I had a great therapist prior helping me with that, but due to health reasons she had to retire. I floundered for quite a while and figured it was time to find a therapist again to coach me out of my rut. I was especially interested in someone that was trained in EMDR since that was something I hadn't tried. (Trust me, I've tried a lot). I talked to friends and doctors looking for a "great" therapist. I talked to many therapists on the phone and tried one for a few weeks and realized there definitely wasn't a connection. Another trusted doctor gave me a referral to a therapist that she knew was good but it turned out her practice was full at the time. She referred me to Kelly who she also held in high regard. After talking to Kelly on the phone for 10 minutes I had a good feeling and made a face to face appointment. (I personally prefer and appreciate she still does office visits.) My intuition was correct. Kelly is smart, caring, empathetic, and an extremely skilled therapist. I am very impressed how well she listens and remembers what we talked about weeks and months ago. (Not all therapists are good at that). She has many techniques she draws upon and is also good at helping me do the work and hold myself accountable in a very caring and nice way. I really don't understand how EMDR works and it seems somewhat strange but it actually does reduce and disconnect some very old and recent traumas. I don't care about the mechanics, it's working. I've been with her about 6 months now and I'm encouraged how things are heading in the right direction for me. I feel very grateful that I found her. She is one of the "great" ones!

At the time I felt too distraught to start the grief therapy work - so fast forward to a year later and I decided the final part of my healing would be the 7 week program offered in moving thru my divorce and getting to the other side. Mary was an amazing person to go through this process with. Besides being understanding, compassionate, empathic and kind - she was well informed about the process and so easy to go through the course with. I always felt heard and understood - even when things were challenging and sad for me to manage - she offered her insight as well. She was also flexible in scheduling times for us to get together as I work FT. I have recommended her to others I know also, and would I fully endorse her as a practitioner for this kind of healing work !!

I will spare the details but, despite the fact that I am normally a very transparent person I was doing my best to cover up what I was actually experiencing. I swear she new immediately that I was feeling lost and defeated. Before starting my sessions with Mary, I had tried everything from therapy to medication but it just wasnt enough I felt like I was falling apart faster than those things could help put me back together and I had totally given up and became numb, I thought I would just have to accept feeling that way. Finally, she convinced me to work with her. At the time I really didnt know what I was getting into or what to expect, but she was such an open person and offered such a welcoming and no judgmental environment, that I felt comfortable to start the process with her. I am so grateful that I did. I will admit it was hard at first, I had to be very raw with my feelings, and lets be honest that is not always fun, but it is necessary and she is so supportive through the process. I came out the other side able to breath and it has given me tools to process feelings as they come as well. I noticed differences in how I spoke with my husband when an argument came up, and he became more receptive, I found myself speaking differently to friends when they were going through something and I was able to simply "be there" for them. So, not only did I benefit from this for myself and find healing, but I was able to apply the process to all aspects of my life and be a better mother, wife, and friend. I still go to therapy and still experience pain and grief, but thats ok, its human. I now have tools to work though those things and recommend working through this process with Mary to anyone who needs it, and honestly everyone could benefit. Thank you Mary!!!!

Who knows. Personally, I'd rather admit to going to therapy then to McDonald's - and I know McDonald's has a lot of damn Yelp reviews. (Also, I'll let you guys in on a little secret: All McDonald's are the same - stop reviewing them.) But I digress. I will begin by saying that she is an absolute gem - she's both a professional and just a genuinely kind person. She makes you feel as though you are talking to a very intelligent, judgement-free friend who can guide you through life's rough waters. I started seeing Amy when I was having some anxiety and was hoping to work through some experiences that I'd gone through in past relationships. I have been seeing her on and off for about 6 months and have really benefited from the invaluable tools she's given me to deal with life, relationships and general anxiety. I've also done EMDR with her (Google it) and felt that it was beneficial. Going to talk with Amy has been a great gift I've given myself. (Think of it like a sports massage for your brain....kinda sounds awesome now, huh?) If you're looking to talk to a phenomenal therapist, work through some of the things that weigh you down (and get back out there being the Babe Ruth of McDonald's reviews that you are) then I HIGHLY recommend Amy. I truly cannot say enough good things about her & the services she provides. She's amazing!
