I ordered firewood from Americut Landscaping & Tree Experts four times. Each time, owner Flavio Curi would text that it would be delivered by 11am. By 5pm I'd text again and he'd have an excuse each time but would respond that the his son would deliver it the next day by 11am. It'd then be delivered usually by late afternoon. The wood burns very quickly. Some is dense like pine, other is moldy and rotting, some is not seasoned - and most all of it was wet. The last order left a strong unpleasant odor in my house. His son usually had helpers - kids out of school during the holiday - but came alone to deliver 4 pallets. Flavio said he'd give me a great deal on 4 pallets - $275. It seemed reasonable as one pallet was $125. Because I have a dog inside a gate, the son told me to keep the dog inside. I asked how he was possibly going to carry in that much wood alone. He mumbled something but never explained he was going to drive a small lift machine into my yard. He had previously stacked it on my deck. I tipped him - and his helpers - each time. Flavio's son used a small fork lift to drive into my yard and deposit sealed pallets on my lawn. There are tire tracks leading precisely to the pallets, in and out of my gate. My yard is now destroyed. The wood is the worst I've gotten from Americut. He didn't unload any of the pallets and had previously stacked it on my deck. I'm disabled and am now trying to get the wood out of these tightly plastic wrapped pallets and am left with massive blocks of wood. I feel that if he'd stacked it I would've seen that it is a lesser amount of wood so Flavio fooled me with his "discount." I texted Flavio pictures of my destroyed yard. He became immediately defensive, enraged and insulting, taunting and bullying me. I was taken aback when I saw my ruined yard and took pictures. His son happened to be in a picture. Flavio said that if I wrote a "bad review" he would call the police and report me for sexually harassing his son. The policeman called this "laughable" and said any judge would laugh as well for both the denial of ruining my lawn and that I - a 55 year old disabled woman - could possibly have harassed his 17 year old son in any way and even as absurd and desperate as Flavio's accusation is, 17 is of legal age. I barely talked to the son except in a strictly business capacity and again, tipped him every time. I texted Flavio that I wanted to please peacefully resolve this. His response was to scream repeatedly, "I will have you arrested if you write one bad review online." The policeman I talked to felt that it'd be morally correct to warn others Not to use this company. I've never written a review before of Any company but this is inexscuable and I concur with the policeman. He also suggested I write the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint at the Magistrate Court. Please be aware that Flavio is capable of such heinous accusations and outright bullying. I Strongly Urge anyone to not use Americut for firewood. I would give it 0 stars if possible.

In fact, I'll be having them back this fall to remove several more trees. I had five trees on my property marked with neon ribbon, along with a sixth tree on my neighbor's property. I had told my neighbor that I was looking for a trustworthy tree removal company and would include his tree in the negotiations if I found the right one. One of the Josken supervisors stopped and asked if I would consider using their company. I explained that I was planning to wait until fall before having the trees removed. He quoted me a price and offered to have the stumps ground as part of the job. I was impressed with both the price and the offer. We shook hands and made the deal. Since my wife and I were leaving in just three days to pick up our grandchildren, I assumed the work would have to wait until we returned. I was surprised when he told me, "We'll have a crew there tomorrow." True to his word, the crew arrived the very next day. They were friendly, professional, hardworking, and completed the job in just a few hours. What impressed us most was the cleanup afterward. When they finished, the property looked excellent. The company and crew absolutely earned five stars. Now, if I'm handing out grades, I have to be a little harder on myself. Everyone knows you should get important details in writing, even when dealing with great companies. Everyone, apparently, except me. I tend to shake hands, trust people, and walk away believing we'll both benefit. The truth is that stump grinding wasn't particularly important to me. Over the years I've cut down more than 200 pine trees on my property, and I often leave a short stump behind and place flower pots with seedlings on top of them. However, I had proudly told my neighbor that I negotiated a good deal and that his stump would be ground. Unfortunately, the supervisor who made the agreement neglected to pass that information along to the crew. When I mentioned it to one of the crew members, he couldn't have been more courteous. With a smile, he said he understood and even offered to see if the company could return later to take care of it, despite the fact that my wife and I would be out of town. That generous offer wouldn't work because our sons let the dogs roam freely inside our fenced property, and opening the gate while we're gone could create problems. I told him not to worry about my stumps. They could stay exactly as they were. The only stump that really mattered was my neighbor's. He assured me he would speak with his supervisor. Unfortunately, by that point most of the equipment had already been packed up and the crews were leaving. Even so, my wife and I remained extremely pleased with the work. It was five-star service from a five-star crew. Later, a friend stopped by and checked the work. I mentioned that the only thing missed was my neighbor's stump. Without hesitation he replied, "That's your fault." He was completely serious. And honestly, he was right. So my only advice is this: even when dealing with excellent companies and honest people, get the details in writing. As for Josken Tree Experts, we'll see you again this fall. This time I'll bring the written list.
