The best al pastor (marinated pork) with pineapple tacos in the Valley and the owner is adorable!

We placed an order for pickup from the Yakima location. Apparently the location is permanently…read moreclosed. The order went to the Pasco location. When we tried to contact them using the phone number on the Yelp website no one answered. We contacted Yelp/GrubHub and they told us that they would not provide a refund because the order was already being prepared. This is clearly a case of the company having false information posted on their website, and not being willing to correct their error. They are fraudulently taking my money. This is stealing. Update: we contacted the online support and they refunded us.

What good fortune to find this food truck at Bale Breakers. Their usual set up is across town,…read moreover a half hour away from where we live. The Pad Thai is on point. I would order every time except I want to try their curries. We went a second time hoping for curry, but the menu was Japanese focus and we ended up with Tonkotsu Ramen and Pork Katsu with Rice. Both were delicious. I hope to get the Mussaman Curry on a future visit and if it's a no go, it won't break my heart to order the Pad Thai. My only knock - The provided plastic forks and spoons are flimsy and there are no knives. We bring our own flatware and in the case of the Ramen, the table knife was a blessing to cut up the generous slices of meat. The provided ramen bowl does not bode well for cutting the meat and we used the inside lid of the potstickers for cutting. Please Aunty Jam's, keep coming to Bale Breakers!

This isn't some trendy stop or overhyped roadside thing. It's just really, really good food made by people who clearly care about what they're doing. We ordered the lunch plates and ended up sitting next to Mr. Hernandez himself. We got to hear about how he started the place because he genuinely loved working with masa, and how that slowly turned into winning a James Beard America's Classics award. Nothing flashy about it -- just years of doing it right. Knowing that story while eating the food made it feel even more special. The rice was fluffy and deeply seasoned -- not an afterthought. The homemade pinto beans were tender but still held their shape, topped with pico that added exactly the right acidity and freshness to balance the plate. Then the tamales -- jalapeño & cheese and pork. He spoke highly of the masa, and you could immediately tell why. The texture was spot on: moist but structured, never dense. The filling-to-masa ratio was right where it should be. Every bite felt balanced. The salsas were bright and flavorful, but they enhanced rather than covered anything up. You didn't need to smother the tamales -- they stood on their own. The place itself is humble and unpretentious. Floral tablecloths, paper plates, simple seating. Exactly how it should be. You're there for the food and the people behind it. They sell fresh and frozen tamales at a few other locations too, which is honestly dangerous information to have. Absolutely worth the detour. Five stars without hesitation.
