First and best Moules frites experience in Belgium! After the first awkward interaction for our early dinner, the owner(?) opened up and graciously walked us through this local specialty. It was very good, especially the garlic wine broth version. He even mentioned very honestly that it wasn't really mussel season, but said their preparation was the best. He was right! This place was fantastic! We did mussels in their unique garlic & light cream sauce. Massive amount of mussels and we spooned all of the sauce. Typical Americans, we left nothing. Came with delicious fries and my wife added a salad. A couple Omer blonds were very tasty. The service was great. When we said we needed help with the menu, server joked, "call 911". After his mussels recommendation, we told him, 911 wouldn't have been able to do better. Ambiance was lovely. A real gift for our first evening in Brugge. read more

We were looking for a great dinner place and saw wonderful review but unfortunately they were all booked on Saturday. Luckily they accommodated our dinner reservation for Sunday for 4 people and I have to say it was our best meal in Bruges! We got an appetizer to start with an order of Roquefort mussels and they big, tender and delicious. Maybe the best mussels we have ever had. We also had wonderful local beer. The owner brought out a little cup of olives and salami to start before the mussels, very nice touch. We all loved our meals as they were presented beautifully (o forgot to take pictures because I couldn't wait to eat my meal!!) and the timing was perfect. I had the seafood stew which consisted of 3 fish, rice and more mussels! It was wonderful. Husband had salmon with mashed potatoes in a light sauce, wonderful. Our friends had the lamp chops with mashed potatoes and green beans and the beef stew with frites, all amazing. We had no room for dessert but everyone loved the food and the service. It is owned and run by Kennedy and his family and he made us feel like we were special and anticipated our needs--we never felt like we were not taken care of and the meals were all a work of art. Some hits and misses here. The mussels were delicious. I generally haven't been that impressed with mussels in Belgium compared to home but these were very good. The croquettes were meh as was the steak. The first one they served us was impossible to cut and we actually sent it back and the waiter was very gracious which I appreciated because we never do that. The second steak was better but have had much better steaks in France. Thought Belgium would be similar. A friend got the fish stew and he said it wasn't what he expected but was still good. read more

My wife and I ate here twice for dinner in our week in Brugge. The reason this restaurant was our only repeat dinner was the food quality Flemish food and very friendly staff. Price points are the same for typical Flemish meals in the old city of Brugge so choice comes down to quality and service. Although it is adjacent to the river, the interior of the restaurant has an intimate setting which makes it seem separate from the many people walking along the street or small square. Mussels were tried both with white wine and garlic and both were excellent. Flemish stew was tender chunks of beef. Pour down with a glass of Jupiler beer. Yum, ow that is a meal! read more

I'd normally say this place is as overpriced but in reality it's priced appropriately for Bruges. What makes this place top notch is the service. Rare to have such an attentive and service focused team to greet snd serve you. They were all fantastic. And from what we hear, that's not common here. We were walking thbrough the city and stumbled upon a square with many outdoor restaurants. My sweetie aimed for this place since it was not in the direct sun. I did not pay much attention to the fact that it was the only one of several that had no customers. It was around noon time. We ordered some beers, and I decided we could snack on something. Perhaps some mussels since we were in Belgium after all. I thought one order would be good for the three of us. But the waiter made a snide comment so we ordered two, one with garlic, one with white wine. And I guess it was a good thing. A little while later a couple sat at another table. They only wanted drinks and were promptly refused service and sent away. Why would you send away paying customers when the place was empty! And a beer was 6 Euro. At our local place here you pay 2 Euro for the same amount. The mussels were ok as mussels are. The garlic ones had some flavor, the white wine one little. I've had lots of mussels, most with a lovely broth, be it wine, garlic, lemongrass, curry, you name it. These were ok and overpriced. And I think we got one slight smile out of our waiter when we left him a tip. read more

This place has a lot of competition right next to it - right down to nearly identical menus and prices. It was a smiling young waiter/host who remembered us from earlier in the day that helped us decide. Their service and food was excellent. We had the fried rice with prawns and the Flemish-style beef stew. As we looked around, this place was doing far more business than it's competitors. There's a reason for that - attention to detail. Excellent dinner all around. Very friendly staff greeted us at the door. We had a reservation so we were given the impression that they expected us. (Definitely make a reservation - it's a small place and even on a Monday was extremely busy.) We started with the mussels which were much better than the mussels we'd had the night before. Bruges is full of restaurants that serve mussels and frites, but these were maybe the best we'd ever had. I had the rack of lamb which was well flavored, tender, and a good portion without being too filling. My wife had the Flemish stew which was extremely tender - like a perfect pot roast.
