Ich muss zugeben, es war ein 6er Tisch, aber es war auch noch genug anderer Platz da. So steht ein schlecht gelaunter Koch oder Kellner (es war nicht so genau zu erkennen) in der Tür des Restaurants und fordert uns in einer unangebrachten Lautstärke und auch Wortwahl auf, uns nicht an einen so großen Tisch zu setzen. Selbstverständlich sorgte seine Ansprache dafür, dass wir von allen Gästen angeglotzt wurden, was irgendwie nicht angebracht ist. Warum wir nicht gegangen sind? Der Hunger war es und auch das gute Essen. Übrigens setzte sich eine dreier Gruppe an den 6er. Wir setzten uns an einen anderen Tisch, wurden von einer freundlichen Kellnerin bedient, mussten dann aber doch 40 Minuten auf Pasta warten. Wir hatten unterschiedliche Pastasorten bestellt, aber dann doch beide die gleiche bekommen. Nachdem wir so lange auf das Essen gewartet hatten (in der Zeit hätte ich es auch selber zu Hause kochen können), verzichteten wir auf eine Richtigstellung. Zusammenfassend: das Essen ist gut und preiswert, aber mit viel Zeit im Gepäck und der Chance auf unfreundliche Behandlung kann man im St. Angelo essen. Schade.

The best aspects of this bar is the decor, a lot of locals so you feel immersed in small town Germany culture. The local beer gaffel kolsch is pretty much the go to beer and is delightfully fresh light and the right amount of malt/hops ratio. This is a special brew local to cologne so try it out. Unfortunately I can't add stars because this place didn't produce the brew. So food.... I'm just going to say it is subpar to standard pub fare and would not come back unless I was a drunk mess. Perhaps one of the best wine lists I have seen in Germany with an amazing selection of German wines, top class. It's a restaurant located in a 19th century villa and it's beautiful inside and out. There is a private area upstairs for an event or a private party. Very classic but comfortable and cozy interiors with a modern touch. We had a set menu that the chef had prepared for us and the wines were also Pre selected by the chef. Ask them for wine recommendations and it was spot on. The food was great. It looked good and tasted fabulous. The fish was cooked to perfection and you could taste the vegetables. The fish with morels was my favourite dish of the evening as was the dessert. The wines we had was excellent and the dessert wine recommendation from the chef went perfectly with the fruity dessert. I would come back here again any day. It's a fabulous restaurant that serves great food and offers very friendly service. A true gem in Bonn.

As a token of our appreciation, we had offered to take her to this restaurant. We had decided to come here because it came up in the Michelin guide for Bonn/Cologne and the reviews seemed to be glowing. I also had opted for it because it offered a separate vegetarian tasting for those of us that refrain from eating meat. I had made the reservation via email about 2 weeks prior to our arrival, and once we arrived at the restaurant (which is not clearly marked, I might add. With the name containing "gasthaus" in it, you would think that it was just a fancy inn from the outside), we were met by the warm service staff and even the executive chef himself. Once seated in their beautifully decorated dining room, we began our 4 hour long meal. Yes, it was 4 hours long, with about 8 different courses (I am counting the various treats we got from the kitchen as well. They weren't small enough to be considered amuse bouches, but they were slightly smaller than our actual courses). Because I had the vegetarian tasting menu, my dishes were quite different than my companions. I really appreciated how each dish was carefully crafted and also how my meal was just entirely different than my companions', and not just a meat-free reduction of the same dish. Both dessert courses were phenomenal and I was very fond of their gnocchi dish as well as their ravioli dish. The detail given to us by the staff was amazing, as you would expect from such a nice restaurant. Even the bathrooms were lovely, as they had a whole tray of various toiletries and cosmetics you could use to freshen up. I suppose it would just go with the whole atmosphere of the restaurant, being in an older federalist style house and all. If you have the means to do so, consider having dinner at this establishment. Our dining party had a lovely time here and while it was kind of a once-in-a-lifetime kind of meal, I'd certainly like to dine here again, if given the chance.
