It is located in a fairly old building and the only disabled/wheelchair entrance due to the oddly shaped step going into the store is the offputting, dirty, back "staff entrance" I have long avoided this store as its name Llilywhites is associated with Tottenham Hotspur FC - I stupidly thought this was actually their club shop until I noticed a sign which confused me "The world's finest sports store", after doing some research later I found the name comes from the family which used to own and run the store, located at 25 Regent St since the year of 1925 - it is nice to see it is still in its' original old building, which surely must be Grade listed by now - fairly impressive for a sports shop and especially considering it is now owned by the UK's largest sports retailer, for them to keep the original branding including the website (same website as Sports Direct just with the Lilywhites logo), despite other branches in other cities changing hands such as Leeds, Newcastle and Nottingham. It seems despite seeming to be a higher-end brand the overall store feel and layout is the same - and that includes the staff who didn't seem friendly or helpful by any means to struggling disabled customers or just shoppers looking to find something. It is over multiple floors and does have a decent selection, however. Is it as good as Sports Direct's flagship central London location? No, of course not - other than keeping the brand name it seems the store which seemed so historic and cool has become a boring branded store in every other regard, it's just a more expensive Sports Direct without improved quality/service etc. 2* - For the store size and location, nothing else.

Wednesdays: Mixed 5K, 7K, 10K. Friday mornings: Mixed, 7K. Sunday mornings: LONG ASS RUNS. This is also in addition to the Nike Training Club classes! Pretty impressive for a small store, I'll say. I go primarily to the Monday sessions and do the 7K, which is a normal, short-ish running distance for me. But you'll get an entirely different workout with the pacers, who make you do all sorts of intervals and sometimes all-body training. It's a great workout while also being a lot of fun. The huge thing is that the pacers aren't your annoying, cliche perky cheerleaders; they're actually down-to-earth, relaxed, and amazing at what they do. They'll take care of the whole group and let you work at your pace. If you're faster, they add in extra workouts to challenge you; if you're slower, they will stay with you and figure out how to guide the group so that you'll be able to catch up. Everyone's really friendly, too. Not the type of competitive atmosphere you'd expect! So if you're ever thinking of trying to run shorter or longer distances more regularly with the support of a friendly group, definitely pop by one of the days they run together. If you can't make those specific days, they also encourage you to check out the store on Oxford Street that runs Tuesdays and Thursdays (ladies), though having been to the other one once I'd say that this one is more organised and more like a collective. And did I mention that after 10 runs, you get a free T-shirt? I know what this sounds like, but I PROMISE I'm not being sponsored by them. I bought a pair of sneakers here and unbeknownst to me at that time, they were half size too small. I wore them the next day and walked over 9 miles around London. By the end of the day my toes were so much in pain that I went straight back to the same store to buy another pair just in a bigger size. This is where THOMAS, THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDER EVER, comes to into the picture. He professionally explained the sizing for me and guided me to the correct size. I thanked him and asked if there's a way to make an exchange instead of buying another £129 pair to replace the ones I didn't need and he told me that it's not the norm, but considering the situation he will make the exchange. I didn't have the box or receipt with me so I offered to go to my hotel to pick them up. Thomas said that he doesn't need the box because the shoes cannot be sold again and asked if I had a mobile bank statement to proof my purchase. Thanks to Amex app, I pulled up the receipt and walked away with perfect pair and happy face. The moral of the story is that a combination of a great company like Nike, that allows their employees to make decisions based on each situation and doesn't strangle them with strict guidelines; and a fantastic employee like Thomas, who has the capacity to see the big picture and creativity to find a solution, is a winning combination. (They used to be based near Victoria, but moved a few years ago to Waterloo Cut). As well as the usual range of army-surplus type gear - jackets, vests, shirts and trousers, they do a good line in MA1 flying jackets (£25), Harrington Jackets in a range of colours (and at £19.95, rather than inflated 'retro' prices) and of course foot-wear. They also sell used gear, but most items are brand new, and at their prices there's no need to go down the second hand route. I recently bought a pair of brand new British Army boots here for under £50, which are superbly comfortable (in fact I'm wearing them as I write this) and will doubtless last for years. The shop is very small, very old-fashioned, and run by two amazingly helpful brothers as a family business. They have a very loyal customer base - when I was there recently, they had a regular from Canada buying a pair of desert boots. If they haven't got an item in stock, they will order it in and call you when it's in, but they equally won't pressure you if you decide against a purchase. They'll also give you honest advice if you ask for it - they know their stock. The rise of the internet has seen the death of many traditional army surplus and camping shops, but Waterloo Camping is a one of survivors. If you want excellent value, traditional army surplus gear (and more besides), this is the place to go.
