This event space is in an older (1980s?) style strip office center…read more So first the good; * It is easily accessible from I-20, beig one block from the expressway. *There is a fullsize refrigerator, and kitchen-bar area. *There is a small loft area that is suitable for a DJ. * One mirrored wall makes this small space seem bigger. * As it's in an office strip center, parking is free and easy. *The walls are at least twenty feet high, with plenty of room for decorating. Now the cons; **For an event space, it's an odd shape, long and narrow. ** The industrial heaters and rafters hanging 20 feet up cant be hidden easily. So if you are hoping to completely camouflage the interior, you'll have a tough time. **The walls are cinderblock and painted in a light color.This makes the drabness stand out. The owners should paint the entire interior black (or white). There are multiple colors going up the wall that make it look like a workshop or oil change place (which I think it was). ** The back has an overhead, garage style door that needs to be covered. ** Is there heat or air conditioning? When I was there, the front door was kept open, so I cant be sure. Make sure to ask when inquiring. ** NARROW!!! You enter into a small front room, then a narrow hallway, then a kitchen/bar area on the right, and stairs to the loft on your left. It makes the area very crowded.

I am the school director of a local school in the area of MTG. Year 2014, my staff and I decided to…read morehave our annual graduation at MTG. Ms. Dianne, the owner, informed m -- that we would be able to use the kitchen on the night of the graduation. However, on the night of graduation, I received a call from two of my staff who were terrified at Ms. Dianne's treatment of them. While trying to heat food, she rudely told them that the kitchen was not available. When I entered the building, Ms. Dianne made two attempts to argue with me about what she had promised. She spoke loudly, trying to provoke an argument with me. It was as if she did not even know who I was and what she had promised. To make things worst, Ms. Dianne also informed me that via text message -- the kitchen could be used. Further, she referred to my staff as "your posse". I was in disbelief but refused to argue back due to our graduation that was about to start. Anyone who lives in the south understands that her comments of "posse" is indicative of racist and violent language. Thought the overall venue is satisfactory, the treatment of Ms. Dianne towards me and my staff was unthinkable and thus, I and we NEVER use this facility again as a rental. We would also advise any person who is considering using MTG as a rental facility to use extreme caution for there are many sheep in wolves clothing. Thank you!

Pullman Yards is a collection of large warehouses that hold exhibits. When I was there (June 2026) there were two exhibits - the Serial Killer tour and a space exhibit. There's also a Brick and Mortar restaurant and a few little kiosks that sell stuff. There also appears to be a tent where other pop up events could take place. There's not much additional seating other than a few wooden benches. The Parking. $7 per hour in the Pullman Yards lot. You have to pay using a QR code. The lot is conveniently located (gravel) and they really pack the cars in. Apparently, they will ticket if you let your time run out so be sure to set an alarm on your phone to extend time if necessary. The Serial Killer Exhibit. The exhibit is comprised of 40 small rooms that you flow through and are divided up into different categories (female killers, American serial killers, investigative techniques, serial killers that killed in pairs, etc.). Each little room has between 1 - 8 different exhibits that give you basic information on the serial killer (some are famous like Ted Bundy and Son of Sam, while others are more obscure killers in other countries). The infromation if quite basic and you could get as much info from a google search (if you knew what to search for). Some of the exhibits have actual artifacts from the crime scene (although there are very few of those-- most have juror certifications from the killers' trials, drawings or letters written by the killers, etc. instead. There are a lot of exhibits that are not actual artifacts but items similar to something -- for example, "Here's a saw similar to the one Jeffrey Dahmer used to dismember his victims" or just mannequins dressed to like the killer. As someone who is pretty well versed in the topic of serial killers with a MCJ in Criminology, I was disappointed to see that most of the information of investigative techiniques and the studies on the differences between male and female serial killers and typologies was grossly oversimplified. If you don't know much about typologies and psychological aspects of serial killing, you might enjoy it as it is an okay entree into the subject. I was definitely disappointed in how dark it was inside. I get that it makes it spooky, but because the posters are glossy and there's downlighting on them, the glare made them difficult to read. Some of the exhibits have QR codes that allow you to listen to the information, but you do need to bring headphones (which was not mentioned on the ticket at all) or you can hold your phone to your ear and try to listen to it. Also, many of the letters and such written by the killers that are under glass are too far away to be able to actually read which was disappointing. There is one room that is pretty disturbing which covers sexual sadism and could be too graphic for some viewers. Overall, however, there were not a lot of crime scene photos or other photos that haven't already been published if you did a deeper dive. There are bathrooms inside the exhibit, in room 6, but if you go past that, you have to wind back around for awhile to get back to them. Photography is allowed but no flash photography and you can't use the light on your phone to help you read any of the posters. If you want to read and take at least five minutes at every exhibit, it would take you about 2.5 - 3 hours to get through the entire thing. I read about half to 3/4 the exhibits (and did not play the game in the interactive room) and it took me about 2 hours to go through the entire thing. It can also get somewhat crowded so you might have to wait to get close enough to an exhibit to see it. Do not get there early. They do not let you in before the start time on your ticket. There are a few places to stop and sit in various rooms but not many. I do think if you're someone who is mobility impaired, they would probably be fine but you do have to do considerable walking given there are 40 distinct rooms and over 150 exhibits. At the end, there's a merch shop with shot glasses, coffee mugs, towels, books, etc. but it's pretty basic, overpriced stuff and it's mostly just the logo of the exhibit. Honestly, it's dark. Not just in the sense that all the exhibits are so poorly lit you can barely read them, but the content is as well. It's just a lot of information about torture and murder that in the span of two hours, it kind of becomes overload. At least it did for me and I'm someone who falls asleep to ID Discovery murder shows most nights. Some of it felt exploitational and salacious even though there's a wall at the end that shows pictures of some of the victims-- it kind of felt like an afterthought. I thought I'd like it more than I did, but I left feeling a little yucky and I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know (except for killers in other countries).

We saw a show called after dark that was a mix or acrobatics, comedy, music, and sexy people! The set up was minimalist but very cool! The parking was all over the place but good, and there is a restaurant on site. It was a bit away from me but well worth the drive. The show was GREAT... and I'd recommend anyone that is not a prude go and see it. I like this area and will look to come back again.

The planning at each event seemed haphazard. Parking was twenty-two dollars, which was normal for a convention center. I don't have to be back for a few years, my next trade show is in a few months in Chicago.

I had a blast here…read more Parking is free but it fills up quickly. You have have to park next door but it is just a small walk. The is an outside venue with a gigantic dome above the seats. It was sprinkling when I arrived but the dome kept us dry. This venue also allows you to bring in you own food and drinks. People brought lawn chairs, tables, coolers, and platters of food. This was my first event so I only brought a drink and some chocolate. The comedians were great. I got to see 5 comedians over 2 hours and 15 minutes. Bathrooms are clean as well. They sell food and drinks here as well.

There was no parking at the arena but as I was driving down the road, I saw people parking at the post office across the street. I pulled up on the grass and hopped out my car as others were doing and started walking towards the venue. It was about a five minute walk. Entrance was quick and although there was security on the scene no one checked my bag. There was a vendor that was renting portable fans. Thats a great idea. It was easily 90° and people were lined up to rent a fan. $35 they are rechargeable and I believe I heard one of the vendors say it "should" last the entire concert. There was also someone selling sweer potato pies. I personally cant eat fall/winter foods in the summer but the booth also had a line. There is a set of stairs leading to the lawn. If you want a good view and plan to bring your own chair get there early because the lawn area sits on a slope and by the time I arrived I was behind several rows of people with chairs and sitting on the slope, I had to stop myself and my belongings from sliding down the slope. I brought a blanket and sorta had to squeeze in between all the people in chairs. Ultimately I moved up higher on the slope and it wasn't any better because there were still people in chairs and you couldn't see the stage or jumbotrons if you are sitting on the ground that far back. The audio was HORRIBLE. It wasnt just me, I heard several people in the area I was sitting comment that they couldn't hear the preformers. Thankfully I knew the music so I just rocked to the beat and tried to enjoy myself. They allow you to bring in chairs, food and personal coolers. I also saw some people with wagons but wasn't able to figure out how they got them up the stairs leading to the lawn area. People had portable hookahs and vape pens so it was smokey that far back. I also saw people with fans a little larger than what was being rented. In this regard, you can really make yourself comfortable if you bring everything with you. I left expressing to the group I was with that Im done attending concerts at outdoor venues. This was not a $100 summer concert experience.

We came here in…read morecelebration of me getting licensed for work, and I was surprised when I was told we were going to see a show at a place i'd never knew existed! We came for a spoken word event called "Identity", a production of the Story Collider, which cost only $10/adult. This event had 5 scientists get on stage and provide stories of their lives and how science played a part in their self discovery. The Highland Inn Ballroom was an excellent choice for this event. Intimate feel, but enough seats to seat a full room of folks. Small stage, but again, increased intimate feel, adjacent full bar that was active and serving customers throughout the night., and lots of lovely interior to stroll through and photograph. About the only thing I could complain about was that at times the AC didn't appear to be working as well as it could, and it was very warm. Even the warm temperature was addressed Parking for the Highland Inn...I laughed when I saw the lot, because it's "THAT" lot that enforces parking if you're trying to slip in for lunch at a nearby restaurant, including Sweet Auburn BBQ, which is next door. That definitely burns you when you're hungry, but you smile when you're going to the inn, since that parking is yours! From N. Highland Ave, the lot goes down sharply since the lot is on a downward slope, but there is an exit at the bottom of the hill that exits out to Blue Ridge ave. Nice! Staff were friendly, the lounge was good for the event, and this hidden in plain site place is worth checking out.

Attending a book reading and signing event - George Saunders, writer extraordinaire, reading from his latest, "Tenth of December" - might be a different experience than the norm, but I thoroughly enjoyed the funky cool vibe of the space. Plenty of room for 150 people or so to mix and mingle, and the wait for the bar was never long. With a $6 special for well drinks, I was a happy girl. Keep an eye out for future book readings here, usually in partnership with A Cappella Books. For an author you like, it's definitely worth the time and expense. The staff is welcoming and friendly, and will happily call a cab for you at the end of the evening.

Came for R&B Only event…read more Parking was extremely over priced but it is what it is. The event overall was a vibe and we had a great evening. I didn't make it to the roof top but I was told it was nice where you could see what was happening inside and there was seating. Sadly they ran out of food quickly but the drinks were flowing and good time was had.
