Made reservations in advance but showed up 30 minutes late due to bad weather. We were seated right away and were served our tamales immediately. Those alone were outstanding and worth the drive. We will be making a trip out before the holidays to stock up on those. I had the filet and the wife had the salmon. We both were impressed and are excited to bring family when they visit. This place is in the middle of nowhere and is a popular destination for waterfowlers. The tamales are really good, but the 2,3 and 4 lb steaks are the highlight of the menu. The servers were very nice and worked really hard to make sure all tables were properly taken care of. Very reasonable pricing for the portions served! read more

Such a delicious and efficient experience! We got there right when it opened and from the time we sat down until the time we paid our bill it was only 30 minutes. We had a cocktail, tamales, steak, catfish, and pecan pie. Would recommend all of it. Was visiting relatives and went to eat here. Not a fancy place (in fact it is built into a horse barn), but Wow! Absolutely great food! From the tamales to the shrimp to a fabulous ribeye cooked to a perfect medium rare, I was totally shocked to find such a quality restaurant in the middle of rural Arkansas. This place is a great place for the best Hot Tamales and Steaks and catfish. We had T-bones and tamales, cooked to a warm medium. Hard to beat in any other restaurant. My husband and I have gone to this restaurant every Christmas for the last 2 years when we are in town (we live in Austin) but last night was the worst customer experience I've ever had. First, we attempted to call ALL day long to get a reservation and couldn't leave a msg as the voicemail was full. When we finally got someone on the phone at 4:30, we were told they were pretty busy but we could get fit in. We weren't asked for a name or anything. We left immediately and got to the restaurant around 5:40. We weren't spoken to as we "didn't have a reservation." There were 2 additional non-reservation parties waiting with us - they received the same treatment. George, would speak to his friends, while taking sips from his whisky from the bar, all while ignoring patrons who wanted to sit and eat. We waited for ONE hour - all the while not one reserved party came in to eat except for one large 10 seater table. Finally, my husband asked if we could take a 5 seater table, as we had been waiting and his response was that he "had to take care of his customers!" Sorry dude, we are paying customers, too. Finally, we get seated. Our waitress takes our drink order, all waters, and my husband and brother in law order another drink. 10 minutes later, still no drinks. 15 minutes, and she comes back to take our order. We received our appetizer quickly, as it's tamales - can't mess that up. After 30 min, we asked for our salads. We received them and ate. Through this time, tables were STILL empty and people around us being served... After an hour of waiting for a steak, we were told the cooks were new and didn't know what they were doing. Solid. Still, we waited. Another 30 minutes later and the table behind us, sat 30 minutes after us is being served their food. We are starting to get upset. Our waitress assures us that our food is "coming, as our ticket isn't in the window". Nope. After 2.5 hours of sitting at our table waiting for a STEAK, we notice commotion in the kitchen. The cook is shaking his head as our waitress is trying to show him our order. Come to find out, he didn't have it nor was he planning on rectifying the mess up and start cooking our order. We tell the waitress to call it a wash as it was nearly 10:00 and we were starving and angry. All of this, and as we are walking out the door, my husband stops to talk to the drunk George about our lack of food and his crappy reply was "you should have made a reservation!" The nerve! I will not go back to this restaurant ever! His lack of attention to detail and customer satisfaction is insane. He relies on his hunter buddies to keep him in business and his principles are out of the Stone Age. Beware, and at the very least - make a reservation. Or Georgie boy and his whisky drinking comrades will get better service than you. read more

Located out in the country south of Augusta, AR. George the owner greeted us and showed us to our table as soon as we entered. We arrived just as they were opening at 5:00. We enjoyed the catfish plate and a couple of beers tonight. When George noticed we had fish remaining on our plates he stopped by to see if everything was okay with the meal. We assured him it was, just waiting to pack up the left overs for lunch tomorrow. Next outing here we will be ready to try one of those delicious looking steaks. read more

Loved the atmosphere, service, food and drinks! My family of four drove three hours round trip and it was worth it. I had the broiled shrimp and my husband and sons had the chopped steak. The Tamale Factory is such a unique experience. More than just a place to eat. I guess because of where it is, you just don't expect to have such a great meal and good service in the middle of the Grand Prairie. Perfectly cooked t-bone and those great tamales. And I even ran into a friend I haven't seen in years while I was there. I'll be back. read more
