However, during one of these open houses I met Sharlene and we got to chatting, and I knew right away I wanted her to be my realtor. She was so warm, genuine, and knowledgeable. Her passion to help came across right way, and I really appreciate the folks who you know aren't trying to just make a commission, but truly want to help you. They are hard to find in today's world! Over the months that Sharlene and I worked together, she was always so responsive, helpful, and ready to jump into action if a really nice property popped up. Sometimes a home would go on Pending within a day, so I knew if there was one I really liked we needed to see it ASAP, and she was ready to head out for showings when I needed her! She also sent me info along the way to help me prep for the buying process, connected me with the bank and eased that transaction as well. Once I found "the one," she came to see it with me and helped me to go over it with a fresh perspective. The offer process went smoothly and she helped me negotiate a lower price. When the inspection got scheduled while I was away on a trip, she even showed up on my behalf to take notes with the inspector and make sure everything looked good! Since I have no family here in Indy, I felt like it was having a sister to help me along the way with both knowledge and moral support, which was SO appreciated. I've actually been looking forward to working with Terry Brown for years. Before he entered real estate, we were coworkers. In fact, he was my manager and mentor, so I knew the knowledge, competence, and energy he would bring when I was ready to buy my first house. And when I went to open houses and told other agents that I was working with Terry, I heard nothing but positive feedback: "You're working with Downtown Terry Brown? Lucky!" I agree! Terry was the perfect agent for me. He always responds right away, he notices small details, and he's well-connected. He quickly gained a sense of what I wanted, and also understood when I changed my mind about certain things. He also has a lot of practical points and creative ideas that helped me visualize living in the spaces we visited. He's patient and easy to talk to, and he has a great sense of humor. He made a complicated process easy to understand. I didn't have to worry about anything, which is definitely saying something for me. In fact, I felt confident throughout the whole journey. A crucial part of home-buying, at least for first-time buyers like me, is education. I'd lived on my own for many years, but I had a lot to learn about home ownership. That information gave me expectations and a base to ask myself what I wanted, so I could set out on the search process confidently. DaShawn was also the only realtor we reached out to that wanted to jump on a call with us to really get to know our needs (other than bed/bath count), which was the reason we chose him as our realtor in the first place. He pointed out "quick flips" as we were touring, which was very helpful for us; he taught us to look under the cosmetics of things like flooring and paint. Where we could have used more support from DaShawn was during the negotiation / closing process. Had we not done our own research and had a good understanding of unique ways to write an offer, the outcome may have been different. Additionally, once our offer was accepted, we felt we had to do a lot of reaching out to DaShawn on progress of closing, and felt mislead on the seller's perspective of getting to an agreement on the sale of the house and the additional lot next door. We were unable to attend the inspection due to being out of state, and no one attend for us or offered. The seller was present however. They recommended The Home Team, who performed the most expensive, least thorough inspection we've ever had. When we tried to back out of the sale, my agent talked down to me as if I'd just never bought a house before and didn't understand the process. She very much pushed us to continue the sale. The final walkthrough was done by our agent, and we took possession 5 days after close. I asked what would happen if issues were discovered upon possession and was assured they would be made right. We have moved into the house and found among other things, a dishwasher that didnt function, loose plumbing, and a massive crack in the foundation. Both realtor and her manager have told us were are basically SOL because we already closed. Moving from out of state, you're forced to put trust in someone else. I did, and I was burned hard. If you want someone with your interests in mind, or someone to have your back, DO NOT USE.

The condo a crossed the street went on the market at the same time and sold for $45k less - it had a huge back deck and updated kitchen. This overpriced condo is not updated, it has no back deck like the others. It is way over priced and it's slimy real estate agents that list homes like this are the problem!!!!! For…read morethe last 4 years or so, it has been a struggle getting monthly statements, rent money that was paid by the tenants, or even a response to my emails/calls/texts. I have been under a tremendous amount of stress because the last time I heard from Rob was August 14, 2025 and the last time he sent me rent money from the tenant was November 10, 2025. I had lost my job for a period of time but finally found work and then my boyfriend recently lost his job. I've done my best to stay afloat and have put so much time and money into the house that I have really been working to keep it. If Rob was sending me the money from the tenant I would be fine, but I cannot afford to pay our rent and the mortgage anymore with only 1 income. The house was vacant last year and cost me quite a bit of money and I explained my struggles to Rob multiple times. He is a licensed real estate broker # RC51800090 and legally responsible to hold funds in trust when accepting them from a tenant on behalf of a property owner. He legally cannot participate in deceptive practices when doing business as a licensee. I have documented all the times I've attempted to reach him with no responses. If this happens to you, file a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General for the state of Indiana and include the license number above. They will investigate the matter and my hope is that he will do the right thing or lose his license so he cannot do this to anyone else.
