T&T Supermarket is a Canadian branded Asian grocery store chain that is very similar to 99 Ranch Market back home in the states when I am from. T&T stands for Tina & Tiffany, after the founder's 2 daughters. T&T are also the initials of 2 early investors as well. You can find this market in the same plaza as Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters with plenty of parking. I love shopping at T&T Supermarket with such a vast selection of fresh produce, seafood/ meat, dried and fresh noodles, bakery goods, teas, premade foods/ meals, etc (there is also a hot food bar you can pick from and serve yourself and pay by the weight). My husband and I stopped by this particular location this afternoon. It was pretty busy, but that was expected on a Saturday. We got our cart (requires $1 to use but you will get it back after you return it) and then went inside to shop. Coming from Montreal and shopping there earlier this week, I was surprised to find that some of the same items at this location actually cost a little more. For example, I was looking for this special Hong Kong Milk Tea bag that saw that it cost $1 more for the box than at the location in Montreal. I like that this market is clean and does not have that familiar smell that some Asian markets may have. Aisles are wide enough to navigate your cart through and each aisle is labeled accordingly to help shoppers find where they may want to shop in. During this shopping visit, my husband and I ended up purchasing a live lobster. He really wanted to get some seafood during our trip and also that the vacation rental we are staying in has a good size steamer in the kitchen and figured it would be good to cook it while we are here. For lobster and crabs, you pick the one you want and place it in one of the plastic baskets, then you can bring it up to the employee behind the seafood counter and they will weight it for you, bag it and place a price sticker on it for you. I like that there is a self check out area, as the line for that went by so much faster than the other lines. Holy doodle. (Noodle!) I had not been to a T&T since I lived in Calgary in 2013. SO glad Ottawa has one and another one is coming to the west end! Whoooo! I can be in here for hours. I love to cook. So much good stuff to choose from. Even veg. Here, I can find my hot peppers. Sesame oil. Noodle heaven. Deli. Bakery. Fish. Meat counter. Duck. Shellfish. Odd snacks. All of it gets me excited. I had a croissant from there this morning. I like how each bakery item is individually wrapped. Yummy. France quality, no. But, delicious. Prices were more than reasonable and the cashier was sweet. I'd say the only part I skip is the beauty area but all of this store is interesting. Exotic. I dunno, 5 stars from me. Lots of parking too. Recently went to this store to buy food with my family. Store cashier is very nervous at self-checkout. They treat every customer like thief. A cashier came to me and said I didn't scan instant noodle. I told her I scanned but she didn't believe until I showed her my receipt. Maybe a lot of thieves in this area she cannot trust anybody. I don't feel comfortable to shop at this store and won't be back. If you want to shop at this store, be prepared to be insulted if you don't mind. read more

This place is the shit. For an Asian food freak like myself, someone who has travelled many dozens of times to Asia, and is obsessed with food and culture, this is where you need to get your basics and not so basics. I think this is one of the only places in Ottawa to get the authentic crispy skin roast pork that I love so much. Unfortunately it's hit or miss here. Dirty old lady covered in filth behind the counter serves it up - gruff and rough - chopping and putting it into a container. The bbq is perfection though. The times when the roast pork is a hit (and the skin is crunchy and edible rather than rock hard or chewy and inedible) just seems to be based on luck. Nevertheless I keep returning. read more

What can I say about T&T that hasn't already been said? It's pretty much an Asian Loblaws. Well, it was bought over by Loblaws, so that's a pretty apt description. It is the biggest and cleanest Asian supermarket in Ottawa. The staff are also friendlier than at other Asian supermarkets. They have a lot of prepared foods and an area to sit down and eat if you want to eat there. Their prepared sushi is probably the best of all the grocery store sushi (much better than actual Loblaws and other places like Farmboy). The prices are also lower. Their sushi also does not contain sesame seeds (yippee for me, who can't eat sesame seeds). They have "Chinese takeout" food like General Tao chicken, beef and broccoli and dishes of that ilk. I love their 2 items and steamed rice combo for $7.99 (plus you get a free soup). They have good dim sum items as well. Plus they have noodle soups. If you go at the end of the day, they mark down their prepared foods. They start with 30% off and can go as low as 50% off. I love their bakery section. They have good Portuguese Egg Tarts for $1.19 each. Obviously not as good as at a real Portuguese bakery, but not too shabby. They also have the Chinese style egg tarts for those who prefer that taste. They have a lot of Chinese style buns and some pastries with really creative flavour combinations (like pandan-coconut, or chocolate-lemon-almond). They used to carry utane bread, but I haven't seen any there for years :( They make really cute cakes there like ones that are shaped like an owl, or a duck. Their prepared foods and bakery sections are the main reasons that I go there. However, they are a grocery store, so they have produce, frozen foods, dry goods, canned goods, and fresh meats. Their seafood section is a little bit less clean than the rest of the store and there is a fishy smell around there. You can pick your own lobsters there - like literally grab them from the tank and inspect them for yourself. I've seen geoduck there! (Yeah, I know, geoduck are obscene looking). Their dry goods and canned goods are from all over Asia. If you're looking for ingredients to make Halo-Halo, they have them - imported from the Philippines! I've seen items there from Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, China, and the Philippines. They also have some random non-Asian items that are not widely available in Ottawa like Chimes Ginger Chews, and Grand Papa's Hot Cheese Balls (sounds rude, I know, but they are delicious, haha). T&T sometimes imports limited edition items from Asia like Japanese Cheesecake flavoured Kit Kat and Green Tea flavoured Kit Kat. They have so many exotic flavoured ice cream there. They also sell mochi ice cream! Since they were bought over by Loblaws, they do sell a lot of President's Choice items and there are a lot more "Western" items in the store now (by that I mean stuff that you can find at any grocery store in Ottawa). For those who are familiar with T&Ts in the GTA, prices at the T&T in Ottawa are higher. On average about $0.50 more for every item. Inside the T&T along the front (near the cash registers) they have other businesses. There is a store that sells "kawaii" stuff like Hello Kitty, Keroppi, stuffed toys shaped like food, etc. There's also a store that sells Asian cosmetics. There's an Optical and a Wind Mobile. There used to be a food stand that sold Bubble Tea and Taiwanese snacks, but that closed a while ago. The space is still vacant. The washrooms are next to this vacant spot. The parking lot is huge, but always seems to be packed. It's really hard to find a parking spot near the entrance. I usually park really far away and walk. read more

Came here this past Saturday looking for a particular item and it was PACKED! It was so packed that you literally had to strategically maneuver around the store; especially the prepared items. This store is huge, and its easy to get lost in. I found so many awesome items that I could not find elsewhere; sauces, spices, soups and candies! They have a huge selection of fresh noodles and wraps as well as an awesome produce sections with unique finds. I cannot wait to go back! read more

I'm glad to have a T&T in Ottawa but everything is more expensive than at the T&T's in Toronto :( I used to love their prepared foods. You could get a 2 items and rice or noodles and soup combo for $7.99. But now they got rid of their combos and have a pay by weight hot bar instead. It's now much more expensive. I got a much smaller serving and it cost me more. The food is basically the same, just more expensive now. They have lots of Asian stuff that you can't get at regular grocery stores and their bakery is cool, but it's too far for me to go often. read more

Good Chinese Grocery Store. They have everything, sushi, Dim Sum, hot food, bakery, seafood section with live fish, fresh fish and frozen. Meat section with fresh and frozen and you can request meat or fish to be cut for you, for example ribs which is very useful. The staff will cut them into short ribs on their band saw. Produce section with fruits a vegetables. Some western style dairy as well but usually more expensive then western grocers. Lots of different products in the aisles, sauces seasonings, snacks ect. There really is a lot of variety as this store is pretty big. I heard people drive from Montreal to this store. The good part is not everything is made in China, there are many products from Canada, USA, Mexico, especially produce. Lots of stuff as well from Taiwan, Japan and other south Asian countries. I like that you can get locally made frozen dumplings or other things from quality producers in Toronto. This is good for people who want to avoid buying food products from China. The store is clean and well kept. They have a simple but attractive seating area for eating in the store if you do that. I find this location more expensive then when I was living in Edmonton. We use to shop weekly at the T&T in West Edmonton Mall. Price is my biggest complaint here and the location is out of the way for us, so we go here for things once in a while that we can't get closer to our neighborhood. What an entertaining supermarket - brought my girls here for the 1st time the other day, i must say they didn't like the entire cooked duck, beak and all.....lol....they did like the entire cooked PIG.....including the face! I LOVE this place! T&T (or TNT as some people call it) is an incredibly large Asian supermarket - not just a grocery store, a full-fledged supermarket. They have a few in the GTA, and I was so excited to learn that they were expanding to Ottawa - finally! The only problem is that this location is all the way in Hunt Club, maybe because there isn't any space for it in Chinatown downtown. If you can make it there, though, I would suggest taking a vehicle, rather than taking the bus. Guaranteed, you will buy a lot more than you think! They have such a huge selection that I can't even begin to tell you what kind of items they sell. They have produce for really cheap, fresh seafood, meats, refrigerated and frozen items, rice, noodles, snacks, non-perishables, teas, sauces, spices, fresh sushi, hot and cold ready-made meals, barbeque, dim sum, bubble tea, and even a bakery with fresh bread, cakes, and other sweets and treats! You can find whatever you're looking for, and more. What I love the most is that it's a one-stop shop for all your Asian grocery needs. It has food and products that are Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Filipino, and from many other countries around the world, including India and Canada. T&T's arrival in Ottawa has closed a few businesses on Somerset and when you walk in you'll know why. The items are a lot fresher than what was found on the Somerset strip and they even have a full fledged bakery, cafeteria (dim sum, roast meats and various take out items) and a whole variety of seafood, groceries, pantry items as well as kitchen utensils etc. It's like any other commercial supermarket with a focus on Asian kitchens. This place is a nice grocery store but I find it pricier than it's GTA counterparts and by a noticeable amount. It's still cheaper and fresher than the Somerset strip though. Unless you have a car this place might be difficult for everyone to get to since it's on the West Hunt Club and Riverside area. read more

For being the only T&T Supermarket in Ottawa, this place isn't bad. But when you compare this T&T to ones in Toronto, it's not the best. The T&T in Toronto has a better prepared food selection and quality. But having said that, the prepared food here is still quite good and better than most Chinese takeout in my opinion. This T&T is still my go to place for convenience for Asian ingredients and food. You can find most exotic ingredients and food here. The bakery section is probably my favourite part since Asian desserts are less sweet. They have food samples on weekends. Weekends are also ridiculously busy and the parking lot is a zoo so try to avoid the weekends and do your shopping during the weekdays. Overall, the store is fairly clean and their produce is usually fresh. I just wish it was more like the ones in Toronto. read more

Today at T&T market they're are not authorizing entrance without a face mask. They were charging $1 per mask. If they are enforcing this they should provide you with a mask free of charge. I didn't have a dollar so we left. But I also don't agree that mask should be mandatory. read more

Good and big super market for Asian ingredients plus it has an area to buy prepared food as well like most of the Asian Supermarkets. This super market is located very close to the Ottawa International Airport, like half hour from downtown. I like to come here for lunch because their Dim Sum dishes are good and fresh; there is other plates too if you want to eat "regular" chinese food. Prices are ok and I could find all the items I expect from an Asian Market. Buy a pound of their BBQ Pork (Char Siu) or Peking Duck... yes, those hanging there and you will not regret. read more

I have been a fan of T&T for years, like the parent company as well. I get the COVID health restrictions and am fine with their policies to require a mask; bring your own or pay $1 for theirs. This grocery store is cranking out some of the best authentic Asian food takeout at reasonable prices. From their peaking duck, to their smoked pork, the dishes are incredible. You can get prepared food to takeout (normally they have seating) or preassembled ingredients to cook at home. For Father's Day, my wife got me sushi, egg rolls and pot stickers. Sushi was incredible and the reason for this post. If it was this fresh every time I got it here, this would be a 5 star review. That's the only problem with T&T, it's not consistently great. The pot stickers and spring rolls were terrible out of the heated package. They were marginally edible after reheating and not recommended. Finally, the store Is very polarizing, some people with not like the smell and intense flavours of authentic Chinese. Busy is better, try them on a weekend and bring your mask! read more

Tried the Jian Bing pancake today made right in front of me. I have never had it but wanted to try as I have seen so many YouTubers trying it out on their channels. 100 per cent recommend. It's a savory crepe batter that also has eggs dropped on it as it heats. The eggs cook and the cook adds green onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, bean paste, chili paste, and pickled greens. The entire crepe is then flipped and a huge length of crispy won ton cracker is placed in the middle. The crepe is then wrapped up in it. They will cut it for you to take away in a container but I got the sense that they might also leave it in its massive length. Not sure how you walk away with it if it's not cut. As it was, even in the cut format, it's a massive handful. Best if eaten right away. I got the impression you could maybe sub out the wonton cracker for the crispy dough sticks which seem to be there too. It's just a different style or variation of the crepe. Cost was just over $7.00 and it will feed two people easily. Try it and eat it right away. Mine had to travel about 20 minutes to get home, but even then it was crispy inside. It's a variety of textures and your palate will than you. read more

T&T is the premier place in Ottawa to get Asian ingredients without having to go to Chinatown. They have a great selection of items to choose from, the only issue is that they can be very overpriced for items. They have a hot food section to choose from, but since they went away from the meal packages to a weight system, they are now way overpriced for not very much food. If you are a fan of Asian food or spices, then you probably already know this store well as it's the largest Chinese/Asian grocery store in Ottawa. If you are like myself and are not a huge fan, it has the most complete diversity of sauces, food, snacks you can imagine from China, South Korea, Japan, and most countries from south east Asia. It also has a massive selection of ready to eat pork, duck, chicken, dumplings, sushi, desserts, bread and just about anything you can think of. It looks fresh (you can literally choose your seafood live from the tanks!!) and is well priced, choose from and dine in at the sitting area. Not only do they sell a huge variety of Asian fresh fruits, veggies, meat but they also sell all types of tea, coffee and other beverages from all Asian countries. There is also a section for kitchen ware, which has nice Asian decorated dishes, chop sticks, rice cookers, and woks. Basically for anything food related and Asian you will find it here a plenty! The selection of spices, cooking oils and condiments is gigantic in itself. It's worth the trip just to see everything and possibly be a bit adventurous trying some of the ready to eat foods. I had a selection of dumplings, brought home some spiced beef short ribs and vegetable spring rolls- all super yummy. The only negative I can say is that at times the staff can be a bit standoffish if you are white and don't speak Chinese but they are polite. This place is AMAZING! As you walk in you're greeted with LOADS of freshly made sushi - and you will find so much more than your standard grocery store california rolls here. They've got it all! Stalk up on a dynamite roll (or five!) and make your way over to the dim sum counter where all the dishes are reasonably priced. But warning: Do not take the congee. It is not good. A normal person might think they've got enough food to feed themselves for a week by this point, but I urge you to continue. There are amazing frozen dessert treats; do yourself a favour and buy the mochi ice cream. That stuff is divine! Once you're done there, you will want to see the baked goods - hello kitty cake anyone? and what about a tuna bun for the road? And maybe a pineapple bun, a red bean bun and a bbq pork bun too... I came in on a Saturday afternoon looking for frozen banana leaves. I asked a staff member where to find them, and he was able to lead me there quickly. I got what I needed, and it was super cheap. The checkout was so quick . I was in and out in 5 minutes or less, which was surprising to me since the store is so huge. God knows how long the mussels were there. The next day, they were all dead. (The shells were all opened) And I also got the squid tentacle. The Wifey and I cruised through here cause she wanted to show me that they had Oriental Markets in Canada, and though its contents make up more than their entire Chinatown, i couldnt hate on the lovely place. I love this place and try to go at least every other month for various supplies. It's a huge grocery market specializing in various Asian ingredients and cuisines. You can atart out by buying freshly cooked Chinese food, rolled sushi, and decadent baked goods on one end of the market, and then proceed to wend your way through all the aisles of spices, sweets, snacks, ingredients, cookware, and household products to the other end of the store. There, you will find a plethora of live seafood that you cannot find anywhere else in Ottawa, both fish and shellfish. Last time i was there I found myself enthralled at the sight of a box of live blue crabs and another bin with live sea urchins. Aside from the fact that I wouldn't know what to do with the latter, it's part of the allure of going to T & T. You know the fish you're buying hasn't been sitting there for the last week, growing extra funky with age. There is also a butcher's area where you can find pretty affordable meat cut to order, as well as a vast supply o frozen meats and seafoods and vegetarian proteins as well. As part of my household is vegetarian, I tend to stock up on good, affordable, non-GMO tofu as well as pre-prepared mock meat as well, at a fraction of the price of a western-style supermarket. My favorite section, though, is the produce. I can find fresh ingredients there that are difficult to find elsewhere, such as fresh bamboo shoots, thai basil, various sizes of galangal and lemongrass, a wider variety of chili peppers, and a broad range of tropical fruits not found in other places. I usually spend most of my money in the produce section, even the typical western fruit selection is larger here and better quality, especially in the winter. After checking out, you will find a variety of little individual shops at the front, offering things from travel agencies, beauty products, real ginseng items, to cute anime and pokemon- themed stuffed animals. Many is the time I've picked up a small piece of jade or sterling jewelry on my way out, or grabbed a geeky fan item for one of the children, things which can't be found at Hot Topic or HMV. The place is clean, and the staff has always been friendly with me every time I go there. The bathrooms are ok, at the front, and on the produce side of the store. Depending on the time of year and day of the week, the place can be packed full of people or easily navigable with more room to get around. For some reason, I always find myself there right before the Chinese New Year, and I end up walking out of the place with all sorts of seasonal items and decorations. This wondrous and massive store ought to extend its locations to Nova Scotia. I love the little Asian bodegas found in the HRM, but the sheer volume and variety of produce, fresh seafood and meats, and ready-to-eat meals (not to mention the cafeteria) blows them all out of the water. The cafeteria offers a number of options, all mouth-watering and fresh. The hot meal I had (2 item combo plus noodles) was delicious and generously proportioned. The produce section is massive, although you'd be wise to dig through items to find the perfect veggie or fruit- many are bruised or overripe. Live lobster, fish, and other sea creatures are on display for your choosing, and no longer live beef, chicken, pork, etc. is laid out neatly. I would caution against purchasing the many common "Western" grocery items at T&T, however; they are uniformly overpriced ($6-7 for a block of butter!). Stick to your regular grocer for everyday products. I will be dropping in for a mango tapioca treat before I head back to the East Coast! read more

I have only shopped here sporadically in the past but have been numerous times for dim sum and, each and every time, the food is spectacular ! Everything is made on-site, sometimes even in front of you ! The prices are generally reasonable and the service is USUALLY pretty good. However, if you are familiar with Asian stereotypes (or if you've ever lived there), service and behaviour can be unpredictable (but often unintentional). The only drawback (if you can call it that) is that, during busy times, the eating area can fill up VERY quickly, meaning you may be forced to share tables. read more

You will not be impressed by the decor - it's a restaurant in an Asian supermarket with no wait service, plastic utensils or chop sticks but the food will dance the Electric Slide all the way down. We had Szechuan noodles with a peanut sauce and cilentro and a glass of house water from the tap. The total bill was under 20 bucks and is one of the best deals in town. Prices are good, and sometimes it's even more affordable to pick up a few western items at a good price, too. Taking the long drive out to the South end of town is well worth it to come to this HUGE... and I mean HUGE Asian food store. If you need something to cook asian food, it's almost guaranteed they have it. As much as you may want to take a bus out there, I suggest driving, as you'll probably end up with items you weren't planning on picking up in the first place. I highly recommend their assortments of chinese buns. They have all sorts of buns from pizza buns, to red-bean filled, to a sweet bun filled with icing. I usually end up buying more than one when I come here. The assortment of food here is phenomenal. I've spent over an hour in the store, just looking at all the different things that are here. Not to mention the countless times I spent hunting for the 1 item I wanted, and well... since it took so long to find it (I hate asking where to find items. Its a scavenger hunt to me) I ended up with 10 other things that I found so awesome or looked so yummy that I just HAD to buy. I have to caution you on one thing though - not everything is fresh. I went to find tapioca pearls, and it turns out I almost bought some that were expired and moldy. So definitely watch out for what you buy. (Like a lot of grocery stores however). This place has got EVERYTHING! It is always busy, but if you want to make a Chinese dish and need special ingredients, this place will have it. The veggies are always fresh and if you want instant take - out, they also have a mini restaurant where you order your dishes among food that is already made, and they package it up and give it to you in 2 minutes.
