I LOVE TACO TICO!!! It's so hard to find one these days. I grew up and took for granted that Taco Tico wouldn't always be around. I was so delightfully surprised to find this one! The beef enchiladas are still the same! I absolutely love them. They were served nice and hot too. The taco burger did not disappoint--just like I remember. I tried something new--a wonton taco (fried wonton wrapper, chicken, slaw, sweet chili sauce) and it was delicious. I plan on one more visit before my vaca is over! read more

Taco Tico I was truly excited that when I saw that you reopened again of course it's been several years that this has happened. During these times I have came to your place and ate there and seemed okay. This in particular time I have to tell you I don't know what you did to your meet but it is disgusting please put it back the way it's supposed to be to the original Taco Tico possible. This Taco Tico is why we chose to stay in Topeka as the last stop on our Western road trip before heading home. As all Taco Tico fans know there are only a few of these stores left in the United States. We grew up with these in NW Arkansas but they have all since closed. The closest one to us at home is in Claremore, OK about 2 hours away. So when we knew our travels would bring us near Topeka we made sure we planned our route accordingly. We got all of our favorites: stacked enchiladas, double beef enchiladas, taco burgers, tacos, and a combo burrito. And tons of green chili sauce to slather all over it. It is the best!! Only the drive thru was open, but the service was quick and very friendly. Got our food and took it back to our hotel that was about 2 miles away. Everything was super fresh and had the signature Taco Tico flavors to give us our fix. It was a perfect way to end our trip. So. Freaking. Good. We will definitely come back next time we are close. :) read more

I grew up eating at a Taco Tico several Saturdays a month, and it will always have a special place in my heart. No matter how good any cheap,fast Mexican food is I find somewhere else, it will never be the same as eating Taco Tico. If you are not familiar with it, think of Taco Bell (walk up to order, packaging of good, prices (although Taco Tico might be a bit cheaper, etc...), but with more of a home type atmosphere and spirit. I was a regular at this location when I lived in Topeka for 9 years. At the time, it was not a great place stay and eat. The restrooms were horrid and the dinning area was not exactly clean or cozy. But...the drive through was always quick, accurate, and friendly. Shortly after I moved to the KC area three years ago, it was shut down (just a coincidence, I'm sure), and a trendy coffee shop moved in. About a month ago I read online that the Taco Tico at 17th and Fairlawn was reopening. Even though I am now in KC, I was excited. I found out that the owner of different location had purchased the building to bring a Taco Tico to that location. I posted my excitement on Facebook and within minutes a friend's husband expressed his shared excitement. Like for me, Taco Tico was a fond childhood memory. Within the month we load up our families and headed to Topeka for lunch! The furniture and style left over from the trendy coffee shop was perfect for the new Taco Tico! The restaurant was clean and the service was decent. With all of the different things our party of 6 ordered, there were no mistakes. I ordered one each of all my favorites...taco (with sour cream), sancho (pretty much the contents of taco rolled up in a flour sheet like a burrito), bean and cheese burrito, cheese and beef enchilada, and an order of Crustos (frie flour tortilla triangles coated with LOTS of sugar and cinnamon. Disclaimer: I knew I wouldn't be able to eat all of this! However, I knew I would be back for a while so I didn't want to leave anything out. Each item, are about the size of the items you would get at Taco Bell, so it's no like there was that much food left over. And it was cheap enough. We have decided to make a quarterly trip to Topeka for Taco Tico. I already know that I am going to order next time. One of each! read more

Born & raised in a town with only a Taco Tico, This location is grubby, they need to remodel badly. The food is still yummy though! The drive through experience would probably ease the phobia issues greatly! There is one on the South side of town that is awesome, always clean & dependable. I hit it when it's convenient when I am traveling through. read more
