Review on the Bakery section. I visited to pick up some HK wintermelon red bean pastry and Portuguese tarts. The HK wintermelon red bean pastry is made with oil and cake flour, it has layers but is quite dense. The filling is minimal. Caution, have a beverage if you are eating it, it seemed on the drier side for me. Portuguese tarts were in the cold refrigerator, no fresh tarts. Must be trucked from a GTA location, sorry not going to buy tarts that aren't fresh. read more

THANK YOU FOR FINALLY BLESSING THE KW AREA WITH SOME HIGH QUALITY CHINESE GROCERIES. I rarely do reviews of places that aren't restaurants...but this T&T needs a special shout-out. They have a pretty decent selection in fresh Asian produce, freezer, and dry goods. The staff here are polite, hardworking, and keep the place clean! Their pre-made food area is what got me EXTREMELY IMPRESSED. They've got a Chinese bakery section, buns, bbq meats, self-served hot foods, dim sum, sushi boxes, AND a seafood bar!!! I've never seen anything like this...you pick out whatever fresh seafood they have and they send it in an overheard bucket-conveyor-belt system to get cooked on the opposite side. So cool !! I've tried some of their Chinese pastries and delicious fried foods already. Most of them tasted authentic and like they were made fresh. read more

Love this place. Such a massive variety of snack options, drinks, ice cream, veggies and more! And reasonably priced. I love their onigiri (I could devour 10 in one sitting) and cup noodles. T&T has finally opened in Waterloo! Came here two days after the opening day and the crowds were still huge. There was no lineup to get into the store, but there was still a long line to pay. There was a lot of staff available to help at every line and self-checkout which did make the cashing out process a lot faster. Although I came to try the hot foods for this visit, the fruits and veggies in the produce section looked fresh, and everything was organized well as you would expect for a newly opened store. Compared to the T&Ts in Markham, I was a bit disappointed to see the bakery selection was small. However, they do have fresh egg tarts, cakes, and Kevin's taiyaki! The interesting thing about this store is that they have a seafood bar, where you can choose different kinds of seafood and they will cook it for you. It's convenient for people who don't know how to cook and prepare a live lobster but still want to eat it. The selection of hot food was great - from spicy pork chops to stewed fish, you can grab a takeout box and pick a variety for $1.69/100g. I decided to get a premade box of stewed pork and mushrooms on rice, which comes with a tea egg and veggies. The pork was quite delicious, but I found that the rice was a tad dry. Portions were good though, as I ate half of my bowl and my tummy was already full. I also tried the BBQ chicken leg which was a bit fatty but flavourful. Maybe a bowl of rice noodles would help balance it out. Nevertheless, the food was tasty and filling at a great price. Not sure if I'll be here weekly for groceries since it's not as close to me, but I'll definitely be back again to try the other hot foods and bakery items. I'll have to try out the seafood bar next time when the crowds get smaller! The prepared foods are a lifesaver for hungry students like me. I remember talking to my friends about hoping a T&T opened up nearby so when I found out about this one, I was over-the-moon. Living in Guelph (about 30 mins away), this would be the only major, reputable Asian grocery store so I do travel to and from for big grocery trips. Filled with all the grocery essentials especially Asian sauces & spices, fruits, frozen foods, drinks, meats and seafood you would not find at your typical grocers. Plus an amazing bakery with the cutest pastries and cakes and delicious buns (my kids love their hot dog buns!). They also have a seafood station where you can choose your own seafood and also have it cooked they way you want while you wait or shop. A hot-table buffet of ready-made Chinese cuisine for your picking plus dim sum and pre-made sushi station. Did I mention they also have an aisle for Asian skincare & beauty products? The best! Staff are super friendly and attentive and the place is very clean. Highly recommend! read more

It is very exciting that we finally have a specialized Chinese grocery store in Waterloo. We go there every other week, we love fresh vegetables, Chinese goodies ，live fishes and lobsters, and we sometimes eat there for dinner. Only concern is the prices for the same producers like milk, bread, and yogurt are more expensive than Sober stores. read more

I've been in T & T in Mississauga and Toronto; I did not see a security person that follows shoppers or watching on shoppers shop. However, T & T in Waterloo has a security person is watching and follows shoppers. I don't feel comfortable shopping in there. They should have a security system, not have a security person run around the store. read more

The variety was great, especially in the produce department and the prepared food. The store and washroom were clean. I thought some items were priced higher compared to Superstore, which, like T&T, is also owned by Loblaws. Overall, a great store. I would recommend it if in the area. read more
