An older man..I did not get his name... Stocky balding guy.. Left his stock cart in the middle of an aisle and I did not see it. I accidentally bumped my cart into out and he started reading me the riot act. I said his cart was blocking the aisle and I didn't see it. He kept going on and on .. How abort not leaving it where it would be a hazard, for starters? Also, how about if you leave your attitude at home, and be civil to the customers who shop here... The cashier was pretty rude too. I guess to have low prices you need to treat your customers like garbage.

It really wasn't an attractive looking place to shop! They recently closed and spent a few weeks on renovating and have reopened as a Fresh Co. The selections are so much better here now. There are a lot more ethnic items available, which is suitable to the area. So far, the produce and meat seem to be very fresh and the prices seem to have stayed low. The new staff seem enthusiastic and friendly, even if they are still getting used to the job. Overall the whole store is much more attractive!

The Long Version: This location on Merivale Rd is Kowloon Market's third location and opened in February 2026. The original location is in Chinatown on Somerset and the second location is in Kanata (on Kanata Ave). This location is the smallest of the three. Nonetheless, the selection was still good. And prices are the same as the other Kowloon locations. They had a good variety of Asian snacks and imported drinks. They had produce and raw meats too. They sell frozen banana leaves. I also saw frozen durian. The store was well lit and clean looking. My visit was during their soft opening so their shelves weren't fully stocked. Nonetheless, I was able to pick up a few items. I got some rice paper imported from Vietnam, some konjac jelly from Japan and some grape tomatoes grown in Mexico. Staff were pleasant. T&T stands for Tina & Tiffany, after the founder's 2 daughters. T&T are also the initials of 2 early investors as well. You can find this market in the same plaza as Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters with plenty of parking. I love shopping at T&T Supermarket with such a vast selection of fresh produce, seafood/ meat, dried and fresh noodles, bakery goods, teas, premade foods/ meals, etc (there is also a hot food bar you can pick from and serve yourself and pay by the weight). My husband and I stopped by this particular location this afternoon. It was pretty busy, but that was expected on a Saturday. We got our cart (requires $1 to use but you will get it back after you return it) and then went inside to shop. Coming from Montreal and shopping there earlier this week, I was surprised to find that some of the same items at this location actually cost a little more. For example, I was looking for this special Hong Kong Milk Tea bag that saw that it cost $1 more for the box than at the location in Montreal. I like that this market is clean and does not have that familiar smell that some Asian markets may have. Aisles are wide enough to navigate your cart through and each aisle is labeled accordingly to help shoppers find where they may want to shop in. During this shopping visit, my husband and I ended up purchasing a live lobster. He really wanted to get some seafood during our trip and also that the vacation rental we are staying in has a good size steamer in the kitchen and figured it would be good to cook it while we are here. For lobster and crabs, you pick the one you want and place it in one of the plastic baskets, then you can bring it up to the employee behind the seafood counter and they will weight it for you, bag it and place a price sticker on it for you. I like that there is a self check out area, as the line for that went by so much faster than the other lines. Overall, a positive experience and would frequent this location if I lived here.

No. It's an outdoor plaza presumably designed by those people who make those "can the mouse reach the cheese" games where there's a mouse on the left side, a bunch of squiggly lines in the middle, and a piece of cheese on the right side. You know what I'm talking about! There are parts of the parking lot where unexpectedly you hit a dead end. So if you entered this dead end looking for a parking spot and there are no empty spots you have to back out. Now it's relatively narrow, so IF none of the cars on either side are parked jutting out of their spots too much, AND you have a really tiny car, you MIGHT be able to 3-point turn your way out. Otherwise, you're backing out, and if 2 other cars followed you into this dead end, well guess what? You're going to have to communicate that you're not a bozo for backing up, but you have to back up because it's a dead end and there are no parking spots, and then you're all going to have to back out. I hardly ever go to any of the stores here because they don't really have anything special. They are all stores that are pretty much everywhere: Walmart, Chapters, LCBO, etc. The restaurants are mostly big chains like Boston Pizza, Montana's, Moxie's etc.. If you live in Kanata, I guess this is your local mall and so you go here. If you don't live in Kanata, I don't think there is a reason to make a special trip out here. If you happen to be in Kanata anyway (like visiting relatives, going to a work meeting, etc.) then I feel the only things worth checking out are restaurants here that don't have a branch anywhere else (e.g. Tomaso's Pizza, RARE Steak House, Aperitivo, etc.).

This Loblaws is a lot swankier than other Loblaws in Ottawa. They have a fancy patisserie area…read morewhere you can see staff making pastries and decorating cakes. Their selection of baked goods is greater than other Loblaws. They also have a Starbucks inside. Their prepared foods area is also a lot nicer looking than other locations. This Loblaws is huge. There's a big Joe Fresh clothing section. They have a good cheese section. Their floral section is also good, like they have lots of flowers, not just some wilted carnations like at some smaller locations. This location reminds me a lot of the present-day Loblaws on St. Clair Avenue West at Bathurst Street in Toronto. I say present-day because most of my memories of that Loblaws are from when I was a kid and they definitely did renovations since then, because it wasn't much to look at back then, but is super nice now, lol. There is a special place in my heart for the above Toronto Loblaws, so that may contribute to why I really like this Loblaws in Barrhaven. I'm rarely in Barrhaven, but the times that I've been to this Loblaws I've scored some great sales. They have lots of marked down items (50% off) either because they are short-dated or they are discontinued or they didn't sell well. Fortunately for me, I have weird tastes, lol, so I tend to like things that don't sell well, like that wacky chip flavour no one liked, bring it on! That crazy ice cream flavour? Yum yum! And short dated? No problem! I don't like to delay gratification when it comes to food, I mean sometimes packages barely make it to my car before they are opened and my mouth is full, haha. I was greeted by the sweetest employees - this business clearly really cares about customer service. Although it's a tiny store (cozy is a good word!) They have really great produce (way better than larger stores) and a decent selection. They stock bread from the Rideau Bakery and have a freezer of prepared meals (and gluten free products!). They also have a great selection of organic products (and produce!), A great spot! If this was in my neighbourhood I would be there all the time.

The first of the four was their discounting a product only to be charged full price at the cash. The next visit the clerk was rude over my ringing the bell for service. Then on Thursday i ask about buying the container of 4 salads and the manager tells me the price is $8.99 a pound so buying more will not save me any money. So i buy two salads. On Friday i go back to buy another salad only to be informed that the price is not $8.99 a pound but the smallest container is $6.20. When i explain what i was told the previous day, they treat me like i don't know what i am talking about. I will now shop at a store that has more consistent pricing policies.

The vibe was cute too there's like a fire pit in the middle (even though it was sunny lol), music playing, and I swear I smelled mini donuts at one point with some bangers playing lol Also random tip but if you're signed up with Lindt you can get free chocolate bag for your birthday (and like up to 30 days after).
