Deliver on your promises. Deliver on deadlines. My wife was told a dress would be ready for pick up no problem a week after dropping it off. They wrote the pick up date and time on the tag. She went to pick it up it wasn't ready, "please come back tomorrow" she went back the morning she had an event to go to out of town & dress was not ready for a second time. The excuse "oh sorry we're busy" well when I have a deadline at work and a client wanting something and I'm busy I work late to deliver. You fail to deliver you lose a customer and the 15 people they are going to tell. Do better, there's a million other options. read more

I grew up getting alterations here, and even though I haven't lived in Baton Rouge since 2016 I still bring clothing items in when I visit my family to take to Tinh for alterations. Recently I brought in a wool dress that my cats had chewed holes in the bottom of to try and salvage it by making it into a sweater. They did a fantastic job, as always! And the dress was flowy / it was not an easy alteration to do. Now I have a one of a kind piece. My family members and I have probably had 100+ items altered over the years here. PLEASE do NOT come here!!! Save yourself the trouble. I had a HORRIBLE experience. I never leave reviews, but I wanted to make sure I left one so that no one else has to deal with this unnecessary stress and nonsense. The fact of the matter is that she messed up my dress. I had to come back on FOUR separate occasions for her to finish my dress as she promised. Each time there was a new excuse to why the dress was messed up. (For example: "my worker is new so we used it as a learning experience", "the company made the dress lop-sided", "it was already cut like this", etc.) I paid $110 for a horrible experience (payment required upfront by the way) and simple alterations (fixing the collar of my dress, hemming, and taking the back in). She does NOT respect others time or money. She set appointments with me and then when I would show up, she would say my dress wasn't ready and I should come back in a hour, even though we agreed on a time. I will NEVER be back here again. I CAUTION ANYONE WHO IS THINKING OF USING THIS PLACE. In addition to everything else that occurred, she also LOST my dress (requiring ME to sort through her racks to try to find my own dress) and she also touched my dress with something on her hands (requiring dry cleaning to remove). And during my four visits here I had the opportunity to see many other unhappy customers (who will also hopefully leave reviews). Several people showed up for their items, and she told them they were not ready. One guy even noted "I paid extra for it to be done by this time." And she basically said, "oh well!" Several other brides were unhappy with their alterations and she had excuses for all of them as well. If I could give this place 0 stars, I truly would. Not even a partial refund given despite the blatant mess ups over and over again. read more

Cons: *I was unhappy with the work they did to my lace wedding dress. It seemed sloppy and rushed in my opinion. For example, some mesh was hanging off the bottom that had not been trimmed from hemming, fabric was bunching at the shoulders where it had not before alterations, visible lace patches that were stitched together at the shoulders/bust started to unravel in some places, to name a few issues. Several changes were made to the dress that I feel were not properly communicated to me. The resulting dress was not unwearable for a night, but I was definitely not satisfied with the quality of the work that was done to it. *I showed pictures and explained what I wanted to do with my dress, which included my bustle (a three point bustle), at my first fitting. All alterations seemed agreed upon as I paid in advance. However, when it came time to do the bustle, they kept trying to convince me to do a single bustle. It was frustrating trying to get them to do the bustle we agreed upon in the first place. Pros: They worked after closing hours with me a week before I needed the dress to solve as many problems (that they caused) as they could. Overall, I was not satisfied with the result and feel that they could have communicated better and could have resolved issues with the dress in a more timely manner. read more

I am PISSED. I paid for my son's slacks to be taken in and they hemmed the bottom of his pants. I said he needed them taken in because he's small. They also over charged me and I know it. Extremely unhappy with my wedding dress. It was rushed and sloppy. The dress was cut too short for the style. The beading was messed up and they took in the sides incorrectly. Bring it to Danny at golden needle. He will make ur wedding dress perfect. They also altered the mother of the brides dress way too tight and changed the whole fit of the dress. Blush will convince you to not use Danny at golden needle but absolutely use him do not waste your time and money here. read more

I've been going here for about 2 years, and they've never disappointed me! Here's the deal with Tailoring by Tinh! Getting here is a bit of a hassle because it's off Perkins between Acadian and College, which is a high traffic area. Parking is a whole other ordeal because the lot isn't necessarily an accident-free zone. Once you enter (it's a pretty small place), you change into the clothes you want to get altered (there are 3 fitting rooms if I remember correctly). Someone will get you fitted, then you pay. Everything is pre-paid, and if anything is wrong with the alteration, bring it back within 5 days for them to fix it at no extra cost. They also sell candles, jewelry/accessories and other stuff. If you're curious, the staff here are Vietnamese (as if the name doesn't make it obvious). I got plenty of blouses, dresses (especially), trousers, and jeans altered here. The prices are justified by the quality of the work they bring to the table. At one point, I got 3 dresses altered, all of which needed to be hemmed up, pulled in, tightened, etc. A lot of work needed to be done, and the cost was about $87. It was worth it in the end because I had no complaints. The dresses fit me better than a glove! Now that I moved back to New Orleans, it'll be hard for me to find a replacement :( read more

These people do an excellent job. I can never find pants with my particular length and have to buy a size bigger and get them hemmed. I've brought shirts here as well if the sleeves were too long or the length. They're all very friendly, the price is reasonable. All you have to do is go there, let them take the measurements then pick up your items in a few days. Couldn't expect more than that from a tailor! They are also opened on Saturday. Love this place! They're very efficient and I find their pricing to be very reasonable. I've always been very happy with the work they've done... I have never needed to take anything back to be fixed! Sadly, I've moved away from Baton Rouge (TX) and had to find a new tailor. And recently I had a Bridesmaid's dress altered by this new tailor- they totally screwed it up! Luckily, the wedding is in New Orleans and I was able to pass Baton Rouge on the way. My dress wasn't ready. I just needed it hemmed. They said they had told me it would be ready for the following week- which wasn't what my ticket said. They couldn't find my dress at first and I had to come back a few hours later that day. It still wasn't ready and they hadn't even found my dress yet. I've been coming here my WHOLE life. It started with my mom around 30 years ago. The place hasn't changed this whole time. It's dirty. Just a tiny update would be nice. I also feel like it's a little overpriced. 14 bucks to fix a strap on a tee shirt? That's expensive to me. Not to mention, they didn't fix it properly. The straps are still uneven. It's also prepaid. Don't lose the ticket they give you or its kind of a pain. The employees are nice and do an alright job, but I think I'm going to see what else is out there. read more

Thank God for this place. I was panicking and having sleepless nights about a bridal sash that I could not figure out how to fix. I kept taking it from place to place in Lafayette and no one knew what to do with it. I wanted a piece of chiffon (hard to sew) sewed onto the front of the satin bridal sash- ruched. They listened to me, and then told me it'd be ready in a week. I came back a week later and they did exactly what I was beginning to think wasn't even possible from all the other seamstresses who didn't want to mess with it. They asked me to bring the wedding dress back to try it. I had driven from Lafayette to pick it up and it wasn't quite ready and she said she'd try to finish in a few hours. A few hours later I came back and it was done! All for under fifty dollars, such a reasonable price and they listened to exactly what I pictures in my head. Thanks! read more

I brought jeans here to be fixed and when I got them back they had a rip in the bottom that has not been there before. I noticed it right away and the workers blamed me for the rip when I knew it could not have come from me. They did not offer to fix them and were extremely rude. read more

Reading the previous post...I'm slightly disappointed. We were measured for dresses for a wedding and almost every bridesmaid has had to have the dress altered. They offered a discount since it was an issue with everyone, but even after the discount the prices have significantly increased from the previous review of 3 dresses at $85 to 1 dress at $75. read more

My experience was awful. I had a dress fitted for my sisters wedding and right before the ceremony my straps popped off (which she had something to do with because she tightened them for me.) All night my safety pins kept popping off and my breasts kept coming out in from of the cameras. I went there to talk to them about it and she told me she couldn't do anything about it. Horrible customer service and for a dress I paid $75 to get tailored. I wouldn't not recommend it to anyone. read more

I decided to give this place a shot--wast of time! The women at this store are downright rude. I only needed my bridesmaid dress to be hemmed and they wanted me to pay $60 for them to hem the bottom NOT expensive material and cut the top layer of tulle. I paid that much recently for a dress that had to be completely fitted to my body! I said I thought it was too much and then had the rude owner laugh at me. I went right down the road to the Golden Needle and am getting this work down for less than half of what this place was charging me. The Golden Needle on Perkins (by Burger Smith) is fabulous! They did an amazing job on my two wedding dresses and they were not easy alterations! Pricing was fair considering the work that I asked to be done to the dresses and they were pretty quick on it. Just check the garment before you leave. I went to pick up one dress that was supposed to get cups put in and they said not to worry about trying it on and luckily I opened the garment bag to realize that the cups were never put in. We went to this business because it is right next door to Blush, where my daughter got her wedding dress. From the start, we told the girl that we wanted more than a single bustle because the train on the dress was so heavy. She wanted to put only one hook with a few extra threaded eyes in case the first one broke. In spite of our request, she insisted that she pin where the bustle would be after the first fitting to show how it would be done. At the second fitting, we insisted that she put in at least 3 hooks so that it would be able to hold the weight of the train. When my daughter picked up the dress, she was alone and had to be helped in and out of the dress. When she got it home, we realized that the woman who helped her had popped the threaded eye at the top of the dress and the train was still dragging the ground significantly. In addition to being overcharged for the work that was done, we had to take it to another tailor to redo the bustle and replace the eye that was broken. It took 7 bustles strategically placed to hold up the train and it worked beautifully. It could be done, but Tailoring by Tinh didn't want to spend the time to do it. read more

I brought a tux in to be tailored on a Saturday (so I could have it ready 2 Fridays later for a cruise). I paid for it up front according to store policy, and they tell me it will be ready by Thursday that same week....perfect. I end up not being able to go pick it up on time due to a death in the family out of town. The following week, I go in on Tuesday (10 days after drop off) and after 20 minutes of watching them rummage through a ton of clothing, they come back and tell me that they "forgot to do it." As angry as I was, I politely told them I need it done by tomorrow afternoon and they say okay. I went back the next day and try on my "tailored" tux, and it appears that they didn't do anything! It fits the same as it did before! At this point I didn't have time to argue with someone that speaks broken English, so I grabbed my stuff and left. I will find somewhere else to do business. I would not waste your time here, hoping that they remember to do the service that they collected payment for upfront. read more

I had a terrible experience with this business, which is unfortunate because it looks like many other people were happy with their work. I needed a pair of pants taken in and needed them to be ready in 4 days. I called ahead of time to make sure they could do this and see if I would be charged extra. I was told it was "no problem" and there would be no additional charge. Once I got there, they wanted me to pay an additional $5 on top of, in my opinion, a steep fee for the amount of work required. I explained that I was told there would be no additional charge, which is why I had gone there. The manager comes out and agrees to charge me $3 instead of the $5 due to the miscommunication. I was a little frustrated, but said okay. I then show up to pick them up well after the pick up time and they are no where to be found. They hadn't even started on them. The cashier asks me to "come back in 15 minutes". I explain that I paid for a rush, but she was very unapologetic. She said that they could credit me a couple dollars next time I come in. Frankly, their customer service is pretty awful and I will not be returning here. Hope no one else has this issue. read more
