If you just want to ride in a horse and carriage, I guess you could go this route Because the scenery really is beautiful. And riding in a carriage is nice. But the "tour"around the park was very short. We could have walked it. It was not worth the money. The tour guides were friendly and informative. The horses were beautiful. But when the tour was over, I couldn't help but feel like we got ripped off. Online, they make it seem like the tour is about an hour long, but part of that hour is taking you to the beach and letting you explore for a little bit. They did offer to take pictures of our family though. But again, we could've walked to the beach ourselves. It would have made for a very nice nature walk.

I recommend. HAS Military Veterans Discount.

It was an hour of magnificence, magic, nostalgia, elegance, fun, emotion, laughs, smiles, delight, and enchantment over the meadow and though the woods to a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe well-hosted and narrated by a mellow and friendly laid-back driver who specialized in pampering not only their horses but also us their guests. Tahoe Sleigh and Carriage Rides is a Borges family owned and operated business since 1967. When there is snow the sleigh ride is on skies and when not the sleigh is on wheels. Their beautiful horses appreciate apple and carrot tips. "Originally known as Borges Sleigh and Carriage Rides, Tahoe Sleigh Ride began all the way back in 1965 when Sam Borges entered his son, David, in the South Lake Tahoe Dodge dealership's raffle for a Shetland pony. To their excitement, David was the lucky recipient of this extraordinary prize--and so it began. After toting kids around the neighborhood for fun, the Borges family launched a full-blown business in 1967 after Sam presented his horse-drawn sleigh ride business to Brooks Park, who ran cattle in a particularly scenic meadow in South Lake Tahoe. Sam and Brooks hashed out a deal and Borges Sleigh and Carriage Rides sprang to life." We recommend using some sort of ride-share transportation to and from the sleigh ride's start and end location as we did to avoid any personal vehicle parking "hassles". Did our sleigh ride before there was snow so it was more of a horse drawn carriage. I give it 4 stars only because of the price! I wish it was a bit more affordable because I'd love to do it again. The staff is so friendly - our tour guides were great. We got to meet our horse beforehand and feed him too! Definitely a fun experience with beautiful sights Follow us on Instagram: nevada_adventure_family

Driving around the lake look what I discovered!! Sleigh rides! The staff are friendly, professional, and kind to the beautiful horses. Met Lynn and Mississippi and Lynn is very informative and happy . Met Sydney who was our Sleigh Master ...lol with Abraham. 30 minutes around the area was nice. Enjoyed talking with Sydney and capturing a few great photos. Thanks!!

My 6 year old daughter and I went on the one-hour sleigh ride yesterday at Sand Harbor State Park with "Duke." We had a blast! All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, and seemed to genuinely enjoy being able to share their horses and provide this service. Throughout the ride, our driver shared all kinds of interesting information about the horses, the history of the area, and the different trees in the park. We stopped a couple of times to give Duke a break, which gave us a chance to take some photos, and - best part - give Duke some treats! Yes, the ride was a bit expensive. I doubt these people are getting rich doing this - there must be significant costs in running this kind of operation. But more importantly, you're paying for a really unique experience. My daughter absolutely loved it, and I got some great photos - to me, that's priceless. I'm sure this will become an annual tradition for us. I'm disappointed in some of the negative reviews from people who have unrealistic expectations and/or no understanding of horses. The ride goes through parking lots and on sidewalks around the park. If you want an "off-road" experience, there are other winter activities that are better suited to that. Yes, these animals need breaks - they are working hard. In my mind, it's a good thing that the owners care about the horses' well-being, not a flaw. And complaining that there's only patchy snow on the ground, as if the owners could control the weather? Seriously?

Notice we are in a parking lot (not on trails through the pines as advertised) and our horse's head is cut off (as it was in every photo).

We were extremely disappointed with our experience. The only aspects that I can say were good were the following: the communication both via text and email were excellent and all of the people that worked there were friendly. The actual experience of the sleigh ride was where our disappointment was. We were essentially being pulled around through different parking lots for 45 minutes. I honestly was shocked. Where were these "Enchanted Pines" described in the website. I kept asking myself, "Is this a joke?" There was only one stretch of about 200 feet where we were on a trail. That was it! Additionally, it was advertised as a narrated/guided tour. Our guide barely spoke to us and we did not learn anything about Tahoe, Nevada or the surrounding area. There were no stories, no songs, nothing as advertised. While our guide was polite, he probably said ten words to us the whole tour. Finally we were promised amazing photos- our guide cut off our horses head in EVERY photo and in many he cut off part of my family!!! It was awful. To be honest, I felt like I was totally duped and spent $150 on nothing. This was a horrible experience.

My husband and I asked when the first available time and the young lady said 1:45. I checked back with her at 1:15 to confirm our time and she said 1:45. We got there at 1:40 and was told we now had to wait after 3 because one of the carriages are out. However, I did see them put another family on a different carriage. They disregarded our reservation and could only say we have to wait until after 3. Or wait until tomorrow. I told them we are leaving tomorrow and already had plans for later. Very poor communication. Since they knew why didn't she tell me when I went to check at 1:15! Wasted time waiting!

    Ready to go!

Never ever been on a carriage ride, and glad to say, had a lovely experience!! Definitely worth the money.

You can call me ,Queen Debra. At least for the hour ride I felt like a Queen. You catch the carriages on hwy 50, right next to the casinos. Our horses name was Duke, he was a Belgium white. I forget the name of the driver, but he had 30 plus years driving horses. This was such a relaxing fun ride. We ventured down to the lake, and then through the surrounding neighborhoods, I really hope I get to do this again sometime

Looked to Yelp to help me find a tour that worked for us and happy to find Tahoe Lake Tours! Booking online was easy enough. Looking on Wednesday for a Friday morning time slot and there it was: 9:30-1:30 was perfect. The web site states exactly what will happen during the 4 hours and offers a phone number to call for questions. Parking and check in were easy and Captain Dan was ready for us. The boat was clean and well stocked with life jackets that fit for both adults and children (ages 8,6,4) as well as water bottles. Before leaving the dock we were offered water for a cooler which we didn't need but the offer was appreciated. Our 4 hours: 1. Safety information 2. Review of our preferences for the tour 3. Lots of history of the area as we toured 4. Emerald Bay & Mrs. Knights castle 5. Water tubing (first time for the grandkids) 6. Hang out time for a snack (we brought lots LOL) 7. Back to the marina Dan was very knowledgeable and great with the kids. We would definitely book with Tahoe Lake Tours again and request Captain Dan. He even called in advance to accommodate a better start time to ensure we had the best weather. We could not have asked for a more perfect day. Booking was easy and he answered all my questions beforehand. We highly recommend this company.

My kids chose the 2-hour Class C - 20 feet open Bow Speed Boat ($478). I thought we would have a driver with us to take us out but no.... They showed my kids how the boat operates, took us out to the open water, and let us loose! There was eight of us on board. It was beautiful out on the water, with the rocking waves, and beautiful scenery and sky. But not when you have my kids driving it like a race car on water. We were rocking like crazy and we all got wet. Especially my grandchildren sitting at the front, who were drenched! I told my kids to slow down, but they say, "he said we could floor it." OMG!! The kids had to put on life jackets and the adults were told there are emergency life jackets on board. Well, with my kids enjoying what the boat can do, I threw on my life jacket! I admit, my kids are very responsible drivers on land. They had so much fun driving the boat in the wide open lake. As scared as I was of possibly being overtaken by waves or capsizing, it was an amazing experience, and it felt so good out there. Absolutely beautiful!! I really enjoyed it, and the staff were great. They know exactly what they're doing. The water started to get kind of choppy, so we ventured back towards the shore after an hour, called them on the radio, and staff came out on a dingy to help dock the boat so that we can safely get out. I am so glad I went on this excursion. If you love the water and drifting up and down with the waves, this is a must try!

We went on the 2PM cruise today and had fantastic weather for a lake cruise. They advised us to start lining up around 1:30p, started boarding around 1:45p and were promptly cruising following key safety messages. Key things to note below: -There is available seating toward the front outside, if you appreciate some sun and a cool breeze these may be the seats for you! -Guests moved in and out throughout the cruise, we opted to stay in for most of it but had no issues moving around outside to take photos comfortably. -Snacks and drinks are available for purchase onboard. -They had comfy blankets available inside to take outside to keep warm (very nice touch and they appeared to be very clean) -They did a great job slowing down in Emerald Bay and highlighting wildlife nearby for viewing and photography. -Don't forget to bring cash to tip the well-deserving crew! -We had a cool mix of tourists and locals to chat with on the cruise. -There are padded bench style seats indoor and plastic chairs as well. The upper deck also had seating (no shade up top aside from some in the front) -There are restrooms on board, I didn't use them but they were available. Highly recommend for a relaxing and informative cruise around South Lake Tahoe & Emerald Bay. Will definitely cruise again on our next visit to South Lake Tahoe. Star employee - The gal in the ticket office helped us as our tickets printed oddly. She confirmed we were on the list and would be able to board without it. She was so friendly & set a cheerful tone for the day. :) Note, I typically never write reviews this quickly but they did an amazing job and we had a few minutes to spare before dinner nearby. :) Happy Sailing!

I got absolutely none of it. At boarding, the dock was chaotic with zero organization -- they were prioritizing a large corporate group while the rest of us were left confused and waiting. We were sent upstairs where there was no seating, forcing us to stand in the cold for nearly two hours while spending $100 out of pocket on drinks to hold us over for the dinner that was almost 2 hours late! Then we were literally packed into a cramped stairwell for 30 minutes -- a fire hazard their own service manager admitted to -- while the corporate group enjoyed the upper deck. When we were finally seated, I had to remind the manager I'd paid for window seats because she tried to put us in the middle of the room. By then it was pitch dark outside. Zero views. Zero complimentary drink. Ever. The food was a disaster. My medium rare steak came out overcooked and tough, the salmon was cold, and we were rushed off the boat before we even finished dessert. To make it worse -- I've called multiple times and been put on hold and hung up on repeatedly. I've sent emails with zero response. A manager on the boat promised a refund and never followed through. The driver ignored the authorized point of contact and accepted unauthorized instructions, causing confusion and missed portions of the wedding timeline. The company's response afterward did not acknowledge responsibility and instead focused on justifying the situation. If you're considering Discover Lake Tahoe Tours for a wedding or any event where timing matters, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. I hired this company for my wedding transportation and made it explicitly clear that we had a strict schedule. From the beginning, there were administrative issues that should have been a red flag. I was initially sent the wrong contract for an entirely different group, which raised concerns about their attention to detail. Then, just three days before the wedding, I received an email suggesting we move the initial pickup location away from the valet area off hotel property --making my guests walk further. The result on the day of the event was a disaster. After getting my wedding pictures taken on the way out I found Twenty-six of my guests standing waiting 35 minutes after the shuttle was supposed to have left with them. I then had to personally drive around the resort with my new bride searching for the shuttle. When I finally located the driver, he was sitting in a back parking lot playing on his phone. I was extremely frustrated at this point and did speak to him in an aggressive tone once he dropped everyone off at the reception. When I confronted him, he claimed the lady in charge had instructed him to delay the pickup. There was in fact no lady in charge. He could not and can still not give me a name of this "lady in charge". He never made any effort to contact me--the only person he had been communicating with and the only person authorized to approve any changes--to verify this instruction or confirm a schedule change. Instead, he simply acted on it without question, leaving my guests waiting and completely disregarding the agreed-upon plan. Because of this unnecessary delay, my guests didn't leave the venue for approximately 40 minutes after they were supposed to. We missed our cocktail hour, paid our DJ $350 per hour to perform in an empty room, delayed approximately $5,000 worth of food, and created unnecessary stress and confusion on what should have been one of the most important days of our lives. What made the experience even worse was the company's response afterward. Instead of taking responsibility, I was told that this was a "brand new bus," which has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the driver ignored the agreed-upon schedule and accepted directions from someone who had no authority to change it. I was also told that he could have charged me an additional $100 because the service exceeded the two-hour booking. The only reason it exceeded two hours was because of the driver's own mishandling of the schedule. To top it off, they complained that they usually receive additional tips--even though I had already been required to prepay a mandatory $100 gratuity. As the customer who paid $800 for this 2 hour service, I expected professionalism, communication, and adherence to the timeline we agreed upon. Instead, I spent part of my wedding day searching for my own shuttle while my guests waited. The lack of accountability was every bit as disappointing as the original mistake. Rather than apologizing and making things right, the company chose to make excuses and imply that I should have been grateful they didn't charge me even more. I cannot recommend Discover Lake Tahoe Tours to anyone planning a wedding or other event where reliability, communication, and professionalism are essential.
