Lincoln Furniture Warehouse is advertised as The Big Yellow Building on St Peter Street and it…read morecertainly is. From the outside it looks like a big yellow warehouse and not very welcoming, but go inside and it is absolutely crammed full of furniture. This doesn't sell your average, run of the mill, furniture, but very nice pieces manufactured in oak, pine and walnut to name a few. They have everything from coffee tables, through dining suites, to bookcases, CD racks and sideboards. Go through to the other side and they also have wardrobes, bed frames, chests of drawers etc. I bought some oak pieces for my lounge and am very impressed with them. They are well made and finished and extremely heavy - nothing flimsy about them. You can choose to have either a waxed finish or lacquer coating on the furniture - depending on which pieces you buy. If you are fortunate enough to find a piece you like in their sale section, lucky you - you can pick up some wonderful things at up to 50% off their normal price. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful and if you don't want to take the furniture away with you, they will deliver it for you very quickly. All in all a fabulous store with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere (once inside that is - not the yellow warehouse look of outside!)

You are better off choosing one of the outside car parks like Brewer Street.

River Island is located right in the centre of the main High Street…read more I'm always lured in the wonderful window displays. I always like everything River Island sell, so when i see gorgeous shoes and clothes in the window, i can't help but go in and have a look. The store in Maidstone has a large ladies section on the ground floor, and the Mens section is located on the first floor. The prices in River Island are never cheap, sometimes thing can seem overpriced, especially when you have Dorothy perkins right next door, but the quality of the clothes makes the item worth buying. I buy all my jeans from River Island because they last me years. The best thing i love about River Island is the gorgeous shoes and handbags. The staff in Maidstone are really nice and friendly. They are all young pretty girls and are happy to take the time to find that special outfit, for that special night out. Thanks girls!

The layout is good…read moreas you can see pretty much everything as soon as you walk in and it is possible to push a pram around most of the store. There are two downsides though. 1. the mens section is upstairs so if you are shopping for hubby but have the pram with you then you are pretty stuffed in here. 2. The gorgeous shoes, boots and handbags are right at the back of the store on the ground floor which would be wonderful if you didnt have to go down about 20 steps to get to them, so again, stuffed if you are a shoe-a-holic ( like me ) !!! I still love shopping in here though so it can't all be bad can it.

It is located at the other end of the High St, near Woolworths, is set over two floors. The ground floor is mainly women's clothes and accessories, and the 1st floor is home to men's clothing, children's clothing, home ware and shoes. Every time I visit the Maidstone store it always appears to be very tidy and well organised. I hardly ever see items of clothing left on the floor for a long period of time, and it is all nicely presented in the shop. The staff at Maidstone are very friendly and helpful and always on hand to help if you need a different size when trying on clothing.
I love Primark! Granted, the children's section is upstairs, but there's a good sized, quick and…read morereliable lift. At weekends it can get a little frantic, with clothes being left on the floor and on the wrong pegs by people changing their minds with what they've picked up, but there's always a few members of staff doing their best to keep on top of the situation. I've always found the staff to be fine, polite and helpful if a little stressed! The range of clothes is great. The adult clothes can be a bit funny on sizes (no two size 18s are ever quite the same) but they're so cheap and provided you try them on first it's not really a problem. The kids clothes are great - bright and colourful and easy to mix and match when one of the little cherubs gets pasta sauce down the top from one outfit! Personally I think the clothes are very good quality for what you pay, and my 1 year old is still wearing clothes that were bought 8 years ago for my eldest and have been on my 3 year old as well! I find they wash just as well, if not better than some more expensive items, and if something comes home from nursery with orange poster paint all up one sleeve it doesn't really matter!

The ground floor houses the mens and homeware departments whilst the womensware, maternity and Childrensware are upstairs. Although the new store has a modern feel to it (a little like new look) the aisle are much smaller and it's not easy to manouver a pushchair around it, which funny enough is worst in the childrens department. On a plus note, I Autumn Winter range seems more fashionable that their previous ranges and has a lot of the Folk look about it.
