Amazing, compassionate care! I have never had a PCP so caring and professional as Dr Shallin.

Hello Yelp Subscribers; It took a few years, but I…read morefinally made it to Georgetown, TX in 2006. I arrived with some "underlying" medical conditions. So I contacted a well-known clinic in Round Rock. Mainly because this clinic had a large number of physicians available. Practicing general and specific areas of medicine. A turning point away from this clinic came in 2012 when I became extremely ill while on vacation in Hawaii. So sick, that I had to make an emergency room visit, via ambulance, to a local hospital near Kona. The emergency room physician made an initial diagnosis (Pneumonia & Costocondritus) and recommended I return home to follow up with my "General Practice" physician in Round Rock. While en-route home, about a nine hour trip, my wife made an appointment with my "personal" physician in Round Rock. Supplying him with the "initial" diagnosis from the emergency room physician in Hawaii and a contact number should he want "clinical notes.". Upon arrival at the clinic he took one look at me, no examination , and asked "why I was there and not in the hospital." Hardly an empathetic response from a physician I had been seeing by for over 6 years. So enter Dr. Joseph Hermosa, a "general practice physician" with expertise in internal medicine. Dr. Hermosa has treated me since 2006. Tracking issues involving nephritis, hypertension, hyperglycemia and reviewing blood chemistry on a regular basis. All of this, and performing physical examinations on a quarterly basis. Of possible interest to geriatrics like myself, is the fact that he makes "house" calls. Which means you do not have to travel to an office potentially sharing a waiting room with sick or contagious patients. Dr Joseph Hermosa, is a kind, empathetic, and accessible physician. I cannot over-emphasize these qualities. Between scheduled appointments, I have contacted Dr. Joseph Hermosa via email , to get his input on various issues that are important to me. Such as the scorpion sting that refuses to heal. In addition, during June of 2018 I was hospitalized for hip surgery; a "Revision." Dr. Hermosa showed up at my bedside even though he was not involved in the surgery. I was so surprised all I could say was ; "How did you know I was here?" With a smile he responded, "I have my contacts." I'm not certain if Dr Hermosa is accepting new patients. But if you are interested In a knowledgeable and empathetic physician please contact Monica Tobar @ (512)630-1969.

I visited dr 3 times, with the same set of questions each time. None was answered on ANY of my…read morevisits. Very poor patient relations. She discarded my 90-day CGM printouts because 6 of the 90 days were on an insulin pump; the remaining 84 were on Tresiba. She said the results were invalid because of the 6 days on the insulin pump. She also didn't know that my diabetes drug, came in a 100-U dosing pen. She argued with me over this. Also got sick because she changed my GERD meds without contacting GI doc. I've had Type I DM for 35 years, with no microvascular or other complications. I feel that I'm obviously doing something right. This doc only found ways to put me down and feel stupid, rather than lift me up for any level of good care I've taken for myself. On my last visit she got up and walked out because she said I was taking too much of her time. Yet, she still didn't answer my questions. If you want a doctor that keeps her head in the computer for an incredibly long time to look up incorrect things from your last visit (which I've tried to correct on both of my follow-up visits), avoids looking directly at you, and avoids your questions with lackluster comments , this is the doc for you. If you want a professional that really cares, go somewhere else.

Wow, if you value your life and need diabetes monitoring, run and run fast…read morethe office is very disorganize. I have called now at least three time with no return call. secondly, I went in and they gave me the wrong supplies third they put me on victosa . they told me it last for 30 days at 1.2,the math says 15 days and not 30. I am leaving town in two days with not enough med to cover my vacation. I am waiting on approval from insurance to buy it. if you can, find another office that know how to listen and take care of you. your life is to precious for you to give them opportunity to screw it up.

Went in for an early AM heart procedure and other than waiting 15min at the front desk for someone…read moreto come on duty, I found St David's Georgetown location to be easy to find (my Uber driver dropped me at the correct entrance) , clean, quiet and modern. The campus is smaller than other hospitals I've been to, which helped me arrive on time, and avoid getting confused about which building my appointment was in. With multiple heart doctors on my team, I can mix up who's doing what when and where. This hospital was manageable. I was in a shared room, (my first) but I had the window side, with a curtain drawn between the two bed areas creating adequate privacy. The single TV on the wall seemed to be more on my side, but there wasn't time to even turn it on. The very attentive nursing staff were busy asking me all the standard questions, double checking my medication list and fasting requirements, what I was there for, etc... all very professional, pleasant and efficient. When they had me ready for the cardiologist, I was wheeled into the surgical area and a new group of faces introduced themselves, went over a few more questions, and then the anesthesiologist said hello and I next thing I said was goodnight! Afterwards, back in my room, I was able to order lunch and had the salmon with veggies and chocolate pudding. The entree was so good! The BF (and my ride home) had arrived just in time to feed it to me as my right arm was in a contraption from the procedure. Discharge came with lots of aftercare notes, phone surveys and a handwritten thank you note signed by all the nurses. Nice touch!
