Most of the physicians and nurses from my state are sent to "Club Talbot." Thousands have long term recovery, (the vast majority) some as many as 40 years. It is very expensive; everyone I know who went there paid cash as it was not covered by insurance. The treatment milieu is excellent with superb instruction in the dise;ase model and direct experience dealing with and living with other recovering alcoholics. It is a program with spiritual, physical, and mental health components. Many persons who suffer with dependency have separate diagnosis which require special treatment. I know of many physicians in my area who are "graduates" who are practicing with many years of sobriety. Treatment used to be 5-6 months, but the time has decreased with improvement of their model. For a professional who can afford it, there is no better place for addiction treatment. Please note that the negative reviews here are from persons who do not understand the treatment process. One person said he was never asked why he had a drinking problem: All patients with dependency have a strong genetic predisposition-people abuse substances because they have a disease. Only 300 persons dying compared to thousands who obtain sobriety is an amazing statistic. The majority of persons who attend a treatment facility die from the disease. Medical professionals require special evaluations to protect the public. State boards require verification of successful treatment to protect the public. The 72 hour assessment is to determine if the primary diagnosis might be something else. Patients with serious mental illness require separate treatment at a different facility. The amount of substances used has nothing to do with whether one is an addict. Some other professional has already diagnosed the patients before the evaluation: with rare exception. There are some with positive drug screens or false reports that do are not recommended for treatment. There may be the appearance of disorganization, but it is from lack of understanding of the process. Suicide is very common among patients with substance dependency, much higher than the general population. Please do not let the negative reviews distract you. If you can afford the steep price. the program gives the best possible chance of achieving long term sobriety. read more

"Offering customized programs to pilots, law enforcements, healthcare professionals & more" is far from the truth. I have a loved one who was forced to attend this "treatment" facility because it was required for health care professionals and I have nothing positive to say about Talbott's program or their staff. Although they advertise it's an offers for a customized care plan, Talbott actually groups patients of all backgrounds, conditions, and situations together under some one shoe size fits all program. The problem with that is those who will require further treatment are getting under treated, while there are those like my family member who are there for a minor infraction getting treated as if they are in some psych ward. Their low therapist to patient ratio is horrendous, which makes you question if patients are even getting the proper care required. From what I've seen, it doesn't seem as they are equipped to address all disorders, but they still accepted them and mashed them in with the rest, causing intense friction. Talbott also opened doors to others outside of pilots, law enforcements and health care professionals, which seems to have caused tension and disruption within the group. I've seen out and in patient treatments, but Talbott's condition of "outpatient" means patients are confined to a strict schedule with limited phone access, having a buddy system to go anywhere, against the rules to stay in your bedroom alone, not allowed to be outside your apartment to talk on the phone, and limiting time with loved ones to weeks 4 & 8 of the program. I've personally never seen an "outpatient" program with that many restrictions. What also infuriates me is their living conditions. Talbott gets about $10,000 per patient to accommodate living. My family member was essentially confined to a local apartment complex and not only have suite mates, but a roommate. You would imagine with that much funding per patient, living accommodations can be better, especially to provide privacy so patients can talk to their family & friends without being conscious of roommates. Yes, I used the word "confine" because that's the experience I've seen my family member go through. People are here to face their issues and rehabilitate, but part of getting through that is to maintain good connections with their support system back home. The infrastructure Talbott creates, really limits that and along with additional forced social events, really can lead to mental burnout than rehabilitation. If you look at the review, there's a lot of people commenting with the same issues. This is a trend and I agree with those statements. Talbott needs to seriously relook their processes and procedures if they want to build an environment where people can treat themselves without going through unnecessary stress. read more

Its all about the money. Every doctor was initially told 8 weeks but all were extended to 12 weeks. My psychologist, Dr. G, was worthless. Never asked why I had a drinking problem. They had a memorial service for all the patients that had died, 300 over a 10 year span, hardly a successful treatment center. You spend a lot of time listening to pointless lectures, "Mindfullness". Several of the patients were there for a repeat visit. The majority of the people there are doctors or pilots who HAVE to attend if they want to get their job back, that makes for a great environment. And any review you see by Ben or Bennet is from a paid employee. read more

I was a patient at TRC in the early 2000s. It was a complete waste of time. Brainwashing with ridiculous lectures and misfit psychologists. Don't waste your money on this facility. Go somewhere else. I was able to find care with a clinical psychologist near my home in California. read more

DO NOT GO to this place! These people give a whole new meaning to "extortion". If you are a licensed medical provider, they force you to sign an "Agreement Not To Practice" while you are in treatment. The catch is that they must release you from this contract and deem you "ready to return to work" after your time in treatment. You cannot return to work without this letter of blessing. Therefore, they can make you stay there for as long as they want to (based entirely on the length of stay your insurance will pay for. You have to stay and comply with their demands or they will not release you to work ever again. They also force every single patient to write an essay describing every consequence of addiction including arrests, job loses, DUIs, blackouts etc. if that is not bad enough, they make you read it out loud and humiliate yourself in front of the whole group. They completely disregard all patient privacy protections by forcing patients to divulge their medical history to every person in the group. This was more traumatizing than beneficial. They advertise "luxury apartments" which are nasty pigsties. They also say that the bus will transport patients to daily in-person meetings - it did not happen once. I don't know how many people go to Yelp when considering treatment centers, but I thought my review might be helpful for anyone considering it. I was at Talbott from late November 2022 to mid-February 2023 (12 full weeks). I was a heavy drinker and was intervened by my wife and sister. Like most people, I went kicking and screaming and I initially hated the experience. Gradually though, I "leaned in" and now I feel like it was the best thing I have ever done. I tried cutting back on my own countless times and was always unsuccessful. I needed Talbott to begin a new, alcohol-free life. It's not inexpensive, but when measured against what I was spending on my habit and what I might have spent over the next couple of decades, it was a very wise economic decision. The counselors there are among the best in the country and truly care about the recovery of all the patients. I feel fortunate to be from Atlanta and have this facility in my back yard, but I would recommend it to anyone, from anywhere. I met fellow patients from all over America and formed some deep bonds with a few that I am still in touch with today. TRC saved my life ! I am clean and sober today. Evidence based medicine, and doctors that care and understand how to gently detox somebody off of opiates. I didn't think that I could do it, but they help[ed me put my life back together. I also like that this is not a lock down facility, I needed to also have some freedom to exercise, go to outside AA meetings, play tennis, and go to the movies. Don't get me wrong, this is not one of those massage and horseback places, here you are drug tested and held accountable. Its the right mix of freedom and accountability. I love being clean and sober, and am grateful. I have also referred friends here that are also sober to this day. Highly recommend. read more

Great Rehab for professionals and young adults. Great Alumni program and aftercare. Can do intensive outpatient, inpatient or 3/4 after rehab living. Great doctors and therapists. They have rules to keep the patients protected from themselves so families can be assured their loved ones are safe. Talbott offers a great family program for so the family can learn how to help the addict establish a new life in long term recovery. My sobriety date is 11/4/2008 and I have 8+ years of continued sobriety. Talbott showed me how to live a Happy and complete life without alcohol, pills and drugs. UHS owns a chain of Hospitals/Treatment Facilities. See my review for Talbott and Anchor. I had a terrible addiction and placed myself voluntarily in this facility. I was locked (yes, locked) in Anchor Hospital to allegedly detox. They finally transferred me to this Talbott Marsh place after a horrific week of abuse at Anchor. They controlled EVERYthing people did. People do nothing but plot their escape from day one. Mind control tactics is what I saw. If you do not completely conform you are strongly targeted by staff. When I tried to leave they threatened me that my kids/house would be taken. I called the airline from their lock up apartment and split immediately. Of course I was shunned completely by the other 'inmates'. Cult programming? Terrified of no more house or kids when I got home. I have remained sober (they tell your family if you want to leave you are going to relapse) without their so called treatment. I found out a Dr. sued for false imprisonment and the high suicide rate was exposed. Also, I heard many 'clients' talk about selling their homes to pay the exorbitant cost of this long term facility. They said I needed at least two years there. Hmm? How many hundreds of thousands would that be? My personal bill was over forty thou for three weeks 'programming.' read more

Went to Talbott for a 72 hr assessment ordered by the board of nursing. From the moment I walked into the building, everything seemed very unorganized and no one knew the answers. Everyone including my MI, mirror image, seemed to be at a loss for how things were supposed to go. Got a lot of unsatisfactory answers. To top things off, I was quoted a certain payment, paid that payment while there, and today received a bill for an additional $500. Talk about a corrupt system. Went in for an "assessment." There were 8 ppl in my assessment group. Some ppl had minor issues like taking their physician's prescribed medications and some ppl had true addictions. Nevertheless, Talbott recommended 90 day ($30,000) treatment for every single person irregardless of the magnitude of their substance use. I would say they have an unethical financial incentive to make this one glove fits all recommendation. Do NOT come here for an assessment - the whole 3.5 days seemed more like an interrogation than medical evaluation. Also, the ppl at Talbott for long term 90 day treatment are practically in jail - cannot go to gym unless you are accompanied by another person. Cannot go out of living complex unless you have three ppl together. read more

I came to Talbott in May of 2007, broken, bruised and almost dead from my addiction. Was it scary? Yes. Getting sober usually is. But it is a safe place full of loving, caring amazing people who will do anything to help someone. Were there rules? Lots of them. But I needed structure and discipline. In no way does it even resemble jail. You live in apartments separate from the campus with other patients just like you, and go to campus from 8am-3pm and then go back to the apartments, go shopping or go to meetings, etc, and you have a life, free to leave if you want. I was there for a while, but I needed to be, and that was my choice. The staff is amazing, all the psychiatrists, counselors and family therapists are licensed and have worked in the field for years. There are also people who work there that are in recovery that are living examples of how to do it. This May I celebrated 10 years of sobriety, of life free from drugs and alcohol, and a life filled with hope and promise. Talbott showed me how to do it, but I had to do the work. I had an amazing, life-changing experience there. Rehab is not for everyone, but for those who think they are ready, this place is one of the best. read more

TRC is a horribly disorganized, UNETHICAL facility that cares only about money and they will tell you ANYTHING to get ALL of your money. I was forced there in November 2018 due to a professional evaluation that was not only carelessly performed but it contained outright lies! I had horrible depression and instead of helping me with my depression I was forced to rehab despite the fact that I am a social drinker...a fact that was supported by ALL of my friends and family. I had no history of DUI or other legal problems. I succumbed because I wanted to keep my career, but before committing to Talbott, I spoke with Stephanie (initial contact person) and expressed to her that I did not agree with the evaluation and that I noticed on Talbott's website that evaluations are performed there. I asked, "Would I also have a full evaluation when I got there?" Stephanie ASSURED me..."Yes! We have a whole team that make up a treatment group and they will perform an evaluation." Two days into my stay at this extremely unorganized facility, I asked about the evaluation and was told that one would not be done because I was already there based on the previous evaluation. I NEVER would have walked through Talbott's doors had I not been told I had a chance at another evaluation. Instead of listening to what I had to say, I was told I was "in denial." When I became upset, angry, and tearful, I was told by the Talbott Psychiatrist, Dr. Amar, there that I was "acting like an alcoholic." Really?! I was forced to pay my life savings of $27,000, forced to leave my home for months, treated like a criminal, repeatedly called a liar when all I had done was tell the truth, and discovered that I had been lied about and to by supposedly respectable medical professionals and getting upset proves somehow that I'm an alcoholic?! I finally got ahold of my records today and none of my collaterals that were spoken to such as my boy friend or personal psychiatrist who supported me and denied substance use even made it into my record. Anything to support the truth that I do not have a problem was left out of my record! I eventually left after 3 1/2 weeks into my 3-month stay. I was told it could take UP TO 90 days to get a refund following discharge. After 4 months, I started calling to find out the status of my refund. I called multiple times over months and no one would return my calls. Finally I came across my Talbott therapist's email address and since he was the only person I trusted there I emailed him to ask for his help. I heard from someone in the business office the same day but that was the first week of October 2019. They admit they owe me almost $5,000 but here it is over a year since I left Talbott and over 2 months since anyone admitted they owe me money. Yet, still NO REFUND!! I'm filing in court next week. Talbott has taught me how to live again. I have been at Talbott for nearly a year now and am currently in their Transitional Living Program. This place has been the most loving, positive atmosphere I have ever been in. Yes, there are rules here. And consequences. Learning to follow the rules here is getting me ready for leaving one day. I was taught that when you take the drugs away, you have a behavior problem then! That's the real issue.. Learning to deal with your feelings and outside circumstances without using. Learning to set boundaries with people was huge for me. Talbott gives you so many tools for a successful life without any type of mood altering substances. Today my family talks to me and lets me come home to their houses. They are so supportive of me and of whatever I want to do. A year and a half ago, the story was much different. Today I have a reason to live. Talbott and my Higher Power gave me that. read more
