This was the worst experience I have had. I was not measured correctly, picked up my dress and it was way too big so she said she was going to fix it . It looked like a kinder Garner had done. It . It was done so unprofessionally . Then when it still did not fit, she suggested I just pin it because it was only for one day. I told my friend to go there too so that she could get her dress fixed and it was done wrong and unprofessionally too . if you want something done and it means something to you do not bring it there because they will ruin it. Their price-point is extremely reasonable for the turnaround, work, and consistency...I mean, have you SEEN how many gowns and day-to-day items they get out a week??? I've been to other shops where I had to come back because they didn't work on my items for the date they promised. Here, they will ALWAYS be on time, if not, sometimes earlier! They are very rude in here. Very unprofessional and just outright lazy. I came in for alterations and addition of feathers on a jacket and an Asian man was very rude. He had an attitude, did not greet me, and cut me off while I was explaining what I wanted. He then told me I can go somewhere else and walked off. The Golden Needle on Coursey has way better service. DO NOT GO HERE! And as for a response to his response, he said that I tried to skip someone. However, we waited patiently for his first customer to finish. It took about 20 minutes. I brought my wedding dress here to be altered based on reviews I have read. Mr. Danny is awesome! I put on my dress and stood in front of the mirror. He came out and told me the dress looked good on me. I know he probably tells that to everyone, but he seemed genuine. He listened to what I needed done with the dress and then he gave some suggestions as well. My dress was a little tight in the ribs so I was worried about that. In 6 weeks we came back and I tried the dress on. It fit great. All the alterations were wonderful. Mr. Danny spun me around showing me all views. Not really sure what has happened with the so called Danny everyone speaks about. My sister and I drove in from NOLA after this man was highly recommended. He stared at her in her wedding gown for 5 minutes before speaking. He made us very uncomfortable by telling my sister her wedding dress was not a good fit for her curvy body (she is a size 6/8), she looked dumb by not wearing heels then grabbed her dress when we tried to walk out. Went here as directed by Town & Country because Danny did good work and was fast. Had no problems with my first appointment and was told when I could pick up. When I went to pick up (2.5 months later) the dress did not fit correctly. It was super loose in the waist and too long. I had to continually pull it up. When I brought that to Danny's attention he told me that I needed to stop pulling it up, it was in my head, and the dress fit correctly. He argued that he was right about everything I brought up. I decided to not even ask him to fix it bc he seemed unwilling. I took my dress to Ana's Alterations in Kenner on a rush job and they took it in perfectly in 2 weeks for a quarter of Danny's price. Brought my wedding dress in 3 months before my wedding. I was very nervous as I just moved here and didn't have anyone to come to my fitting. Danny was fantastic and full of character and energy. I brought a belt for my dress that I was iffy about be he straight forwardly told me it wasn't a fit for my simple dress- I appreciate this type of frankness and he IS the professional here. He also had suggestions on what type of undergarment to wear with my dress as it was a sensitive fabric that shows any bumps or lumps easily. It only took two fittings and it came out perfect. Danny is fantastic! I just picked up my bridal gown from him today and I am very impressed with his work. He had to take the dress in a fairly significant amount, plus he added some additional boning (support) and cups. He also added a bustle, which is absolutely stunning. The dress fits like a glove and he spent extra time explaining to myself and my matron of honor how to properly put the dress on and bustle it. The alterations were also very reasonably priced (he had to do quite a bit to the dress). He is pretty blunt (don't take offense- it's not rude.. just straightforward!), but his work speaks for itself. I 100% recommend this tailor! I brought in 2 tuxedos and 1 suit to have tailored. I wanted each to fit slightly differently because I am wearing them for 3 different types of occasion (one of which is my wedding.) He completely understood what I wanted and totally delivered! Each piece of clothing fits me perfectly! Before going to the Golden Needle, you must understand that Danny is very direct and he COULD come off as rude to some, but he had NO such intention. He totally reconstructed my dress. It wasn't a big difference in my initial design, but he did go in & add fabric to make it fit. It was perfect. Do not use this tailor. I paid over $300 only to have to have my dress repaired by another tailor.... On the front end, this tailor seemed to be good. You walk in and see hundreds of wedding dresses so you think that he must be great... After four weeks, I came back to find that my wedding dress didn't even resemble the dress that I had brought in. the top of one side was pointed to a triangle, the other was rounded... He had let the dress out too much and then refused to take it back in. The beading was detached and curling under. I tried to have the problem fixed over the course of 10 days to no avail. I was told that it was normal to have boning sticking out and bending, that I could not have a bra built in to my dress, that beading was supposed to be detached. He argued with me throughout the whole process. He did eventually fix the beading, however he used cheap thread so it began to come off again. I ended up having to take my dress to another tailor five days before my wedding. When I put my dress on for the second tailor, I didn't even have to tell him what was wrong with the dress. He immediately said, "What did this tailor do, and why didn't he do what you asked him to do." He fixed the boning and the top from flipping down, took it back in and curved the seams so I could bend and sit appropriately. The second tailor did as much as he could in the limited amount of time that he had, but it still didn't turn out as perfect as it should have. I do not recommend this tailor at all! read more

After having the dress overnighted from Ohio, I was nervous about where to take it. The Golden Needle was accommodating and fit me in their busy schedule and rushed the job for me. I had a similar experience to "Molly M." at the bottom of this page. I feel like I spent a lot of money only to have the shape of my dress totally changed from its original silhouette... unintentionally. It went from a drapey circle skirt to a puffy ball gown. Plus the hem was too long and uneven and the tulle kept going between my legs. It felt bulky and unflattering. I kept trying to have them fix it... and they kept reluctantly taking it back and "fixing it," but in the end, it still wasn't right. I had to take it to another tailor to undo what they did to the petticoat, and make it the shape it was supposed to be. I know a lot of brides love them, but they just didn't work for me and my dress. read more

My dress turned out beautiful (except for the excess fabric left on the inside of the lace arms, but I should have said something about that when I went to try it on). However, when I went to try on my dress at the shop after alterations (my dress was quite big on me before alterations), it was incredibly tight (the entire top is lace) and after I said something about it, I was ensured that the lace would give once I wore it and that the lace needed to be tight for it to look clean as it gave. But, while the lace did give a little, I was still left with marks on my shoulders where the dress seam cut into my skin (even the next morning) and the buttons on the back popped open the entire night every time I moved my arms in front of my body because it was so tight. My advice is to be super pushy about how you feel in the dress when you pick it up and make them change it if it's not perfect ... that was wayyyyyyy too much money to spend for my dress to be uncomfortable. read more

I purchased my gown at Bridal Boutique who recommend using Golden Needle for alterations. I brought my dress in February 2016 and got it back May 2016. (with my wedding being June 2016) He is a very very busy guy. I recommend getting your dress to him early. Definitely make an appointment. My dress needed to be taking in around the hips and waist and in the chest area, then of course the length. My dress is covered in beading and details and some lace detailed back. I also had straps I ordered for my dress that needed to be put on and cups put in so I could wear it without a bra. He did absolutely stunning work! My chest area was very difficult for him to alter, he literally stared at me in my dress for 5 minutes trying to decide how to even pull it off. He ended up having to cut a lot of the top off and redo it. It was flawless. Reasonable prices, my cost was close to 400 for all the work I needed. I recommend him for any alteration needs! read more
