I have heard that Tacos el Poblano is one of the two top taco joints in town and is the perfect spot for your classic Al pastor taco. Stopped by for a quick bite to find a no frills environment with ample seating and great service. The place is very clean and the side vegetables provided for just a few tacos are quite generous. Ordered 3 tacos and here's their ranking from my most to least favorite: - Grilled shrimp: shrimp tastes properly grilled with a nice charred flavor and there's a generous portion of shrimp on the taco. - Al pastor: very flavorful and the ingredients all mix well together with the soft cut of pork. - Asada: lots of carne asada to go around, but the meat was slightly tougher than the pork in the Al pastor taco. Note that all tacos come with a generous serving of guacamole, which is certainly a huge plus for the establishment! You also get to have a personal serving of cucumbers, radishes, lime, and a green chili sauce to go hand in hand with your tacos and you can go up to the front to fix yourself a side plate of some grilled sweet and spicy peppers, which were truly perfect. I went with a large group, we took up two tables. Everything was authentic and delicious! Our server was a rock star, she took care of everything. The food was so good, that I returned 2 days later and got two of their meat plates to go, it fed 13 people! I will go here on every future visit to Todos Santos. I came to Mexico last week, and during our free time, we came here. Everything was incredible. Our group sampled everything from the papa rellena, the beef, tripe, pork, and everything in between, and these tacos were incredible. The place can get busy and loud, and sometimes they're not the fastest in getting your order in. The horchata was a deliciously cold way to wash down the food. Once you get past the noise and the busyness, this is a fantastic place to eat lunch with. I would genuinely come here again. The beef tacos were the standout dishes. If you're ever in Baja California and you miss out here, you're missing out. I also had a tostada, but it tasted like it was cooked for a little too long, but definitely worth the hype. 4.5 stars. read more

My spouse is Mexican and grew up on tacos. We have authored a cookbook on Mexican cuisine. Order any version you like, then STAY OUT OF THE WAY OF THE CHEF. He is friendly but works at lightning speed with unrivaled accuracy. While we were there a fellow US visitor started using his mis en place like a taco bar. He shot this idiot a look like a total pro, and the idiot sauntered back to his table. That kind of forgiveness is what makes Mexico and its people the most forgiving to our ignorance. This chef's operation is remarkable. This place is usually only open late afternoon/evening. I've had their pastor as well as Asada tacos, both were good but the pastor is hands down better. It's not the best taco place in town but definitely good. Or bring a beer or two from the market across the street. First night in town we ordered six tacos, three asada & three pastor. Server recommended corn tortillas for the pastor and flour for the asada, so that's how we rolled. She was right. Tortillas are handmade, meat is piled high, and tacos are topped with the usual onions & cilantro plus a heaping of guacamole. All types of juicy messy goodness. Also they bring out a plate of salsa, radishes, and cucumbers to have with your meal, and the radishes were amazing. A building heat that almost gets up in your nasal passages like wasabi. Tacos el Poblano is legit on my list of best tacos I have ever eaten (ESPECIALLY considering how cheap they are!!!). We ate here twice during our short trip to Todos Santos and had zero regrets about it. The jamaica agua fresca was also delicious and not too sweet like it can be in the states. If you want a beer you can just walk across the street and buy some from the shop on the cheap too. Favorite was the carne asada taco with flour tortillas but the al pastor gets a shout out too for being crispy and flavorful. The food is excellent. Perfect tacos Al pastor or tacos with carne asada. It's in a cute, open air palapa and the tortillas are prepared hot to order. The beverage choices are soda of various types, and you can bring your own beer (which folks buy at the mini-mart across the street). This is street tacos down right and highly recommended. We ordered a half order of both types and it was plenty of food for our family of four (including two teenagers) and we had enough leftover to eat for breakfast the next day. Our meat and tortillas were served with a platter of salsas, guacamole, radishes and other garnishes. The only problem is that word is out that this place is great and there are only five or six table. So a big crowd of (mostly unmasked) tourists congregates directly out front (just a few feet from people dining) and this feels a bit unsafe. Oh! HOLY COW! Without a doubt the best tacos I've ever had. So much so that during my three night stay in TS I ate these tacos three times. Also, one of the times was after I had already eaten tacos for lunch at another place but couldn't resist lunch #2 while we passed it on our walk back. It's all about the Al Pastor... they cook everything right out in the open and couldn't be nicer. Also, take a look at the menu prices, they can't be beat(they're in Pesos btw). You grab a seat at one of the many plastic tables which are located on a covered street front patio. They have a case with sodas and soft drinks for sale. The friendly man working told us that while he doesn't sell beers, we could go right across the street to the market, buy beers, bring them back and he'd open them for us.
