The Bushman, The Stockman, and The Bajaman

My wife and I recently visited Taco Medic for a quick lunch. We ordered The Bushman, The Stockman, and The Bajaman Tacos. The Bushman was filled with tender succulent pork brushed with a sweet honey and topped with crisp cabbage. The Stockman was filled with juicy marinated beef and topped with creamy chipotle sauce, crisp cabbage and onions. My wife ate The Bajaman so I didn't get a chance to try it but she enjoyed this fried fish taco. Flavorful hot sauces were also available for an additional kick. Taco Medic is a quality spot for a quick bite to eat.

    Excellent tacos!

This small location (few stools inside) serves up some great, memorable tacos and has a friendly staff. The tortillas are made in-house (they are very good!). I had the Veggie taco and my husband had a Breakfast Taco and another one he really enjoyed (can't recall which one it was). Three salsas were available in squeeze bottles on the counter - add to taste. I will definitely go back if I am in the area.

I am 65. Been eating tacos all over the world as a flight attendant for forty years. These were among the top five ever. Absolutely fresh crisp veggies, fish fried to perfection, delicious braised beef, and three incredible sauces to choose from. With a Corona, I downed two tacos. So perfectly delicious, I ordered one more to eat since my brother arrived a bit late. Two was very filling and generous in size, but I was addicted at this point. Bonus... Locally owned by a great young man from down south in Dunedin. The other young men were friendly, good humor and good service. Would I go back? In a heartbeat! Well done Anthony and crew. Muy zabroza....napakasarap...onolicious. Perfection in a soft taco shell.

Nestled in an empty parking lot on the road into town from Coronet you'll find this epic taco truck run by a coupley Dunedin lads with passion for Mexican food. Word of these delicious tacos made it all the way up to Auckland so when I arrived in QT this was my first stop. Owners, James & Ant were working in the truck when I went and we got chatting. They tell me it was when they were traveling through Mexico that they fell in love with tacos and conjured up their plan to start the truck. A couple of months later they returned home, built the truck, sourced the finest, local produce and started churning out homemade tacos with a kiwi twist. James and Ant make everything from scratch, from their hot sauces (there's currently three of them) to their traditional masa tortillas. It's pretty impressive considering they serve their tacos by day at Bowen St (Mon - Sat) and by night (Fri/Sat) in town at Breacon St. Where they find the time, I do not know! Anyway back to the tacos. I tried both their vegetarian taco, The Producer and their pork belly taco, The Bushman. Both were on the money. Their pork belly is slow roasted for 7 hours in manuka honey glaze and then served with a crunchy apple slaw, sweet onion reduction and topped with fresh coriander and crackling. It's melt-in-your-mouth good, but somehow the vegetarian taco topped it. I'm not sure how they cook their black beans but they're damn tasty and pair perfectly with the roasted pumpkin and goats feta. To be honest, I think you'd struggle to order poorly. Price-wise, I thought the tacos were a generous size for $7. We're shared three between two and that was plenty for some pretty hungry chicas. My only regret was that I only went once when I down. Just as well i'm heading back in December...

Absolutely love this little taco truck! It's very cheap, $7NZ for one taco, and each taco is full of so much flavor! I got the crunchy chicken, which was delicious albeit a little too short on the actual chicken for my liking. The brisket, on the other hand, was full of meat and tasted so fresh. They even let it bake for over 24 hours - I would definitely recommend it! The truck was so good we almost went out of our way to come back before leaving NZ, but unfortunately because we were running late we weren't able to. I really wanted to try more of their different tacos - it's a good thing I have great taco trucks at home or else I'd be craving them forever!

Yum!!! I only had one but wow weee so yummy! Love the little food truck/van hard to believe such food can come out of such a truck! Lots of fresh bold flavours & big portions which is great for 7 bucks a pop! Service was awesome, very friendly :) I want more...

Tucked down a pedestrian alley, this place has pretty decent tacos. I ordered 3 tacos, but they messed up my ordered so I ended up with 4, but they noticed the error and quickly corrected. The shells are a bit crunchy which is nice. The flavors are good and there are extra hot sauces available. It was a bit heavy on the cabbage for me, but I would recommend for a decent taco place in Queenstown where you can order as many or as few tacos as you'd like. I probably could have had 2 tacos and been satisfied.

Spotted this food truck/van whilst i was going up and down the street trying to find parking for the Skyline Gondola and made a mental note to drop by after. The lad manning the truck was very friendly. It was a less than 10min wait for both the table and tacos. Very fresh ingredients and bold flavours. Enjoyable and worth to eat 1 for a snack, or 2 for a meal.

It's good to be a local here. This is the best taco spot I've been to in the entire south island. It definitely is different to tacos back at home in southern California but I'm happy! I've been coming here since they were just a little pop up place without any inside seating, circa 2016. Thanks guys!!

Amazing tacos, especially the blackened fish.

Your first thought for grabbing a bite to eat in beautiful Queenstown NZ might not be tacos, but thanks to Taco Medic, it probably should be. The fresh fish tacos were outstanding, and you can order the blackened which I highly recommend. The taco was topped with just the right amount of a great sauce as well. The place itself is kind of hidden in an alley between Mall Street and Church Street. The staff were very helpful and nice, and when they heard our foreign accents, immediately struck up conversation with us. Can't recommend this spot enough!

We needed somewhere to go that was convenient, inexpensive and could keep our 7 year old twin daughters entertained and occupied. The answer, of course, was McDonalds! Location was convenient, food was economical, menu items were familiar and they had an indoor play structure (which is hard to come by - at least in Hawaii - nowadays)!!! So, why bother writing a review for a McDonalds (and a 4 star review at that)? Because, in addition to the amenities (play structure, TV with a kid's movie playing, clean interior, ample seating, clean bathrooms, McCafe, self-serve kiosks, menu items you don't normally have at home, etc.), this was, by far, the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE we have ever had at a McDonalds or any other casual dining restaurant . . . EVER! The manager's name was Shaney. So, I don't know if this was just a Shaney thing or a New Zealand thing or what, but Shaney needs to stop managering and start training restaurant workers on exemplary customer service. First, they brought your order to your table. Also, they asked what drinks you want and offer to go fill them for you. Then, they come by and check on you a couple times to see how you are doing (like a sit-down restaurant, not a fast food place). The manager also made sure to check in with the girls (not just the grown ups) and gave them a couple high-fives as they played. We asked her if this was typical McDonalds behavior because it is definitely not what we are used to at home. She was sincere in wanting the customers to feel welcome and to enjoy their stay . . . WHAT?!?!?! Needless to say, we easily and happily spent our morning here and were well fed and well rested for our long flight home.

Queenstown is very expensive and the large mochaccinos at Starbucks were almost $8 NZD. I kept walking and stopped at McDonalds in the town center. I ordered a large mochaccino for $5 NZD in the McCafe on top of McDonalds. They actually ground the beans and made it fresh! It's amazing. I can't believe that this came from McDonalds!! Great service and nice view of street life!!

If you come to Te Anau in the spring as we did, you'd find that fewer numbers of the local eateries are open as there would be in the summer. We came to check out the Tip Top scoop selections and at the menu at this local dairy. Turns out it's not bad. They do have a pretty good Tip Top ice cream selection and while we enjoyed our cones one evening we noticed that a good number of people stopped in for take out (or as the New Zealanders say take aways). The next night we decided to give it a try. We ordered stir fry vegetables ($12 NZ), the special noodles ($14 NZ), and seaweed soup ($4 NZ). The owner is a couple with their young children. While we waited we watched numbers of people come in and pick up take out. Most of them got fried chicken or fish and chips. Some were obviously locals that were greeted warmly. Don't get me wrong, we were treated very well. As it is not a full restaurant, they don't have hot tea or drinks aside from those in the coolers. As such the rather lightly flavored soup served as a hot drink. There were good bits of seaweed, some carrots, and egg drop to make it interesting. The noodles were special perhaps because it had slices of BBQ pork, chicken, and imitation crab stick. The sauce was fine. The stir fry vegetable dish had broccoli, cauliflower, onion, carrots, and celery. Nothing special, the pieces were a too big, but after too many meals with chips as sides this was a really nice change. This place doesn't serve amazing Chinese food. Someone else will have to comment on the fish and chips and fried chicken, but it is a nice neighborhood place. The Chinese food is fine and the price is right. You can get ice cream for dessert!
