Given the abundance of great steak houses in Hermosillo, it's incredible that this restaurant would cost this much. They took a rather deceptive approach in there menu charging per weight and their up-charging approach in billing; taking advantage of tourists is deplorable. Never coming back.

My favorite of all the delicious plates is the chamorro, oven baked lamb shank which is so tender it just falls apart from the bone. It is juicy and decently spicy, and is my reference -- exactly here in this small village -- compared to any other I have tasted in the Americas continent. The menu includes a good variety of local food and drinks. You can enjoy also the cazuela cocktail, a generous serving of fruit-based luquids and tequila mix. There is live music performed on Saturday and Sunday afternoons around 2pm, making this place the spot to relax over an excellent quality food.

The place has a very good wine selection, an impressive tequila and mezcal selection and very friendly staff. If you become a regular at Farallón, you even get a personalized wine glass that will only be used by you every time you visit! The quality of the food speaks for itself. My personal favorites are: -Callo de hacha (scallops) -Aguachile de camarón (raw shrimp in lemon & chili) -Shrimp with hibiscus sauce -Roca shrimp The restaurant also serves sushi! The decor outside is quite plain but clean with heavily tinted glass making you wonder if the place was open for business. Once you go inside, the decor is modern with a combination of chairs and booths. There is a large selection of wine in a big glass display case next to the bar. There is some accent lighting that breaks a moderately dimly lit place for added mood. The place feels large, open and spacious. I came here at night with co-workers on a business trip. We tried a sampler appetizer that included large shrimp, chopped octopus, large raw scallops, avocado, and cucumber. There is a dipping sauce that the waiter prepares at your table made of lime juice, spices, and a special blend chili sauce. There are other condiments on the table for you to blend your own sauce to your liking. The seafood sampler was fresh and delicious. There was also the complimentary chips that came with delicious smokey chipotle flavored salsa. For entree I ordered a white fish topped with prawn on a bed of rice and miso based sauce. The sauce I found to be a little overly sweet but overall the fish and prawn was cooked perfectly and the presentation was excellent. My coworkers also enjoyed their salmon and shrimp plates. We also shared a seafood rice which was tasty. Overall I have to say the seafood was fresh and flavor was good. The only odd thing I found was the strange selection of 80's music blaring in the background that contrasted with the modern theme. I had a tough time hearing what my co-workers were saying and a bit distracted with images of Karate Kid 2 when Peter Cetera's Glory of Love played among many other Chicago hits. I like 80's music just as much as the next guy but it just didn't fit with the mood of the place. Good thing they serve great seafood. This is an in between place when I'm not in the mood for the small plates/ finer dining approach or in the mood for street food (tacos/burros etc.) For me it's usually a soup or soup and another item. This visit was a tastey cup of pozole and a chimichanga, which is the true 'deep fried burrito'. Many Chimichanga are way too big, this one was a more modest size. If you are in the northern hotel zone, it's maybe a 45 minute walk or a quick ride. There is an entry door on both Yanez(busy big street) and Pacheco, small street. Parking is on the Pacheco street side, and I forget which one way street go which way so careful going around the block. Near the landmark 'Templo Guadalupana Catholic church, known for the quickest Masses in town". Chile en Nogada , available probably in the fall, is a very traditional central Mexico dish not widely available in this part of the country. A foodie bucket list item.

What a truly amazing experience. The location is easy to find as it's off a main thoroughfare. The atmosphere is elegant but not stuffy, a modern touch with nice low lighting and well spaced tables. The service is outstanding, truly professional waiters. Juan Carlos was our waiter. He was attentive and offered great suggestions. Armando was another waiter who impressed me as he was ensuring every wineglass was spotless. Restaurants in Mexico offer a purse stand that is nice and classy for women to hang their purse. Now to the main event, the food! My wife with her small appetite, ordered the shrimp bathed in a sweet tamarind sauce which she loved and enjoyed. She had the tequila Don Julio 70 served (a las banderitas) accompanied by sangrita and lemon juice which represent the colors of the Mexican flag.
