    Ramen! Spicy with thinly-sliced pork
    Doug B.

I was nearby at the history museum and was tired of tapas. How could I resist the warming and filling properties of Japanese comfort food? My Japanese is much better than my way-broken Google-translate Spanish, too. They have a wide selection of options from kaarage to teriyaki and even shrimp. They've got beer (the one tap here is Kirin Ichiban rather than the ubiquitous Estrella), sake and soft drinks (including Ramune) According to the menu, the noodles are imported from Japan... and they're fantastic! Some of the noodles are irregularly shaped, which leads me to believe they're handmade rather than manufactured, too. I had a "limited special" that was spicy chicken broth with sliced pork, bamboo shoots, cilantro a soft-boiled egg and probably more that I'm forgetting. All of it combined to make a bowl of happiness for my last lunch in Barcelona. The service is good and the decor creates the ambience of an izakaya in Tokyo, aside from the Spanish pop music in the background :) If you can get a seat near the back, you can escape the traffic noise and smell -- which may not be a big deal if the weather isn't as nice as it was during my visit and they're not keeping the door open to let in some air. Fun fact: the "Takumi" kanji they use in the restaurant's name means "artisan" ... so, artisan ramen, Sapporo style.

When I say this spot was clutch while in Barca this past August! After a day of exploring which did include lunch we would stop in here before heading to our hotel and get snacks for after dinner/drinks later. We would get dumplings and chicken. They also had ramen, but if you know me, I'm not into ramen. However, my friends who needed something more hearty enjoyed the ramen. If you're ever in the Gothic Quarter and need something to nosh on, come here!

Clean, friendly. Most of all, you're going to have a bellygasm when this ramen hits you. Bring your own headband - your minds going to be blown, and make sure not to wear any socks unless you want those blown off too. It's a little toasty up in here, but that doesn't compromise this 5-star rating. Best ramen we have ever had. Onaka suita?

The absolute best food in Barcelona!! We were craving Ramen after being in Spain for 5 days and what a treat. Great service, great drinks and fabulous food! The vibe was great, packed but a friendly vibe. Our part of 7 enjoyed!

Itching for a good bowl of ramen?? You have found it! Definitely a cool spot for lunch or dinner with friends (small or large groups). This is a rather large ramen shop with seating up and downstairs. 3/3 Food We started with the chicken gyoza which were juicy, flavorful and had a nice slight crisp at the bottom. For our main entrees, we ordered the R13 ramen which is the mala noukou butatama ramen and the karage curry. Probably one of the best ramen's I've had - the noodles had an excellent texture and chew to it paired with the decadent, rich broth with thinly sliced pork. It was topped with thinly sliced ginger, which added some freshness to each bite. The karage curry was rather basic, but delicious nonetheless. 1/1 Service Service was kind of go with the flow. We had one server to take our order and when we were ready to pay, we just walked up to the counter. 1/1 Price Honestly, this meal could have been 2-3x what I paid and I still would have paid it because it was so good. Happy eatings!

Spicy butatama ramen was very satisfying for me! The decor inside is super cute. Would definitely recommend trying this place out.

Yay! An actual ramen place in BCN! Atmosphere is super cute, lots of wicker lanterns and Japanese pop culture inspo decor. Packed w people. There is also a downstairs. Service was friendly. Got the miso pork ramen and shio grilled chicken. Both broths were delish. Chicken broth was clear, clean and flavorful. Miso was rich, pork flavored and also delish. Good assortment of veggies, nori and the ramen itself was quality, nicely chewy and toothsome. After days of tapas, patas bravas and paella, this was a warm welcome meal. They ebi app was crunchy and tasty, although the shrimp were on the smaller side it was only 6 e, so prob about right. Recommend!

While attempting to attend the neighbouring ramen shop, we stumbled upon this one instead. Really great atmosphere and plenty of tables. I'd say the ramen was the best that I've had in a while and I highly recommend the spicy ramen.

Great food! Perfect quick stop for a quality meal. Ramen is awesome. Curry was great too, not too spicy.

This was the best ramen I've had since living in Japan. Had the spice pork ramen, was almost exactly how I remember. Highly recommend.

I arrived for a late lunch (according to American standards, of course, as it was probably perfect timing for the rest of the Spaniards in the restaurant) and was quickly seated. I had gotten my filling of tapas during my stay in Barcelona and needed a bit of palate cleanser with a hearty, flavorful bao filled with meat -- a bit like an Asian taco, if you will. I stood firm in my order despite it feeling like heresy as "ramen" is in the name of the restaurant and a quick look around me revealed that most of the tables were definitely enjoying their ramen. Still, with things like pad thai and kimchi on the menu, I felt like I had permission to indulge in my cravings. I dug into a starter of some chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken) that came with some homemade teriyaki sauce on the side. The chicken was perfectly crispy and the teriyaki sauce complemented its flavor instead of being too overwhelming. But the order did seem a bit on the pricier side at €7.50, which is basically the same price as one of the baos, so I think I would've ordered an extra one instead. As for the baos, I got three: the pork, the chicken, and the shrimp. They all tasted very similar to each other -- the pickled cucumber and carrot on the pork and the sauces on the shrimp did most of the heavy lifting, so I barely tasted the difference in meat. There are other places that ofter this bao delicacy in Barcelona (my reco would be Boa Bao) so come to Koku Kitchen for the ramen and gyoza instead. I did appreciate the decor of the place, especially the flower placed in a brown apothecary-esque bottle and the dim, hip vibes of the bathroom.

Well I was curious to see how good or bad ramen place would be in Spain. Well curiosity killed the cat and my wallet for wasting my money . Restaurant was packed. I thought we would wait but was asked to follow one of the staff. Went downstairs and saw another dining room which was cool. Also packed with people so I was little excited to taste the food. Ordered angry chicken bao.. Don't know why it was angry because it wasn't spicy at all. Took a bite and was trying to figure out what the sauce was.. Little taste of peanut. Bao was alright but not worth the money for how much it cost for one. Then got the pork gyoza. Not bad, not much flavor but wasn't horrible. Then the main dish I ordered spicy miso ramen and pad Thai.. Why I ordered pad Thai at Japanese restaurant in Spain? I have no idea. Presentation of ramen was good. Tasted the broth and I was confused because it tasted sweet and lacked in miso flavor and no spice what so ever. Ramen was cooked little al dente. Employee was nice enough to offer chilli.. So added about 4 spoonful and tasted little better. Over all the ramen was pure disappointment, probably the worst ramen I ate at a restaurant. Then the pad Thai.. Tiny little bowl only with shrimp cut in half on top. I thought I was disappointed with ramen but man... This dish was utter failure.. No way anything near pad Thai flavor. It tasted like egg fried noodle with shrimp on top. It lacked in so much flavor. So dinner was pretty sad.. I could not recommend this place to anyone.. And holy smoke 5.50 for side of kimchee.. What the heck.. Can't wait to tell my mom how much they were charging for side of kimchee...

They could benefit from a bit more banana or fresh fruit to balance out the stack, especially given the size of the dish. The English breakfast was excellent, well-cooked and satisfying, and the side of chorizo stood out as particularly flavorful. Coffee was genuinely perfect, easily one of the highlights of the meal. The overall vibe is a classic European café style, relaxed and comfortable, good for a casual sit-down breakfast or brunch. One important note: this is not a place for traditional Spanish food. If you are looking for local Catalan or Spanish breakfast or tapas, this will feel more international than authentic.
