My fiancé and I have been seeing Tammy for couples therapy for just over a year now. Prior to starting therapy I asked my finance to research some therapists and pick one, knowing that he'd be more likely to go, if he felt comfortable with them. Tammy is a very calming, caring, genuine person, who makes you comfortable opening up to her. She is fair, never favors one person or the other but does help find out our individual issues and addresses them. Not a good fit for us doing marriage counseling when a husband cheats. She seemed very nice but clearly doesn't understand how toxic narcissistic in laws can be. She laughed if off and told me it was my fault I had issues with his toxic parents ( my communication issues ) and to be nice to them as they raised my husband. Also, be nice since they are getting old. Wow! One of the reasons we were having marriage trouble because I always had to "sweep in under the rug" or just "let it go " and after 20 years, I couldn't take it anymore especially with little spousal support. Then she says I have to continue to handle their crap because they are old. Horrible therapist. She mentioned in the one counseling session we had that were to only work on husband cheating and other issues later, but she really focused on my issues in marriage instead of the cheating spouse. Horrible experience. Didn't feel understood and she favored my husband, even my husband saw this. As we were walking out, he already knew I wasn't coming back. We have been to counseling before and had good experiences with two other counselors in Northern California. read more
