Stopped by for lunch since I was near the beach and it was a pleasant experience. I was a little weary due to the menu looking a little sparse. But I prefer it when a place has less to choose from because it generally means that whatever they have to offer is good and you can't really go wrong with any choice. I got the street tacos for $11 and it was 3 tacos for $11....They were okay. I loved how the tortillas were slightly fried giving it a crunchy texture but it was still able to fold as you try and smoosh everything into your mouth. The only thing is that some of the meats that I had were over cooked so it made it a little too chewy. I also would have liked to see some chips and salsa or some drinks like horchata or just some extra hot sauces on the table. ~~Parking: I was staying close by, so I was there within walking distance but they do have street parking available. It's the shared beach parking, so it can be difficult to find parking depending on the time you arrive. ~~Service: Good. The moment my friend and I decided to go in was of course when there were like 3 other parties that decided to eat here as well and walked in while I was reading the menu outside. So it took a while with only one cashier, but it was fine. ~~Best Part: They have 2 tables outside where you can see the beach and smell the fresh air. They accept credit card. ~~Worst Part: Would probably be parking (If I wasn't staying at a place nearby it's most likely what I would have disliked. Located right in the middle of Capitola Village, you'll be seeing a lot of tourists and locals walking all around this area. With COVID currently ongoing, the inside was quite barren but everyone was enjoying their meals outside in the backyard lot. They have your typical burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and nachos at this location so being it my first time trying here, I decided to try the shrimp taco and a super carne asada nachos (the shrimp taco was recommended by a local here). Wait time was not too bad and you also have the option to sit in the front outdoor seating area too to enjoy people watching throughout the afternoon. The shrimp street nachos were perfect, not dry, and dressed with a nice sauce and cabbage beneath inside a corn tortilla. I could have just ordered 2 plates of shrimp and fish tacos and gone with my day! The super nachos I also ordered to share was basic with what it was for toppings but I don't know why, maybe it was because I was just hungry but the nachos here were spectacular. Chips were fried and lightly crisp, sprinkled with a carne asada bits, and pickled jalepeno peppers and mozzarella cheese. This is something anyone could have easily make at home yet it tasted amazing for lunch. This visit was a spontaneous visit but it was definitely a visit that I'd remember to come back to visit once more. For a touristy Mexican spot, Tacos Moreno is well worth a stop to enjoy some delicious Mexican food. I would highly recommend this spot to others to try. read more

Everything is excellent here! The original Tacos Morenos is my favorite authentic Mexican food restaurant on this planet! The stores are very similar, but this location has an excellent shrimp burrito and larger establishment. I LOVE the supreme carnitas burritos, quesadillas & everything else I've tried. I tried this spot since it's located on the beach and centralized near many shops. Being new to the area, I saw many people sitting on the patio, so I figured it was good. We walked into the restaurant, and it was not inviting; we had to place our order at the register upon entry. We weren't given a menu or suggested anything. We were taken onto the patio, and the tables and chairs were dirty. I immediately noticed the patio filled with people linked to a neighboring restaurant. Our food was bland and lacked taste. I asked for a side of rice, and it tasted old, almost as if it was rewarmed from the previous day. They refer to their beans as refried but served whole. If you want a drink, you choose one out of the fridge, and you get it yourself. The waitress was friendly, and the salsa was good, but after paying almost $76 for bean/cheese burritos and two tacos, it fell short. I understand most of the attraction is likely location, but I was looking forward to authentic Mexican food, which I don't think is the case for this location. We did have company with our meal which I personally didn't mind. I'm also alarmed after reviewing their recent health inspection. We were at this restaurant shortly after. Stopped by here a few days ago with one of my friends. The interior is small but clean and the location is good. I ordered the vegetarian burrito sub cheese to make it vegan. It was very good. There was lots of flavor and texture which I enjoyed. It was also quite big. You could definitely share it with someone if you want to. The only thing I didn't like about the burrito was the guacamole. It had a weird aftertaste. It tasted like the cheap guac that they sell at grocery stores. That, however, was my only complaint. I am happy that this taqueria has vegan options as some do not. I will be back if I want a good vegan burrito while in the Capitola Village. I will just pass on the guac next time. read more

You know what makes the iconic Capitola beach front view better than it already is? These AWESOME authentic street tacos! I grew up in San Jose chowing down on all the amazing Taquerias in San Jose, CA and the Al Pastor and Asada tacos here were just as good. Well seasoned Asada and the Al Pastor was well flavored. Just don't go there. The food is extremely bad. First, they brought the chips & salsa. It is soaked in oil and looks very dark. My guess the oil is very used. Then the salsa had no taste, not even tomato taste. We ordered tacos and they are also soaked in oil dripping from the tacos. Not only it tasted bad, but the tacos were super slippery. Yes, that much oil on the tacos. We also got fooled thinking the beach terrace was theirs. But it is for Zelda. Only after ordering our food, we found out they have only 3 tiny tables outside next to 2 dumpsters. Wow! Just wow. We are currently here eating here, and the entire family (kids included) are thoroughly enjoying this restaurant! We have a front-view scene of the ocean while enjoying this oh-so delicious food. The fish plate special is absolutely enormous, beautiful and beyond tasty. Skip it! I ordered a taco salad and asked for the good green sauce and the cashier said ok no problem. I also ordered a carnitas burrito, a Jarritos and chips. That's was $30! No not cheap. The inside of the place is a mess and looks like a storage room. Then we get a table outside on these weird tables by garbage cans. They brought out our food and I asked for the green salsa and the lady said they were out. I asked had they been out all day and she said yes. Came on a Sunday evening, yesterday. Ordered 2 chicken super burritos, chaser was super nice and helpful. Asked if it with chips and salsa, said yes. Asked if he our order could be spicy hot, like hot hot, can you add hotness to the food, his answer of course. We waited outside since it's covid times. 15 minutes later he brought our food out. The tortilla was really good along with the beans, no chips, a tiny little 1 oz cup of no heat, little flavor salsa, no cheese guacamole in the burrito, no heat either. The lousiest Mexican food i ever had! Beside the very thick wrapper of Burrito, Al pastor tasted nothing like AL pastor.
