Both of my kids have been attending TLC since about 6 months old and have for a few years now. I'll start by talking to parents who are already on the fence or nervous about daycare. What I say often is that if we didnt 'need' to put our kids into daycare, we still would (at least part time). I attribute my (older) kid's personality, outgoingness, and even her high level of empathy to TLC. You'll hear people describe daycare as handing your kids over to 'strangers'. These caregivers/teachers become family to your child. I feel good every morning knowing that my kids are usually getting a big hug on arrival from a teacher who truly wants the best for them. Your kids will get more attention, more socialization, and have more learning than I think any solo parent could do at home. My 3 year old has more friends than me. The best thing about TLC is the amount of activities they do, to name just a few: Valentines Party, Friendsgiving, Visit form Santa, Visit from police officer, fire fighter, dentist, a petting zoo day, Chinese New Year celebration, Fall festival, dinosaur fossils, yoga, making Challah bread, halloween party and trunk or treat, in the summer water play almost every day. After inquiring with a few daycares for our almost 2 year old, we landed on TLC and I am so happy that we did!! Everyone there goes above and beyond, not only with the care of my child, but also with how they communicate and respond to me. I was never comfortable with the idea of daycare, but after two years home, we felt that our child needed more (socialization, stimulation, engagement.) Any and all questions I had were answered by Jon and still anything I may need, he always responds to my emails quickly and is just super helpful and made the process seamless. The teachers truly care about your child too, providing daily updates and treating them like their own. Even teachers that aren't technically assigned to him, they help me out when I get there and seem to be involved no matter what class they're in. You don't just feel like a number or insignificant by any one of the staff there. All of them are hands on and my son, who normally doesn't let anyone hold him, will go to any one of them and makes it so easy for me to leave him. After the first month he would beam with smiles pulling up and the pictures I get of him so happy say everything to me. As a first time mom, and both me and my husband working, I feel like he is in the best hands while he's there and he is actually improving overall and comes home learning something new all the time. I wish we would have done this sooner, but I'm so happy to be able to call TLC our second home. read more

From the beginning we have felt a part of the community at Brookside. My Pre-K son loves it there. The owner, and teachers have really worked with us this year to make sure he is ready for kindergarten. Yes, the school is larger but not overwhelming and very much gets them ready! I've been emailing back and forth with the director/owner of the daycare for the past 3 months before we move to Merrick and on the day of our first visit, she told us my son could be registered for the September class only which was totally different from what we originally discussed! I've mentioned the date several times in my email and she confirmed that my son could visit/register on the same day. The place looked super chaotic with no separate rooms for different ages of kids and the teachers didn't look happy. None of them had smile on their face. Although we were initially very disappointed and upset which messed up our plan entirely, we were kind of relieved to find out a much better option nearby. Even if they had a spot available, I wouldn't have felt comfortable sending my son there because of the reasons above. I do not recommend this daycare to any parents. read more

My son has been with TLC since he was 3 months old (he is now 8 months). I highly recommend them for infant care. The small babies have their own area and there are just 3 in their room with one teacher. Theresa, Lori, and Janine have all went above and beyond for my son. They worked with him on sitting up, tummy time and they had him participating in crafts and story time from a very young age. Each day you are sent home with a detailed sheet including diaper changes, naps and activities. I toured several daycares in the area and this was the first place I could imagine leaving my baby boy. I have had no issues and I'm so thankful to have found such a great center with a caring team to look after my son. read more

On her 1st day here my daughter was scheduled to be picked up by my sister who none of the staff had ever met. They handed my daughter over to her without any ID. They apologized and assured me this was not in line with their policies. I kept her in and gave them another chance. There was never anybody in charge on the premises, I had multiple problems because of this. My daughter was previously enrolled in another daycare. She talked about the other children, ran through the door in excitement each morning and was learning at incredible rates.... Counting to 15 at the age of 20 months and saying her alphabet to g. At this daycare she started hysterical crying as soon as I pulled in, clung to me.... Her counting and alphabet stopped progressing and I hadn't noticed she learned anything new. The last straw was when I asked in person to put my mother on the pickup list because my sister had an emergency and couldn't get her. Nobody in charge was there or able to be reached by phone and the teacher told me she wouldn't be able to release her to my mother. I ended up taking my daughter to work for the rest of the day. When we went to pick up her stuff she was hysterical thinking she was being dropped off. I explained that we were getting her stuff and never going back. When we walked out she said "bye bye, see ya never". This was a week ago. I have not even recieved a phone call from management or owners. read more

We will miss you TLC! My son attended TLC for a year from age 1 to 2. He is allergic to peanuts and so that is one of the top reasons we initially chose TLC, because they are a nut free daycare. It was great to not have to worry about his allergy while he was at daycare. Also, all of the teachers are wonderful! They were so good to him and he loved them! I cannot recommend them enough! Unfortunately, we moved out of state, and I am sad to say I don't think we will ever find a daycare as good as TLC. Thanks to everyone there who helped make Dylan's time so great! read more

I was nervous dropping my daughter off at her first day last week, but felt much more at ease after meeting with her teachers that morning. Being a working mother can be hard, but I can assure you that the security that this daycare provides for our children is extremely hard to find elsewhere. Throughout the day I called just to check up on my daughter and the staff answered all my questions. The owner (I believe her name is Francine) was super helpful and kind to me. I am so happy to have found this daycare because it is on my way to work and has very diligent staff. Thank you TLC :) read more
