. Even when it was a 1/4 inch trim. I've even got my mom going to her too! She is amazing! It doesn't hurt that she is super friendly too. My next trip is to chop it all off and she's the only one I'd trust to do so! read more

My review reflects the stylist Ashley. She is an asset to Synergy with her skill and personable applicability. Went to her as a typical non-frequent in the salon world. Hair cuts to me are a drag, but in the several months that I have kept coming back (because I love it!!), she has not only made me feel beautiful, but my hair is down right amazing and healthy. This place is GREAT & Diana is amazing!! I had Diana & Jen do my hair and make-up for my wedding. I had 4 bridemaids, myself, my mom & a flower girl, and they both made them look AMAZING & we were all on time too! Diana is extremly skilled at all kinds of hair since one of my bridesmaids had super thick hair, while the other had increadibly thin hair. I had wanted extensions put in for the wedding, so Diana had scheduled an appointment for me before the wedding to not only fuse the extentions in (about 30 of them), but do a trial run on my hair stlye. The extentions were fantastic & blended perfectly with my hair giving it so much length & volume. She did such a great job that the extensions lasted over 3 months!! I highly recommend her for not only being a stylist, but an artist & a true professional. read more

I was in such a panic. The ends of my hair died. I always had soft, bouncy, great hair! (Well, not that great) but my hair never felt so sad and angry. I called this salon and was hoping to get in asap. Ingrid took my call and got me in the next day. I have always freaked out because stylists seem to always say, "I'll trim and inch" and your hair ends up looking like TinkerBell. She was amazing. She trimmed my hair not too short that I lost all my hair, she layered it so my hair still had a 'full' look to it. She literally saved my hair. I'm so happy with her work, I will continue to go back to her. She was incredible and I definitely recommend her. Ashley has been cutting my hair for quite a while and she has manage to meet all my expectations and beyond. I prefer longer hair but I often had to compromise due to the fact that I had unmanageable frizzy hair. Ashley recently changed my entire outlook. Going in to the salon I was very nervous seeing how I had never dyed my hair before. I hardly bet had any type of hair style before! Just natural color and some layers. When I made my appointment with Sabrina I was so unsure if I was going to go threw with making a change but as soon as I got there and sat in her chair she was confident that what she was going to do would be super natural, fresh and easy to maintain. It was a year since I had my hair cut and re-dyed so I was a little scared to have someone touch my hair. I originally had a beautiful ombré but it was well past it's time to get redone but I didn't know what I actually wanted to do. It was Ingrid who ended up doing my hair and I'm happy she did. We spoke at length prior to doing anything and she was extremely personable and determined to get me exactly what I wanted she was amazing. To be honest after I first saw my hair I had mixed feelings and I was terrified we had done too much blond, but she warned me it was a bit "angry" from the bleaching process. That after a day its real colors would really show. She was right on point and I absolutely love my hair now. I think maybe it was the shampoo and conditioner products on my hair afterwards, but after I washed it and straightened it this morning it looks absolutely perfect and I love it.
