Each summer, heat…read moregot trapped in the roof and attic, making the upper floors impossible to cool down even with two constantly running whole house a/c units. I called several insulation companies last winter and Koala was by far the most responsive. Koala added a significant amount of new insulation to the attic floor (stopping the conditioned air from being pulled into it), a very strong solar powered attic roof vent with a thermostat, and also insulated our attic access panel. We were able to tell the difference this year as soon as the outdoor temp started to rise. Today it's 90 degrees outside and the 2nd floor - where we sleep - is at least 5 degrees cooler than it was last summer with the same outdoor temperature. The Koala sales rep was informative without being pushy or trying to oversell, the installers showed up on time and were both hard working and friendly, and the price was very fair. We even qualify for a federal tax credit! Although I haven't yet received a summer electric bill, I think we'll recover the cost fairly quickly. Even without any utility savings, it was well worth the price. Highly recommend!

They were one of 3 contractors I collected bids from. Shortly after that, I received an email response with a coupon for $50 off, and a phone number which I called to set up an appointment for the estimate inspection. Four days later, the owner of the company, Ed Clement, came out and went into my attic. Ed gave me a price to bring my attic up to the "Industry Standard" which is R-49. I asked him to email the estimate, which he did, and it was very reasonable. We set a date for him to do the work on April 25th. Ed knows what he's doing, and completed insulating our 1218 square foot house attic in under an hour. He added 16 inches of insulation. He took several pictures, which he texted me while he was still at our home. Besides, sweeping the little insulation scraps on my garage floor and on the driveway, he removed two pieces of wood that I had left in the attic a few years earlier while I installed a fan in our kitchen. Ed was easy to work with, answered all of my questions, and gave us a good price. I highly recommend AddictInsulation for your insulating needs. He did well to follow-up, was patient, and absolutely respectful and reasonable through it all. He even came back a second visit to address any additional concerns. His crew did well to clean everything up after the work was all done. I was skeptical because he didn't go very deep inside the attic when he first visited, but he saw enough to know what needed to be done; definitely comes from experience. His recommendations were so different from the other bidders, that I needed to do research and ask other experts in the field to confirm his recommendations. His recommendations were on point with the science of attic ventilation. The other bidders usually saw 1 of the 3 things he observed. Don't waste your time looking for other bids, Foam Engineers all the way.

My buildings hold their temperature extremely well whether winter or summer. I do not have to run the hvac equipment as often and the amount of dust in the air is a fraction of what it was (foam seals off air movement). We went with an unvented attack assembly in both buildings which allowed me to claim the attics as storage areas. Not only is the foam great, but ricks crew is 100% professional, clean, and fast. I highly recommend spray foam as a solution and foam engineers as a company.

During the hottest temps so far this year (multiple days of heat index of 100 degrees), I noticed…read moremy AC was running but my indoor temperature was not dropping. Called Energy Stars to come take a look at it (we had purchased the unit from them 5 years earlier), and they said 'because of the high temperatures and multiple people calling in with problems, it would take a couple of days before a technician could show up. Two days later, Eric from Energy Stars arrived to check out my outside AC condenser. As soon as he started to diagnose the problem outside, a rainstorm moved in and it rained the entire time he was outside working on my problem. He explained the issue was a faulty 'high pressure switch' in the condenser. Since he didn't have one in the truck, he 'temporarily fixed' the issue until they could order the switch and get someone back out to swap it out. Long story short, the temp in my house has gone from high 80's back down to mid 70's. Energy Stars called back later that afternoon to confirm they had ordered the switch and set up an appointment to return to install it. The part was covered under warranty (a 10-year warranty), though we will have to pay labor charges. Thanks to Eric who was knowledgeable, polite, and quick to fix the issue.
