I went to their store to take advantage of an ad they sent me that…read moresaid they would pay off our phones if less than 800 each owed and give us service for about half the cost of my service now. They activated our lines for 74.20 then told me I had to payoff the phones myself and then give me the accounts with payoff so they could reimburse me sometime down the line with visa gift cards for the amount. No timeline on how long it would take. When I told them that is not the deal advertised they wouldn't transfer the refund 74.20 back to me that I had to call the customer service number. After 25 days and 3 phone calls the last one told me the truth. That they were not refunding the activation fee. These lines were never put on usage for even 10 seconds! Their customer service blatantly lied to me twice about refunding the fee.

Paducah Power employees are poorly trained and have trouble with the most simple of requests. I…read morerequested PPS to change power into my name from my tenant's name and gave them credit card information. The next business day, my tenant came home at night to a dark cold house. Attempting to get power turned back on, we had to stay on the phone for over an hour and 20 minutes speaking to an associate who then had to talk to a supervisor who then had to talk to another supervisor only to be told they would not accommodate the request after hours. Astonishingly, PPS ultimately refused to turn power back on in the middle of winter and the tenant had to leave his home that night where he had lived and faithfully paid his electric bill for over a year and a half and go stay in a hotel. My tenant related that this happened once before over a misunderstanding about a bill, which in fact had been paid up to date. I've related this story to a couple of people and have since heard similar experiences of other deplorable situations caused by Paducah Power. Paducah Power's lack of notice to turn off power in the middle of winter is a probable law suit waiting to happen due to health-safety issues and damage to homes. Adding insult to injury, Paducah Power's home web page has a marketing video to make customers feel good about their "Dedication to Service." The video begins by comparing their electricity service to the "Power of the Lord" and ends by telling customers PPS's service is a "Blessing." All I can say is "Wow!" Paducah Power is absolutely not interested in customer service. They are willing to put people out on the street with no power before they are willing work one minute after normal hours even to resolve their own mistakes. Paducah Power's bureaucracy and poor customer service characterize the unfortunate fact that nobody has a choice while living in many areas of Paducah. The problem is bigger than any single employee. The problem is managerial, systemic, and permeates the entire culture of the organization. The board of directors should reflect seriously about the quality of the management team.
