We decided to let him try Texas Adventure Camp. The only positive, he at least enjoyed some of the activities; however, it seems that supervision and keeping things age appropriate is lacking. Long story short, we had to pick up our son on Wednesday! He's not the type to be homesick and like I stated previously, this wasn't his first, second or even third year at a camp...it was his 5th! He was allowed to camp overnight with boys in HIGH SCHOOL! He's was going into 6th grade! High school boy talk at night is quite different than middle school boy talk. And I'm not the type to shelter by child but it was highly inappropriate! Thankfully my son had his cell phone so we were in constant contact and we even encouraged him to wait it out to see if it got better. He felt so uncomfortable with the type of "talk" that was allowed that he requested to come home. Of course, the camp blamed it on being homesick. We requested at least half a refund and his camp store refund...nothing. Needless to say, he's excited to go back to T Bar M this year!

This wonderful place gave me the love and attention that I needed to find myself. I went through the leadership program offered through the camp and that gave me the opportunity to thrive even further. Now, having completed my fourth summer as a counselor and entered the camp's coveted Decade Club, I see the impact that this place has on every single girl that stays here. I love working with these girls, and feel as though my RRR campers carry a large piece of my heart. All of the RRR counselors have a tendency to refer to their campers as "my girls" or "my kids," because even though we have them for only a few weeks, we love being around these girls and watching them gain the confidence only camp can give you. Also, I have had the privilege of working alongside many other counselors who came up with me through the ranks of camperdom, as most of the staff this past summer attended RRR and went through the leadership program. These people are some of my best friends and most trusted confidantes, without whom I cannot imagine living a full life. The ten core values of the camp stay with all of us past summer: friendship, honesty, loyalty, creativity, kindness, leadership, enthusiasm, optimism, determination and helpfulness. Each value is represented by a different colored bead, presented to campers at the end of their sessions. I wear my beads all year round as a reminder of the standard that I am held to and the bonds that I have made in my years at RRR. This is truly a camp that runs on a sense of family, belonging and tradition. I can trace many of my personal successes in my life back to the confidence that Rue, Shanna, Skeet and the other amazing staffers at RRR have instilled in me. Their sense of caring and community is unparalleled in any other place that I have seen. For me, and many of the people who are RRR girls, it's not just camp...it's home.

The staff was very friendly and concessions had lots of snacks and options. Upon entry we were crowded at the door to pay for entry . No breathing room . There is minimal seating for competitions as many had to stand. They did make efforts to get more seats but you can only fit so many seats in a small area. They did have room on the other side of the wall near the floor they could have used but had it blocked off. The set up was smooth for the athletes but not for videoing your children ! The gym has ample room but I fell like it was not organized properly .

I had been so nervous about getting things ready, I had a million questions, but Sara & Gabby happily answered all of them and were so kind & professional! They have amazing communication! I started my little on a 2 day/wk schedule, and we decided we could move him to 3 days sooner as he really enjoys it. We also feel much more comfortable having him there more often. The school itself is gorgeous, they have an awesome view I am jelly! The classrooms are lovely, the ratio of kids to teachers is great, and they have sooo many awesome things for the kids for learning & play. They are helping with potty training, and he's making friends! The app they use to communicate is super efficient & handy! They have menu's to show what they eat every day, and while we have not used the Well Center yet, it seems like an awesome addition to have access to if needed. Mrs. Miranda has been wonderful, and so have the other teachers who help on the early mornings! I'm very thankful that I have a safe space to take my kid, and a place that greets him with kindness & open arms! I never heard from anyone at the dance studio. I called again today to get information regarding a class and the woman "Amy", answering the phone was clueless about the classes or the dance schedule the studio offered. She said she would take down my name and number and someone would call me back. I said no thank you, as I am still waiting for someone to call me back from last year regarding the same class information. This is really sad, as I grew up in New Braunfels and I live just down the street in Gruene. I would like to support local businesses, but not this one. Very disappointing.
