First off let me start by saying Michael the photographer was great! Leading up to the wedding and the day of the wedding was absolutely great! We even had our engagement photos taken by Michael. We paid for both the engagement photos and the wedding photos all at once. We also paid for 2 albums, one for each of our mothers. After the honeymoon, my wife and I got in touch with Michael. Unfortunately, this is when Covid was just starting up and noone knew anything about it. We were informed that due to the albums being made overseas there was a delay. We were sent a link in the meantime to view some of our photos, as we hadn't seen them yet. Since then there was a bit of back and forth between Michael and my wife. Michael hasn't responded to either my wife or I for about a year now. We have both messaged and called him. We are still messaging and leaving him voicemails to this day. We are very disappointed as we paid just over $3k for the package we got. We got married towards the end of the year of 2019 and still have yet to receive anything(engagement photos, wedding photos, albums). It's very unfortunate, my wifes father walked her down the aisle and a couple months later he passed away. Those are some very cherished memories and some of the last photos we have of him. All we really want is the photos of that wonderful day and the albums for our families. read more

We hired TAG Photography (now Kinney Photography) to travel with us for 6 days to Croatia on a destination wedding trip. Per contract we were to receive our photos within 90 days after the wedding. After multiple emails and texts over a couple month period, we finally received our photos 146 days later. His response was very lengthy, emotionally unstable, extremely unprofessional, and ultimately lead to us feeling the need to leave this review. We were supposed to get photos from all 5 days (originally 6, but we didn't really count the first day) of the trip, but most all of them were only over a 3-day period. When we asked about providing pictures for the other days, he went off on us. We only received a total of 891 pictures for 5 days that included rehearsal, wedding day, and day after photos. Based on the photos we received, it was very apparent that he was more focused on building his portfolio than he was about capturing special candid moments. Michael did manage to capture some really great photos, however we felt that he spent more time trying to find poses that he could photoshop rather than spending time capturing a large amount of candid shots. When asking him about those candid moments, he told us that is what cell phone pictures from guests are for. Seriously??? We had a very small intimate wedding and told guests we would prefer that there wasn't a whole lot of cell phone usage. Within our communications with him, we would always refer back to the contract in order to keep it professional. In his last email response, he had the audacity to say, "Are you REALLY going to keep using the word CONTRACT? Seriously???" He also claimed that he "DOUBLED THE AMOUNT OF A NORMAL WEDDING." Our wedding wasn't "normal", as we had contracted his services for multiple days. Following his claim, we contacted 2 other destination wedding photographers who both said that they average a return of 700-900 wedding photos for just the wedding day. Without getting into the details on compensation, Michael claims we still owe him and that he wasn't paid, which is not true at all. In fact, we accidently over-compensated him, per contract, and he owes us some money back. Overall, we absolutely would not recommend Kinney Photography for the following reasons: 1. Michael was very unprofessional and emotional towards the end our experience. His emotions got in the way of his integrity and the last thing you want to stress about is not getting your photos. In which was/is the case with this company. He posted OUR photo on his social media site but didn't let us have that photo in our wedding portfolio. Listen to the reviews, we wish we would have. 2. We felt that Michael was dishonest and didn't start working on our photos until we contacted him multiple times. The last time we contacted him, we mentioned meeting with an attorney, and then all of a sudden, we received pictures. It shouldn't take nearly 5 months to receive wedding photos and stress of not receiving your photos, especially a destination wedding, is something no bride wants to deal with. 3. Many of the veils are photoshopped into the pictures. Although this can be a nice touch, we weren't given any options of different poses (with and without a veil) and the same veils are used in many other bride photos, taking away from the uniqueness and personalization of our special day. The same goes for other pictures. We mostly received one photo in each different setting. In most of our photos, Michael had us posing the exact same way. 4. We feel like we didn't receive a lot of photos for 5 days of photography and 5 months to receive them. 5. POOR communication!!! We will never do business again with Kinney/TAG Photography, nor would we recommend him to anyone. There are too many other good photographers out there that won't put you through the hassle that Michael has put us through. read more

We had a few photography sessions and Michael's knowledge of light and how to capture the moment was simply amazing. He also had a way to explain what he needed without making anyone uncomfortable. Michael shot photos of our wedding June 20, 2014 and they were BEAUTIFUL! Michael's professionalism throughout the entire process combined with his natural eye for uniquely beautiful photography made for such a perfect experience. Tag Photography (Michael Kinney) was referred to me for my wedding from a coworker. He definitely was not my first choice, but for the price I went with him. He took our engagement photos, which I was moderately pleased with. On the wedding day he showed up on time ready to go, which was great. Though I was very disappointed in the fact that he was having my guests hold lighting equipment and act as his assistant. I felt like this was very unprofessional. Our wedding was at the end of August, and by mid November I get an email from him saying that our photos will be ready shortly. A few weeks later he sends us the photos (which were good, but not great) but they were missing all of our family photos and all of the photos of me with my bridesmaids. I asked Michael where they were and he apologized and said he cannot believe he forgot them and will get them to us ASAP. A few weeks go by and no word. I email him asking where they are and he comes clean saying they are gone, and offers me a pathetic compensation of a wedding album. I tell him that will not work, and he tells me he will purchase a retrieval program and hopefully that works, which he should have done in the first place before offering compensation. Another few weeks go by and no word, so again I email him. Long story short, the photos are gone. We then start discussing compensation. He was pushing free photo sessions which would not work for us, as we no longer live in Washington. He then offers us $160, when we paid $1600! This was insulting! I do not have one photo with my mother, grandmother, god parents, in laws, or bridesmaids. I was very upset and had my husband talk to him. He then proceeds to tell my husband that he can't even give us the $160 he had offered me, and if he does he will not be able to feed his family. What was my husband suppose to say to that?! I felt like him saying that was very unprofessional, and basically a guilt trip. As a business owner he should have an account set aside for emergencies like this. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. read more
