Roast pork bbq pork and mostly veg and light rice
    Drew K.

This place is the shit. For an Asian food freak like myself, someone who has travelled many dozens of times to Asia, and is obsessed with food and culture, this is where you need to get your basics and not so basics. I think this is one of the only places in Ottawa to get the authentic crispy skin roast pork that I love so much. Unfortunately it's hit or miss here. Dirty old lady covered in filth behind the counter serves it up - gruff and rough - chopping and putting it into a container. The bbq is perfection though. The times when the roast pork is a hit (and the skin is crunchy and edible rather than rock hard or chewy and inedible) just seems to be based on luck. Nevertheless I keep returning.

What can I say about T&T that hasn't already been said? It's pretty much an Asian Loblaws. Well, it was bought over by Loblaws, so that's a pretty apt description. It is the biggest and cleanest Asian supermarket in Ottawa. The staff are also friendlier than at other Asian supermarkets. They have a lot of prepared foods and an area to sit down and eat if you want to eat there. Their prepared sushi is probably the best of all the grocery store sushi (much better than actual Loblaws and other places like Farmboy). The prices are also lower. Their sushi also does not contain sesame seeds (yippee for me, who can't eat sesame seeds). They have "Chinese takeout" food like General Tao chicken, beef and broccoli and dishes of that ilk. I love their 2 items and steamed rice combo for $7.99 (plus you get a free soup). They have good dim sum items as well. Plus they have noodle soups. If you go at the end of the day, they mark down their prepared foods. They start with 30% off and can go as low as 50% off. I love their bakery section. They have good Portuguese Egg Tarts for $1.19 each. Obviously not as good as at a real Portuguese bakery, but not too shabby. They also have the Chinese style egg tarts for those who prefer that taste. They have a lot of Chinese style buns and some pastries with really creative flavour combinations (like pandan-coconut, or chocolate-lemon-almond). They used to carry utane bread, but I haven't seen any there for years :( They make really cute cakes there like ones that are shaped like an owl, or a duck. Their prepared foods and bakery sections are the main reasons that I go there. However, they are a grocery store, so they have produce, frozen foods, dry goods, canned goods, and fresh meats. Their seafood section is a little bit less clean than the rest of the store and there is a fishy smell around there. You can pick your own lobsters there - like literally grab them from the tank and inspect them for yourself. I've seen geoduck there! (Yeah, I know, geoduck are obscene looking). Their dry goods and canned goods are from all over Asia. If you're looking for ingredients to make Halo-Halo, they have them - imported from the Philippines! I've seen items there from Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, China, and the Philippines. They also have some random non-Asian items that are not widely available in Ottawa like Chimes Ginger Chews, and Grand Papa's Hot Cheese Balls (sounds rude, I know, but they are delicious, haha). T&T sometimes imports limited edition items from Asia like Japanese Cheesecake flavoured Kit Kat and Green Tea flavoured Kit Kat. They have so many exotic flavoured ice cream there. They also sell mochi ice cream! Since they were bought over by Loblaws, they do sell a lot of President's Choice items and there are a lot more "Western" items in the store now (by that I mean stuff that you can find at any grocery store in Ottawa). For those who are familiar with T&Ts in the GTA, prices at the T&T in Ottawa are higher. On average about $0.50 more for every item. Inside the T&T along the front (near the cash registers) they have other businesses. There is a store that sells "kawaii" stuff like Hello Kitty, Keroppi, stuffed toys shaped like food, etc. There's also a store that sells Asian cosmetics. There's an Optical and a Wind Mobile. There used to be a food stand that sold Bubble Tea and Taiwanese snacks, but that closed a while ago. The space is still vacant. The washrooms are next to this vacant spot. The parking lot is huge, but always seems to be packed. It's really hard to find a parking spot near the entrance. I usually park really far away and walk.

Came here this past Saturday looking for a particular item and it was PACKED! It was so packed that you literally had to strategically maneuver around the store; especially the prepared items. This store is huge, and its easy to get lost in. I found so many awesome items that I could not find elsewhere; sauces, spices, soups and candies! They have a huge selection of fresh noodles and wraps as well as an awesome produce sections with unique finds. I cannot wait to go back!

Since my last review T&T has improved their product offering. Their array of salty high sodium dried instant noodles is amazing. Yes we Asian people know they are bad high blood pressure inducing for the health but they are so delicious! The prepared to go Chinese foods are always tasty. The sushi although not 5* quality is extremely good value for the money. The seafood section still smells very fishy but that's the joy of a good Asian supermarket! My fave place to load up on my Asian goods when in O-town!

I'm glad to have a T&T in Ottawa but everything is more expensive than at the T&T's in Toronto :( I used to love their prepared foods. You could get a 2 items and rice or noodles and soup combo for $7.99. But now they got rid of their combos and have a pay by weight hot bar instead. It's now much more expensive. I got a much smaller serving and it cost me more. The food is basically the same, just more expensive now. They have lots of Asian stuff that you can't get at regular grocery stores and their bakery is cool, but it's too far for me to go often.

My favorite grocery store in Ottawa. My favorite things here are the home made dumplings and the won ton soup. You can find about everything here even though it's highly focused on Chinese products.

Good Chinese Grocery Store. They have everything, sushi, Dim Sum, hot food, bakery, seafood section with live fish, fresh fish and frozen. Meat section with fresh and frozen and you can request meat or fish to be cut for you, for example ribs which is very useful. The staff will cut them into short ribs on their band saw. Produce section with fruits a vegetables. Some western style dairy as well but usually more expensive then western grocers. Lots of different products in the aisles, sauces seasonings, snacks ect. There really is a lot of variety as this store is pretty big. I heard people drive from Montreal to this store. The good part is not everything is made in China, there are many products from Canada, USA, Mexico, especially produce. Lots of stuff as well from Taiwan, Japan and other south Asian countries. I like that you can get locally made frozen dumplings or other things from quality producers in Toronto. This is good for people who want to avoid buying food products from China. The store is clean and well kept. They have a simple but attractive seating area for eating in the store if you do that. I find this location more expensive then when I was living in Edmonton. We use to shop weekly at the T&T in West Edmonton Mall. Price is my biggest complaint here and the location is out of the way for us, so we go here for things once in a while that we can't get closer to our neighborhood. Other then that, its a good store.

What an entertaining supermarket - brought my girls here for the 1st time the other day, i must say they didn't like the entire cooked duck, beak and all.....lol....they did like the entire cooked PIG.....including the face! The seafood section is similiar to a pet store, bass, trout, eel, lobster, shellfish.....all kinds of goodies.....and lots of hard to get meats in from the butcher area The fresh veggies featuring all kinds of items that i wouldn't even know how they taste......in fact an entertaining blog would be for a white person to cook one dish each week, featuring an unusual fruit or veggie from T&T the last stop is for Pocky....my 6 year olds love it! enjoy. 5 of 30

    Variety sushi pack, about $9.

I have been a fan of T&T for years, like the parent company as well. I get the COVID health restrictions and am fine with their policies to require a mask; bring your own or pay $1 for theirs. This grocery store is cranking out some of the best authentic Asian food takeout at reasonable prices. From their peaking duck, to their smoked pork, the dishes are incredible. You can get prepared food to takeout (normally they have seating) or preassembled ingredients to cook at home. For Father's Day, my wife got me sushi, egg rolls and pot stickers. Sushi was incredible and the reason for this post. If it was this fresh every time I got it here, this would be a 5 star review. That's the only problem with T&T, it's not consistently great. The pot stickers and spring rolls were terrible out of the heated package. They were marginally edible after reheating and not recommended. Finally, the store Is very polarizing, some people with not like the smell and intense flavours of authentic Chinese. Busy is better, try them on a weekend and bring your mask!

I have a sweet tooth so I kind of purchased way too much at the bakery...

The produce is right at the entrance where we picked up a coconut and kumquat (which is a citrus but completely edible, peel and all). It was so much fun browsing the snacks and chips. They have so many frozen food items like dumplings, korean dogs (filled with cheese), and ice creams. I was most excited to check out the bakery but there was not much of a selection. Fellow yelper, the amazing, Jennifer.P sums up the bakery section very well. The prepared food section was slim the night we went, and it looked like they were out of a lot of items. The refrigerated section was also sparse and maybe they did not have time to stock it up after the weekend (we went on a Monday evening around 7pm). I loved that they had plenty of vegetarian items like veggie jerky found in the chips aisle, and puffed tofu in the refrigerated aisle. While T&T blows it out of the water in terms of prepared items and their bakery, Green Fresh has some amazing shelf stable hard to find items.

You can order ahead or pick from the prepared food on the right of the cashier. I only wish the sweet and spicy sauce was spicier (it was very very mild to us) but they recently added a new soy & chili flavour that can scale up on the spice. It wasn't greasy and probably one of the better places for KFC by Ottawa standards. TIP: if you're getting take out and worried about the sauce making the chicken soft while you drive home, you can ask for the sauce on the side! They have plenty of Korean ingredients, snacks, noodles and a killer homemade kimchi that I believe is freshest on Fridays. There isn't much fresh produce but they do have lots of meats. The Long Version: This small grocery store in Orleans markets itself as a Pakistani, Indian and Mediterranean market. It just opened up in August 2025 where Istanbul Food Mart used to be on Des Epinettes. I didn't even know the Istanbul Food Mart closed, but my brother who lives in the area told me about it. And when I drove by I saw a sign with a picture of samosas and knew I had to check it out, lol. My mom loves samosas, so when I came to visit her (she also lives near the store) I asked her if she wanted to check out the store together, and of course she was game. They did indeed have samosas. The big regular type and the smaller ones made with phyllo pastry. The big ones were vegetarian and $1.50 each. The smaller ones were chicken and $0.75 each. We got a big one and 3 small ones. They also had Indian sweets such as Barfi, Ladoo, Jelebi, Gulab Jamun and Rasgulla, sold by the weight. I don't know all the names but we ended up getting 4 different types to try. You can see my photo. The store has lots of spices, sauces and mixes. As well as imported drinks and snacks (my favourite, lol). The store is neatly organized. There's also an area at the front with tables and chairs where you can sit to enjoy some food or drink. We had the chance to speak with Ali himself and he was very friendly and welcoming. He told us his plans to expand their menu. They will be selling shawarma. He's also thinking of items like samosa chaat. And maybe some fusion poutine like curry poutine, and likely regular poutine too, lol. I think if they expanded their menu, their eat-in area would be a great place to have a snack or meal. It's by the front, which is all windows, so feels like you're in a solarium. The space is very lovely, and surprisingly so since it's inside a grocery store, lol. I liked how Ali was very genuine. When my mom asked if they will be selling big meat samosas, he said she's the third person to ask him that, so they will likely do so in the future. When I asked him if they will be selling baked samosas, he said I'm the only person who's ever asked that and he thinks baked samosas will likely not sell. Lol. I appreciate honesty! And I get it, you need to sell what people will buy ;) (As an aside, my mom said to me, "Jennifer, people want to eat deep-fried delicious things, not baked healthy alternatives like you do!") Fair! Haha. Ali also told us when his sign at the corner advertising samosas was handwritten no one came in looking for samosas but after he got a sign with a picture of samosas on it people started coming in asking for samosas, lol. The samosas were delicious. The big vegetarian one was filled with potatoes, peas and spices. It was spicy! Spicier than most samosas I've had and I loved it. The flavour was also unique. It was more complex and interesting than other samosas I've had. The small samosas were also good, but pale in comparison to the big one in flavour. My parents enjoyed the Indian sweets. They were too sweet for my tastes, but I already knew this because most desserts are too sweet for my liking, lol. The one with a carrot halwa base was the least sweet and the most enjoyable to me. Anyway, I'm really excited to see how this store evolves. I'll be stopping by again with my mom to try their new items. It's in a little plaza so there's free parking in the shared parking lot with other businesses in the plaza. Review #157 (2025)

I made a mental note to return sometime to check it out. When I got home I did some internet searching and discovered that they opened around December 2020, so they are relatively new. As the name suggests, it's an Indian Supermarket. It's not that large, but bigger than a convenience store. They sell some frozen foods, refrigerated foods, shelf-stable foods, and some prepared snacks and desserts (no prepared meals). No fresh produce nor fresh meats. Almost all of their items are imported from India. I picked up a Butter Chicken mix ($1.49) and an instant Kheer package ($2.79). As well as some prepared snacks: 2 vegetarian samosas ($0.79 each), a Manchurian puff ($2.29) and a pizza puff ($2.29). I loved that they had Falooda in bottles. Unfortunately they contained ingredients that I can't have, so I had to pass on them :( Their selection of spices and mixes was great. As was their selection of different types of flours, grains and pulses. However, I was disappointed with their selection of teas, cookies, and candies. The samosas and puffs were ok, but nothing special in my opinion. The samosas were particularly oily/greasy. The filling was mostly potatoes with some peas. They only had vegetarian samosas and this was their only variety. The puffs had minimal filling. I don't know what was supposed to be in the Manchurian puff but it just tasted like spices and dough. The pizza puff tasted like it was filled with just tomato sauce and spices, I didn't taste any cheese. They had Indian desserts like barfi. And also some cake slices. The cakes were advertised as egg-less, so good for those with egg allergies. Service was neutral. The supermarket is in the Emerald Plaza and is right next to Chatime. Lots of free parking.

I already had a lot of the ingredients at home, but I was missing a few and didn't want to make the trip across town to the grocery store that was recommended to us. Barrhaven Market was closer and we were doing errands in the area that day, anyway, so we thought we'd pop in. It might've been a little overwhelming had I not had a grocery list with me! They don't have fresh produce, but there are a ton of spices, baking and other cooking supplies, canned goods and shelf-stable items, some baked goods, frozen food, fresh meats, cheeses, and even beauty supplies. There was a whole spice aisle and I was tempted to buy a bunch of things that weren't on my list, but I didn't have much time to browse and had to stick to the plan. I was able to find the mahleb (ground St. Lucie cherry pits), 7-spice, and yeast pretty easily. There was a shade thing that was covering all of the meat and cheese and my husband tried to open it, but it wouldn't give for some reason and we didn't want to break anything. It was a bit hard to see what was behind it, so I asked the only employee there for some help. He pulled up the shade really fast and immediately picked up the akawie cheese I was looking for. He asked if I needed anything else on my list, and I had another cheese on it (kashkaval), but he said they no longer have it because it wasn't very popular or selling very well. I wasn't too worried about the prices, since I was looking for convenience more than value, but everything I got was affordable. The staff member was super helpful, there's a plastic (plexiglass?) screen at the cash, and it was pretty empty in the middle of the weekday, so no issues with crowding. I'll definitely be back!

They also have the lowest prices in the city that I've seen for Kracie DIY candy kits imported from Japan ($4.99). Their prices are a bit cheaper than other Asian supermarkets in general. They have a weekly flyer with even more discounts posted on their website. There is a bubble tea shop inside the supermarket called World Tea House and also a kiosk that sells bubble waffles called Nana Egg Bubbles. They don't have any other prepared foods though (like no BBQ station) and no Bakery. If you're looking for Asian items, you'll likely find it here. Free parking in their private parking lot.

I like the new Green Fresh. It's better than the old location. It's cleaner and more selection. But…read morethe shelves are sometimes empty when I go. Prices are mostly cheap, but some items are expensive. They have a bubble waffle store and a bubble tea store inside.

Like I said it's super clean, brightly lit and spacious. The aisles are wide, which I love. They sell mostly Korean items, but they have products from other Asian countries as well. They have shelf-stable items, refrigerated and frozen products and a small selection of fresh produce. For prepared foods, they have sushi from Sapporo Sushi and Poke bowls from Mr. Poke. They have some Gimbap, and Japchae too, I believe from Raon Kitchen, but I'm not entirely sure on that. They do carry Raon Kitchen kimchi. I love that they have a few freezers devoted to Korean ice cream!! You can buy by the box or individual bars. Their prices are quite good. I bought a couple of individual ice cream bars and they were $1.20 each . I bought some sliced rice cakes to make Tteokguk and a 500g bag was only $3. I also bought a 50g bag of dried seaweed for $3.69. All items were imported from South Korea. There's lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot.

I've been visiting this store for a few years with no issues. I've never tried their hot food section but it looks good! They do have a reward points program for frequent shoppers.
